While that's not to say his art work can't be used for the purposes of the mission, he is not there 'to draw'.If asked to document, collect, etc... he'll do it with video equipment or digital imagining equipment. The ability to sketch/draw is a talent that belongs to Jaunt, and he will draw/sketch whatever he likes and can not/will not be ordered otherwise.An example might be that just because a man is an excellent cook doesn't mean that he has to accept orders to cook a particular meal just because his COs have gathered all ingredients and are hungry.This is non-negotiable. When Caine wants the stuff Jaunt did "under orders" Jaunt can tell him to get stuffed.And your example isn't correct. That's exactly how it works in the military, including that the COs can order the chef to gather the ingredients and cook the meal. A better example would be a master cook ordered to prepare a human baby by his COs. If you disobey orders, you need to have a really good reason to do so, something you can defend yourself with to your CO's superiors. If Jaunt just doesn't want to draw under orders, he should either respectfully ask Caine not to make that order (which Caine doesn't have to respect ) or take the consequences of not obeying orders. Now, Jaunt does draw, and he likes to, but he was never sent on the mission as an artist, and if so I was never informed of it.Jaunt's artistic ability and enjoyment to draw was metagamed by Caine who now seems to think Jaunt is there to draw everything. That's not the case at all else you wouldn't have video equipment.Forgive my example, I forgot about your extensive military background. My mistake.As I said, this is non-negotiable. Arguing at this point isn't going to do anything but escalate emotions and spin this into something just silly. So please, let it go until the ST gets back. He has already antagonized his commander pretty much to the point of taking action already so direct refusal to obey and order might just be the straw that broke the camels back, but that is up to Caine IC. From my stand point as ST. Rev has said that he wants Jaunt to make everyone hate him before he turns it around and becomes a lovable scamp who will be a good team player. I've got faith that he is following his stated goals. I do caution however, that actions do have consequences and Jaunt might suffer them if he pisses his superiors off too much. That's not why he was sent on the mission, one I was never informed of those orders, two Caine was never informed that Jaunt was an artist (because Command doesn't know the kid can draw), yet Caine has him drawing everything when there's perfectly good digital imaging equipment available, it makes absolutely no damn sense.And there won't be an ultimatum, I'm not taking the bait for Jaunt to speak his mind and then watch as you guys all gang up on me and antagonize me until I quit this game too. Some get it, others don't and it's a shame.Jaunt's core is pretty much torn out, he was supposed to be a little punk. With everyone so uptight about getting their feelings hurt or being antagonized that's pretty much shot to hell now.To be honest the character isn't all that fun anymore, but I guess we'll see. Mr Fox Posted April 3, 2009 Author Share Posted April 3, 2009 As you guys know SG21 has been going gang busters and writing beyond even my ability to throw plot at them. They totally rock. However, the other two teams have been pretty painfully slow even without comparison to 21, to the point that I believe some players are starting to lose interest in the game. In fact I believe we may have lost a few it's been so long since we've had posts by them.Back when I first assigned teams I said that I would reevaluate things after the first missions. Well that time has come. I want to do two things at this point. I am going to reassign the folks on SG23 and SG24 in order to put the fastest posters with the fastest posters. There is nothing wrong with not being able to post at lightning speed or make 10 updates a day, hell, I've been there and will be again I'm sure. Work, life, or just lack of interest can hold you back, that's no big deal, but things have really been dragging in the two missions, maybe some of that is my fault for not giving you guys enough to work with. Either way, I am also going to institute a policy of updates when on missions, I would like to see everyone update once a day and if a day goes by without an update realize I may move things along. If the whole team would rather a slower pace that would be ok too and we could give everyone two days to post, but I'll leave that up to the new teams. Stay tuned for the new team assignments... Ps. That way, if your character is looking for her, you can easily find her based on the time of day. Anyone who bothers to learn her schedule can know it; she makes no attempt to hide it. Therefore, I invite everyone to read it, even you meanies who don't read stuff you're not in. If you know Livy well enough to come looking for her in fics/ic threads, you're probably in it.
