Mr Fox
Character Creation:20 Nova points. No more than 6 Taint max, and all aberrations have to be concealable. There will be a background for Rank. 1 dot = Sergeant 2 dots = Lieutenant 3 dots = Captain 4 dots = Major* 5 dots = Colonel** Rank above Captain requires approval since that becomes a function of team dynamics and military hierarchy. Only one commanding officer per team after all.All members of the team must have the rank background since even Civilian volunteers are given pseudo rank based on their function.Megas: Only one dot in a particular mega. You can have more than one mega attribute however.Enhancements:No more than two enhancements on a given mega attribute.Odd powers - please check with me on concept. I will likely allow most anything, but the stranger the power the better of a character story you need. Age: 18 and up. They wouldn't allow under aged folks to go on military missions after all. Plus keep in mind your rank, there won't be any 18 year old Colonels that are commanding officers for an SG team, so make the age and rank appropriate to what your concept is.Note:This game will be run via individual stories. Though you may be part of an SG team, you don't have to be if you don't want to be. Not all stories will be about a team going out to accomplish some particular mission. You do need to have some level of backing and trust from the SGC in order to access the Earth gate and participate in the group stories. That said, you could be a Vala like character who is out for their own profit and only comes back to Earth when she needs something from the SGC.Now, please feel free to post your desired character concepts. Yes, there can be more than one person filling a particular role. We have enough players for three or four SG teams at this point if everyone who has expressed interest actually submits a character.Merits and Flaws:I don't like using them. Feel free to role play flaws to your hearts content. For merits on the other hand... if you really must have one to make your character work, you can purchase merits.2 bonus points = 1 merit point1 nova point = 5 merit points***Check back for updates. Things are subject to change as we refine the game setup.***
Shin Okuda
I'm interested in playing a Military character. Concept is Career enlisted man, role: Point man.
z028 Riley
I'm interested in playing a Teal'c/Taela type character (i.e. an outsider that permanently joins an SGC team). I am bringing Kyria over from LM and would prefer a close-knit team to work with and go on meta-plot driven storyline/missions with. Kyria at this point is a techie character with fairly strong combat skills.
Stargaizer
Ok, going for a former hacker/engineering genius (smattering of science in there, just enough to understand the engineering). The rest of the concept should be secret... for now...
Dr. Soie Ph.D
I was thinking about importing my newest Aberrant character, a surgeon. This'll probably be fitted to the situation a bit more, more of a field medic than a neurosurgeon.
Forge
I'm thinking a Blackwater Merc with a background in explosives, that was recruited to the SGP after testing positive for the ATA gene. The cigar-chewing, foul-mouthed, my father beat me when I was young so I take it out by blowing stuff up type. But...has the 'big brother' syndrome that makes him want to protect anyone he feels is weaker than him, (pretty much everyone), from all possible harm. Ryan Hawke
Another career military man, high levels of combat prowess and decent command skills.
SalmonMax
Looking to try a sort of recon style character. Skill in stealth, sniping, forward observation and intelligence gathering.Powers...not sure yet. Maybe a low level speedster or time manipulator (with permission).I'd like to avoid the obvious Invisibility/Shroud powers that usually go with this sort of theme. There's no reason the powers unlocked would be perfect for the character's MOS.
Rorx
If no-one minds I'll pull over a version of HG Jones from ItB, since he's stuck in the future in that game with little to no chance of progress at the moment.Civilian specialist (nuclear weapons and there disposal/disarmament) who was crosstrained with the British Marine Commandos for field work before being grabbed by NID/Others for the Program which altered him. As a scientist/engineer he has been enthusiastic about his inclusion in the SGC and the challenges it brings. His past hobbies of martial arts and historic re-enactment (and his melee combat) may be of use in the lower tech worlds that the SGC come across. Katalyst
I'd got a concept for a raw private/newbie. Various skills combat and weapon skills...still not sure about powers.
Luchian
As I mentioned in PM, I'll be looking into a counselor/ambassador type character of some sort, so largely social/mental, with some sort of psychic array of powers.Let me know what you rule on Pretercognition. It's not essential to the concept, but I thought the oracular aspect could be somewhat interesting to play. I do realize it can be a headache on the ST's side though, and if you think it'll be a pain in the butt, then no worries.
Omar
I was thinking of bringing Omar or an Omar type character. He will be a brute of a man, with physicals to complement his grappling type of fighting skill. He would be a Middle Easterner who tested positive for the ATA gene and was recruited for his skills. Don't think I will keep the Olympic wrestler motif this time though.Powers: Either Density Increase/Boost, or a Bodymorph of some type instead of Sizemorph: Grow. Mr Fox
I'm fine with Precog as long as you realize it is as much a plot device in ST hands as it is an aid for the character. I'm liking all the concepts I've seen so far. Ziggurat brings up a good point though. Since we are limiting Megas to 1 dot, I think by definition we have either rule out boost or limit it to a max of 2 dots of mega, which is still significant in terms of what you guys will be facing as opponents. Same would go for Density Increase or any other power that boosts stats.

Drew
I wanna bring in Andrew Fischer as an engineer devoted to making alien tech work; he gets Luck, Intuition, Mega-Dex, Mega-Perception, and Mega-Wits. Schtick is his brain's been rewired to make him artificially lucky.
Owns-The-Night
I confess myself intrigued. I have a concept in mind, but the personality and name are going to be Dec's from WoD:A, minus the werewolf angle. So no, he won't be growling and urinating on the C.O's doorstep. Basically, he's a combat vet with PTSD that the shadowy organisation found genetically suitable to run their last batch of experiments on before being shut down by the SG-1 team. I'll explain further in a PM, Fox
Katalyst
How are you handling merits and flaws? As a side note will be going with Holo and Mirage for powers.

Mr Fox
Don't care, but I generally just don't mess with them. I'd prefer not to deal with Merits and flaws in this game. Any flaws can be handled through role play.

Mr Fox
Just for the record, and I'll edit the post at the top of the page to reflect this. I don't really like dealing with Merits and Flaws. So, don't bother with flaws, just role play them. However, if there is a merit that you need to really make your character work that is more than just roleplay you can buy it with bonus points on a 2 bonus point per 1 merit points cost, or 1 np to 5 merit points. Courier
Quote:1 np to 5 merit points. Please put me down for 3 NP for 15 merit points which I'll spend for +2 Quantum More seriously: It's looking like I'll bring in Steve Courier, high society Master Thief.Steve apparently has some sort of very finely controlled energy deflection/reflection ability. He can defeat or corrupt computers and the like to the point where he's invisible to electronic detection... including such things as cameras or even mirrors. Steve is also as quiet as the falling dust when he wishes to be and has a face that many of the rich and famous would kill for.

They are not the same thing. You use Merit points to buy Merits. Some nice STs allow you to convert them into Bonus points, but not all. So that's up to Fox. Mr Fox
Yes, perhaps I didn't make myself clear on that. It's a one way purchase. You can't buy merit points with NPs then turn around and convert merits to bonus. Plus, like I said before, I don't really like merits and flaws. I'm just trying to accommodate people who are desperate to have some particular merit that makes a big story difference on how their character works. Ambidexterity for Declan's character. Iron Will for Omar, etc. Please don't abuse the option by purchasing half a dozen merits, that's not what I intended it for. I know Steve was just joking above and wouldn't abuse the system, but don't get tempted or I will disallow merits altogether. Just pick up what is absolutely critical for your character concept, ie one or two merits.
Luchian
I don't think this has been touched on elsewhere, but the Core book says we get three "free" dots of Endurance and Resistance. Since we're far more "down to Earth" here, I'm assuming that's not the case? Or did you want to keep that standard? Just checking.
