Hey, gang! Unless someone has major plans to make, I'm probably just going to leap forward a bit in time so that you're all ready to start the first mission.

And don't worry, B-man - there will be plenty of time for you to hit on Vanderlay later :P

Sound cool to all?

Okay, I'm giving the last few stragglers 'til tonight to post, before I continue with the mission. That will be something like....nine hours from now, most likely.

I'm not going to write anyone out, so no worries there.

Watching every one stroll in, Erik makes a metal note of everything being brought by the rest, and makes sure nothing is forgotten(survival roll).

What do we need metal notes for? Couldn't you just make normal paper notes? Metal is so bloody heavy!!

Okay, I reread most of Trans-D to reaquaint myself to my own game ::wink, and I realized that Prof is not the only player who's been MIA for a bit. Has Damor been posting anywhere else? If not, I might set both of their characters aside for later return, if they wish to play again. I'll have a new post up soon, possibly tonight.

Trans-D shall rise again! :jumping40:

Looks like we are quickly seperating the Mega-Stamina types from the non-mega-stamina types. Makes me wish I'd sprung for another dot in Weather Manipulation.

And as bad as this is for us, think about the poor baselines. Those 3 dice in Resistance are coming in real handy right about now.

This made me look over my last post, and I realized I'd made Hood seem tougher than he is. I edited it accordingly. What I meant was that 10 centigrades up or down doesn't make much difference when it's that cold, not that the crossover from Prime to Permie was a minor change...

A dot of mega-stamina and adaptation is all it takes. Not much of a battleship, but handy in scouting out hazardous environments.  ::ninja  ::cool
Very true. I had two extra nova points and went with Healing instead, which (also granted) is somewhat less useful right now.

I disagree. Many times I’ve wished for even 10 degrees. 18 is huge... or at least it should take the edge off. The air being still is also a huge bonus right now since it should cut the wind chill to nothing and our gear should be working really well.

Ironically direct weather alteration could/would have even more of a change, but that's a lot more risky without more information (like knowing what the weather is actually like right now).

Not to quibble or anything, but has H given us any idication that there's any sort of direction to the exit of the cave, or is our fatigue wearing friend Hood leading Faith off in a random direction into the darkness that surrounds the small pool of light cast by the onion, as well as out of the small area of raised temerpature?

Quibbler. ::tongue Good point though. I imagine that any characters who can see in the dark(I assume Pat can), will be able to discern an exit. Of course, there are other ways too...air moving into or out of that hole, an area that's lighter or darker than the rest of the walls, etc.

Plus, it's not clear exactly how dark it is in there. H described being able to see the glistening ice on the walls, for example. It might just be a little dark, not pitch black.

Hood might be moving in the wrong direction. OOC I don't think so, since his was the voice the person closer to the exit picked up. Being able to see frost on the walls doesn't sound like absolute darkness to me, and if it is pitch black, he's got a flashlight. And the 'small' area of raised temperature stretches to at least 25 kilometers from Alex's character. I'm not worried... ::tongue

There's enough light from the nexus to partially illuminate the walls, mostly reflections off the ice. There's only one exit from the cavern, and it could be detected by either a slight draft, or the fact that tunnel is pitch black, the light not being able to penetrate far into it.

Well, as Heritage has said here, he's normally pretty open about allowing people to join. Don't know if this is the best point in the story, though - since we've just started the mission - but it shouldn't be impossible. We all like new blood to join the games, after all...

Oh goody. I did read through the entire (yes, entire) Trans-D thread first, so I have a general idea of what's going on, and PM'd Heritage with a concept for one of the NPCs he mentioned. I already wrote up a character sheet (though I'm waiting for his approval, a'course) too, and if that's not good enough I'll write up another one. A shortage of character concepts is not one of my faults. ::tongue

Though he might not let me pull out Mr. Bleedalot (ie, 30 NP -> 60 maimed health levels). ::laugh

Well, that's just 14 pages on my setup... what's the big deal? ::wink Just be happy you're not joining one of the Quantum Zero stories - may they be resurrected glorily - and have to read through 311 pages split between two topics and storylines... ::tongue

Ok, I will be playing Specialist Judy Kapriski. Her best skills are engineering (prodigy, natch, and Inventive Genius), sniping, demolitions, and telling people what to do. Her weaknesses are physical combat, resisting torture, and anything involving good looks (Disfigured). Her only quantum power is Matter Creation, which she mainly uses for temporary stockpiles of ammunition, very short-term spare parts, or molds for building things.

Judy Kapriski should be 33 years old. Prior to her eruption, she was in the Army Engineering Corps, stationed in the evacuated tent-town around Reno, NV. Her burn scars are from when she was on the demolition squad, and a mistake of one of her teammates ended with several square blocks of town in flames, three teammates dead, and foru others hideously burned. Because of this, she wears a set of goggles and a face mask almost constantly, to help hide the worst of her scars.

She erupted four years prior to present time, when a senior member of the Teragen (someone with Quantum Authority) appeared in the Reno camps, erupting a dozen baselines before escaping in the confusion. After realizing that her own powers were not going to fade away (as some of the others' had) she fled the area, going AWOL and eventually joining up with the Greens six months later. Her engineering skills and mega-intelligence made her a valuable employee in constructing WS Charlie, where she learned about the TIG and demanded to be on one of the teams sent through. Of course, after spending eighteen months in a winterland hellhole, she probably regrets that now - if she's even still alive.
