From what I've seen of the series, about half the team has zats and the others have assualt rifles. I think SG Team Leaders can request extra equipment, like getting Jaunt that sniper rifle (he can carry the heaviest one made) and a SMG for close in action. Maybe some grenades too.

I think the Teams will vary a bit because so many can carry so much more. It will come down to how tactically sound it is to hand out what weapons. I doubt any Team Lead wants to be putting all the best equipment in the hands of their top HTH people. That's a waste.

Remember that the game is 2004. Think of tech appropriately. As far as zats go in the series, they are often stated as 'rare' and only seem to be in the show either when there is combat at the SGC or when dramatically appropriate off-world.

But that aside, I am personally all for making them a standard issue sidearm laugh

Boy! You're in the Army (hrumpf ... Air Force) now! Didn't you get the IM, ya Tree Hugger?

Weapons are kept in the armory on level 28. Being issued weapons is the last thing done before the team leaves on a mission. Checking them back in is the first thing they do upon returning.

Usually the weapons issued will depend on the type of mission. Obviously they will issue heavier more powerful missions if they expect heavy combat vs a standard explore mission or a covert one.

Generally it will be the SMG P90s.

It would be possible to request a specific weapon in terms of side arm, but generally they will issue standard weapons so that everything everyone carries will be interchangeable.

Fox, I think you missed answering this for me.

Question was asked about getting leave.

You guys have 4 weeks of 'basic training' to go through, after that you will have a 1 week leave. The 4 weeks is not real time of course, as soon as you guys feel comfortable that you are done with training we can move on to missions or your week of leave.

SG21 is going nuts with their training and enjoying it muchly it seems. Other SG teams don't have to go that in depth with your training threads. As long as you guys feel you have covered what needs to be covered and let me know I will move things along for you. Covering what needs to be covered would include things like Omar and Vinny coming to an understanding, or your unit feeling like it has a certain comfort level with each other.

*sniffs derisively at the P90*

I've talked it over with Adrian, but I'm throwing this in here as well. Given that the Specials are more likely to be sent into high-risk zones than regular troops, I suggest this baby for the nova SG teams. Hell, I'd suggest it for all the SG teams.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heckler_&_Koch_MP7

It's ammo is armor piercing due to size, composition and muzzle velocity. It also has excellent low recoil, takes a suppressor and other accessories, and is generally a better choice for a close-in weapon than the P90.

Watched a firing demo of one of these a little while ago. At 20 metres, this thing went through the front and back plates of a heavy kevlar vest, plus the steel target the vest was hung on. Maybe not as much stopping power in game terms as a full assault rifle: I'd class it as a Hvy SMG with AP and +2 Accuracy.

I would also endorse the MP7. It has been adopted for use by the Uk's MOD Police amongst others, and doesn't have the potential to jam that the P90's magazine does when diving for cover.

However, I think Fox was setting this in 2004 and I don't know if it was available then?

On a different matter, Olivia and Perault seem to be posting roughly on a turn time so I'll wait for about 5 posts each before HG will wake up. wink

The P90 is the standard issue for the SG teams at least through the final season, so if you guys want a different gun you should request it IC. smile

OOC: The Armor piercing of the MP7 worries me. Afraid you guys might take down the enemy too fast. On the other hand this is the military so you can requesition the mp7 and we can test it out on a mission and if it is too deadly, well the militiary can always just not issue you the gun again. Wouldn't be the first time the military made a poor equipment decision.

Sorry, internet was down earlier.

I had not planned for that to be the end of it. You guys can post your experiences and feeling about running 5 miles either after or during. It is really up to you guys to continue. We could even start a new thread. Of course some peeps may even have more questions. Right now, Omar is just trying to test everyone's physical capabilities and limitations.

You guys have such a good balance of skill sets on the teams I hate to rock that boat by adding more members to the team, but I think that may be the best option. Not that Kat couldn't do team lead with Simms, but only having three teams would be helpful anyway. I'll think about it tonight and make a decision tomorrow.

Ok, I lied. I've made the decision with the excellent help and advice of Malachite.

Due to the team dynamics the best way to split things up are as follows:

SG21: (SG21 will have 3ish military types and 2 specialists, Jones counts as military)

Major Damien Caine (Adrian)

Sgt. Declan Perault (Dec)

Specialist HG Jones (Rorx)

Specialist Olivia Jennings-Izuma (Carver)

Specialist Devin Jauntsen (Dave)

SG23: (SG23 has 3 military types adn 2 specialists)

Major Ryan Hawke (Long)

Lt. Brayden Wolfe (Skylion)

Sgt. Elijah Simms (Katalyst)

Specialist Samuel Lawrence (Stargazier)

Specialist Kyria Donnigal (Malachite)

SG24: (SG24 has 3 military types and 3 specialists.)

Captain Omar Khudikias (White Rat)

Lt. Vinny Wright (Forge)

Lt. Mark Jacobs (Yamabushi)

Specialist Andrew Fischer (Drew)

Specialist Taylor Price (Luchian)

Specialist Steve Courier (Troll)

This will also help me out since there will only be 3 teams to deal with. I really liked the 4 man team concept, but this will make things easier and should help with the teams that are stalling a bit.
