Hmn, perhaps 'Requisistions' should be added as a bacgkround. It's from WoD Technocrats, but it's used to represent what your organizaiton is willing to give you in the way of equipment. Or the Equipment background, too, I guess. smile

As for Resources, it's what it is in all the games: a measure of your character's personal wealth. As for use, if you have no resources then you probably live on base and have little financial pull in any situation that is not covered by the SGC. If you have a significant amount of resources, then you have cash available seperate from requisitions of the SGC and probably some significant financial pull in the outside world (say if you own or have large stock holdings in major corporations or are independently wealthy).

Man we've got some eager beavers. smile I think I've got the remaining characters straightened out.

I will be working on the intro stories now. I'll start posting them tonight or tomorrow. You'll each be getting an individual intro that will go into how you personally came to be in the [sarcasm] gentle [/sarcasm] care of the NID.

Actually, Mala, it's just you and me. Jameson offered to help, but only on a temporary basis, unless he changes his mind.

Either way, Rev, you are welcome to make a character if you like. I am wanting to keep the tone serious though, so the pimp character we were joking about the other night would not be an option. smile You are a damn good RPer though, so if you have an idea let me know and we can discuss it.

BTW, I realize that I have a very sick and twisted sense of humor. I don not actually condone any such act that I was be inclined to apply my sick and twisted sense of humor too. If I was a Nova I would be a taint buttered-freak, it's true, and I would love it!

Never intend to offend.

That is all, carry on...

It is moments like this, Sky, that I begin to understand you as a person and a player. Now excuse me, I have to give myself a lobotomy. wink

Callsigns = No.

They don't use them in the shows or movies. They refer to each other by their rank and name generally. Cpt. Carter, Gen. O'neil, Dr. Jackson, or just by last name amongst themselves. Jackson, Carter, Jack.

In BSG they go by callsigns and in some branches of the real world military they do also, but it does deviate from the Stargate canon.

Having said that, I don't have any problem with you guys bringing that into the game via role-play interaction. But you shouldn't start out using callsigns because that would indicate an existing culture of familiarity between people that don't really know each other yet. It is perfectly justified that you Novas would develop such a culture to indicate your differences from the standard rank and file of the SGC personnel, but that needs to be done via IC rp.

I know it's a small thing, but I think it will be more fun for you all to rp that out rather than just assuming something at the start.

I think callsigns are generally used by pilots when actually flying, so that they're not using real names over unsecured radio broadcasts.

Sometimes squads will use code names when broadcasting, but not really regular callsigns.

That's always been my impression at least.

No callsigns!? Yes it may be 'cannon', but not true to military standards by any means.
But I do agrree with the justification of it being a familiarity thing as most people, if
any, actually choose their own nick. It will be fun to RP them out IC. smile

callsigns are used by pilots yes, but nicknames get used throughout the military, mostly a somantic thing, but callsigns are slightly more official, and nicknames are purely off record and within one's own unit usually.
