Sprocket
The Development Team for EON's nova reproduction fanbook would like to hear from anyone at EON who has proven themselves (in the opinion of other EON posters) to be a good author. As our work on Aberrant: A Breed Apart is winding down, we are left with only an "Introductory Fiction" piece to be done AFA our writing workload. So we've decided to see in any of the good authors here at EON would be interested in contributing to this fanbook. ::cool Anyone who's interested can post their applications to this thread. Only serious offers will be considered. The base concept of the fiction piece is as follows. A morning in the life of a breeder nova family, interrupted by a motherhunter attack and subsequent intervention by delivery boys. Concept specifics will only be discussed with the winning applicant.BTW, here are some relevant definitions from AB: ABA.Breeder: Somewhat derogatory (and occasionally envious) slang term for both fertile baselines and fertile novas that developed after the reality of widespread infertility among novas became public knowledge in the nova community.Delivery Boy/Girl: Slang term for operatives who "deliver" (read: rescue) breeder novas and their offspring from the threats posed by motherhunters and other hostile parties.Motherhunter: Derogatory slang term for operatives who track down breeder novas and their offspring (if any), typically with sinister intent. phoenix
I'm game, if you want me to take a shot at it. Or alternately, I'd be happy to look over the final draft of whatever the winning applicant comes up with. ::cool These are just character prologues, but they should give you a good idea of my writing style: character introductions for King Cobra (Aberrant) and Joshua (Adventure!). Sprocket
AFA I'm concerned, phoenix, your writing style suits me just fine. ::cool I'll alert Alex Green & have him look over your samples (both of which look very good), & we'll get in touch. ::wink
SkyLion
I was going to volunteer Phoenix actually, for fun, but figured he should speak for himself....Looks like I was right! Go P-diddy!
Sprocket
Well, get ready to do some more cheering, Skylion. ::smile I've just received word from Alex Green, and...Phoenix has won this little shindig as of this posting. ::cool Phoenix, just come on over to the Mega-Physical project forum, on the "Nova Reproduction" thread. Alex & I can start hashing things out with you on this there. We're glad to have you aboard. ::welcome
SkyLion
Of course its hard not to win when you're the only one competing... ::wink ,, Congrats Phoenix! ::smile
Sprocket
Yeah, there wasn't much competition for this, was there? ::laugh Still, we're getting some high-quality fiction from a good author, so that's no disappointment.

madcat82
So, let me get this straight, Phoenix, our underage adorable little urchin, is writing porn for us? ::biggrin ::biggrin ::biggrin ::biggrin ::laugh ::laugh ::laugh ::laugh ::laugh
SkyLion
titilating isn't it?! ::laugh ,, It was good for me... ::ultracool
Sprocket
::laugh Nah, not porn. A "black ops invades normal life" action scenario is closer to the mark. ::cool The porn will have to wait for whoever winds up trying to write "Aberrant: Sex". ::tongue
Blue Thunder
Is that in development btw? Or is it a joke? Or just an idea?
Sprocket
I can confirm that it's not in development here at EON, and more than likely never will be. Someone might be working on it - either alone or with a group of buddies - somewhere out there, but I've no evidence on that one way or the other. ::shrug The idea has been tossed (seriously!) around a few times, to be sure, but nothing's ever come of those talks AFAIK. As for it being a joke... it wasn't one the last couple of times I've seen it discussed, but it could very easily be made into one. ::slyBesides, if anyone ever did try to write that up, it wouldn't turn out to be a very big book - it'd probably wind up being the size of Aberrant: XWF or one of the other mini-books. madcat82
Although, while it might seem like a joke, its actually a big deal. Think about it, people got to ask themselfs WHY abberants/novas are sterile...
Sprocket
Well, the whole nova sterility issue is addressed pretty well (among other topics dealing with nova reproduction) in Aberrant: A Breed Apart, of which phoenix will be doing the last bit of writing that's left to do.About the only thing I'd predict seeing in a hypothetical "Aberrant: Sex" ebook is the Body Modification version of "Savage Genitalia" (from oWoD Freak Legion). Google for that, and you'll find lots of gamers' less-than-pleased remarks about it. ::thumbdown: If anything along those lines does get produced elsewhere, it'll probably just be as a .txt file. I can easily see someone pulling a hoax/fakebook based on that, though. ::devil

Sprocket
Re: High-Taint tentacle monsters-That's why I said that a body mod version of "Savage Genitalia" was the only sure thing that'll be in a fanbook of that nature. It's not like there wouldn't be a demand for it. ::rolleyes ::laugh
Blue Thunder
Actually, I could see myself typing up Aberrant: Sex as a serious e-book supplement. You know, if I wasn't already running the NoLK campaign here, and working on the Bright Continent e-book, and my own independant Trinity e-book, and other stuff. It can cover more than the sterility issue as well. The pornography business must be booming now that all the bizarre tentacle sex of hentai is a reality.Oh well. I'll add it to my "To Do Sometime Before I Die" list.
madcat82
What is the purpous to cover pornography? On the other hand, nova-human marriages/sexlife could become a rather hot topic now that I think about it, I mean in some cultures having sex with someone who does not share the same skin colour is questioned, and in many, homosexuality and bisexuality is social suicide at best. phoenix
What is the purpous to cover pornography?Interesting plot ideas involving nova porn:A teenaged nova girl is being used by a Russian crime cartel for pornography and possibly prostitution, and must be rescued and protected.Shapeshifters can perfectly emulate baseline fantasies like Shakira or Natalie Portman, not to mention mega-beauties like Alejandra. There's a plot seed in the APG like this. Some people can become addicted to pornography in the real world. I can only see this problem getting worse with the OpNet and Mega-Beauty.Two words: mega-ugliness fetish.Under the influence of mega-socials, who might pose for porn and sign release waivers that might otherwise not do so, and might regret doing so later? On the other hand, nova-human marriages/sexlife could become a rather hot topic now that I think about it, I mean in some cultures having sex with someone who does not share the same skin colour is questioned, and in many, homosexuality and bisexuality is social suicide at best.Hell, in many cultures it's literal suicide. However, most cultures in Aberrant, apart from those strongly influenced by fundamentalist Islam or Christianity, see novas as superhuman idols, and would have no problem with a baseline who does this, and only the Teragen might have a problem with a nova who dates a baseline. And even they are pretty relaxed about the shenanigans of Orzaiz and others.
Sprocket
Re: Blue Thunder's declaration-Well, since it seems that you've got an interest in doing this (sometime), I might as well be helpful & point out a couple of good resources for you. As I have no real interest in writing that book myself, you're probably the most likely to fill that demand.Whoever ends up writing "Aberrant: Sex" could do a lot worse than to take a good look at Naughty & Dice; by Christine & Tim Morgan, published by Sabledrake Enterprises & available online through SJGames' Warehouse 23. Aberrant: A Breed Apart already has rules for pregnancy & the like, but there's a ton of other good material & ideas in that book. It's definitely worth the $19.95 asking price.OTOH, those with limited funds & more of an interest in naughty tentacles could take a look at RippedSoul's free "GURPS Sex" compilation PDF, available here - http://membres.lycos.fr/greuahbeuhar/GURPS-sex.pdf. Shade Sentinel
Congratulations Phoenix! I didn't see this thread in time, I would love to help out if needed and or possible. My largest downfall is learning more about the game...of course that has never stopped me in the past. :-D
Anon
Sprocket: Nice. I've got the old HTML version saved on my hard drive from years ago, but this is nicely edited and added to. Good FindBlue Thunder: Another resource you could use is the Guide to Unlawful Carnal Knowledge. It's a d20 resource for D&D, but it's got some good material (and INMO most of it is better than what was found in the Book of Erotic Fantasy by Valar Project, Inc) that you could possibly adapt. I actually considered trying to convert some of it for use in a Rifts game, but that game didn't last long enough for me to actually start. Oh well.
