Hey everyone,

I don't know about you but I can't keep up with everyone's character, the clubs they're in and what makes them noticeable/different. To help in the roll call and to have a cheat sheet to look at as we familiarize ourselves, please post your characters:

Here's a list of named characters who are in various clubs. Obviously there are lots more NPCs in these clubs too, these are just the ones who have cropped up so far (& who have some link or significance to one or more PCs). The numbers are the character's Backing rating (& therefore their social 'rank' within the school - by default characters, at least respectful characters, will tend to defer to those of higher social rank - by bowing lower, for example).

Akaji Maro

Background

Akaji Maro is the son of a prominent business man and is something of a phenomenon at the school. Leader of the Junior High debate team and class presidentl, he's rich, handsome, athletic and popular. He's a good leader and maybe, just maybe, you don't need to throw lightning bolts to be a hero after all...

Backing: 4

Influence: 1

Club: Debate (leader)

1B Class President

Distinguishing feature: Almost constantly followed by Keiko Ishida carrying a touchboard comp and jotting notes as he talks.

Good idea Ezekiel. I just posted mine in the OOC thread, but he'll get buried like everyone else soon enough, so here he is a second time.

Kazuo Kanai

Ally: 2 (Ryoko Mendo)

Backing: 0

Influence: 0

[attachmentid=276]*

Not much of anything about Kazuo Kanai is known for certain by the students of Nippontai High, but this is mostly because he hasn’t started attending yet. Most of the students (at least those who pay attention to gossip) have already heard of him though, on account of the surprising number of rumors that seem to be preceding him. Some of these are fairly mundane but still moderately scandalous (he’s apparently been held back a year and so is nearly as old as the upper classmen), while others (he’s a transfer from “Monster Island”, he was held back after spending a year in the hospital because of some kind of Yakuza conflict he was involved in, he’s dating Ryoko Mendo) are pretty fantastic and almost certainly false. But the only student who actually seems to have met Kazuo is, strangely, Ryoko Mendo, who apparently met him while he was recuperating in the hospital. Maybe there is some truth to the rumors…

Kazuo Kanai is, to put it mildly, not a nice young man, which makes his friendship with Ryoko even stranger. Some might even go so far as to call him a jerk (and others might call those people charitable for doing so). Kazuo does what he wants, when he wants, how he wants, and he doesn’t care what others think about it. He smokes almost anytime he can manage it, drinks regularly, and is always willing to abandon homework in favor of a good party. He’s a slacker, a rebel, and a consummate thug. In a nation full of conformists, he is a nail that refuses to be hammered down. While he doesn’t go hunting down opportunities for them, Kazuo is always ready for a fight and never backs down from a confrontation. While he may not be the smartest guy around, Kazuo’s plenty quick-witted and clever, and nothing ever seems to faze him. He’s the kind of “bad boy” that all the guys love to hate because of how the girls inexplicably (and for no logical reason) flock to him. This despite the fact that he makes the most depraved and evil students that Kurotech Tech has to offer look like model students with impeccable manners. In fact, Kazuo apparently has no morals whatsoever.

And yet if one of the rumors is to be believed, he got all of those scars of his while trying to save a young girl from an entire gang of Yakuza.

Distinguishing Marks and Points of Interest: Kazuo is covered in scars (as one can see in the pic above), though precisely where he got them is a point of debate. In addition to the scars on his face and neck, part of Kazuo's right ear is missing, and his torso and forearms also sport a myriad of scars, ranging from long slashing scars, to what appear to be stab wounds, and even two little round scars above his right shoulder blade that look for all the world like bullet wounds. Because the scars that run across his forehead and over his eye look like a cross, some of Kazuo's aquaintences have taken to calling him "Kurusu" (the Edo period way of saying "crucifix").

As a student, Kazuo is at best average. While not exactly stupid (and not exactly smart, either), Kazuo just doesn't care enough to apply himself in classes, and it's a bit strange that he's even at the Osaka Academy for Gifted Children. Out of school is where he's in his element, and he has enough street savvy to get himself just about anything or anywhere he wants (and has the cash for).

Though he doesn't display them needlessly, Kazuo's skills as a street fighter are almost peerless. His favorite weapon is his own body, which he uses to great effect in any fight, but he is capable of using just about anything else he can get his hands on with equally painful results for his opponents. One skill that he's never shown off, and which he secretly hopes he'll never have to use again, is his experience with firearms.

Unfortunately, none of these skills seem to be getting him anywhere in school, and he's starting to think that he may actually have to pay attention in his classes if he ever wants to get anywhere with his life.

*((Yaru Ka means, roughly, 'Want a piece of me?!', and is not considered a polite thing to say.))

Kenshi Koizumi (PC - Alex Green):

Starting school at the beginning of the year it was universally believed that Kenshi got into Nippontai High because his father happens to be the mayor of Osaka. Since then that general opinion has started to fade, as Kenshi has proven to be a capable student, & a promising member of the kendo club. Kenshi has two sisters at the school in the two higher years, both popular & good-looking girls who hang around with the popular & good-looking set - which tends to get him all the wrong sort of feedback from his more 'jock' inclined peers who fancy his sisters or their friends.

Mentor: 3 (His Father is the local Mayor).

Backing: 0 [Kendo Team]

Influence: 1 [Faculty]

Background: Koizumi Kenshi is the youngest of three children, but his older siblings are both girls and thus not the heir apparent by his fathers old style standards. Koizumi Kenshi has always received special treatment because his father is very influential (he’s the mayor). Driven by his father, he has also always tried to deserve it. He gets less respect than he deserves for the latter. It’s often assumed his grades are from expensive tutors or family influence; Kenshi gets less credit for his hard work. He’s moved heavily into Kendo and Judo top compensate, on the field no one else can take credit or blame (ironically his father is thrilled with this warrior training).

It is rumored (correctly) that Kenshi’s father pulled strings to have him tested and admitted. Given the choice of clubs, being male of course he picked Kendo because of the teacher.

Unusual skills: Kenshi can both drive a car and fly a plane and has for years. Kenshi’s father is an avid pilot (Kenshi’s grandfather killed himself in a suicide run during the war) and he has tutored Kenshi in a single prop plan since he was 10. Learning how to drive was just training for the flying.

Appearance: Kenshi has black hair and eyes, not very tall or short, not exceptionally hansom or ugly. In short he is pretty generic for a 14 year old male.

Salene Minowaka

Female

Backing 1 (Debate club Secretary)

Influence 2

A short description,

Salene has extremly long black hair (ankle length), with what appear to be a dark shade of blue giving it a blue sheen. Standing just at 5'6" weighing perhaps 100 lbs soaking wet. Dresses in her uniform rather conservatively considering her beauty. Her uniform is always crisp, appearing to be freshly ironed. She generally keeps her hair tied in a long braid curled over her shoulder and down her front.

Nice and personable, she has yet to amass any friends at the school based on her rather hefty tardy and no time to meet even her class. Not much else is known at this point.

Miyako Miyamoto (BlueNinja) female

Backing 3 (Art Club President)

Influence 2 (teachers, due to high-ranking military parents)

Miya-miya (a nickname from her parents that she loathes, but won't admit) is a brilliant artist and a complete stickler for the rules. Rumors around the school say that her parents, high-ranking members of the Japanese Self-Defense Force (mother) and the US Navy (father), put pressure on the school to admit her despite her not-quite-meeting the academic standards. Miyako is stuck living in the dormitories, with a rather small stipend from her parents. She's managed to take over the Art Club presidency thanks to her knowledge (or abuse, if you're feeling uncharitable) of the rules of club membership. She is also a mediocre archer who would be in the Archery Club if she wasn't so busy. Miyako is a likeable enough student, but her lack of popularity comes mostly from her refusal to break the rules herself (though occasionally, she can be convinced to "overlook" an infraction or two).

Miyako looks like a perfectly average Japanese girl, except for her hair, which is a brownish-red color that detracts from her otherwise good looks, rather than improve it. She dresses like she was prepared for a military inspection at all time, including her pageboy haircut. Sadly, this usually serves again to distract people from her good looks, rather than impress.

Ken Yamada (Bahamut810, Male)

Backing: 2 (Art Club Vice-President)

Influence: 0 (he has not really impressed anyone)

Ken loves what he does. Well...unless he dosen't like it. He will try anything he thinks might be fun to create with (which has led him to experient with canvas art, sculpture, manga, photography and performance pieces), but has been known to abruptly abandon a project that he feels wont work out (much to the wrath of the Art club). He does seem to be quite knowledgeable in general, but is especially interested in history. Something that seems to have a few people in class asking for his notes often. He takes what he can glean from the opnet (people, places, events, other images) and school to add to his own works to make new pieces.

He is very much the artist at heart, and at times it seems that he is overinduldging himself at times. Otherwise he is a fairly normal high schooler who stays up too late on occasion.

One of the oddest quirks some members of the Art club (and some other members of class who have wanted his help studying) is that he will never invite anyone to his home to study or work on a project, even if its his idea to do it or there is no room at the other peoples houses. It is strange, but no one has had the inclination to push the issue.

Female, O+, 157 cm, 50.7 kg, Black hair, brown eyes. Bad haircut (got gum in her long hair and had to cut it boyishly short). Unable to get a school uniform yet (too expensive). Jinsei Aki

Background

The popular vice-president of the judo club, Jinsei has been at the school since the start of junior high. His family is wealthy, but Jinsei seems to get on with everyone - his calm nature (not to mention the judo club's national success) appealing to fellow students & teachers alike.

Backing: 2

Influence: 2

Club: Judo (vice captain)

Jinsei Aki is the scion of a wealthy, samurai bloodline. He's always been placed under high expectations by his parents, or at least his father, who is a highly trained and moderately well-known martial artist and businessman. For this reason, he's been pushed to excel in order to one day manage the family assets. He has attended the school since the 6th grade, and has participated in the Judo club for that long. By this time, he is its vice president. He does take his responsibilities to the school and his family seriously, but he's willing to take risks, and there are some things (such as honor, and love) that he values even higher..

Jinsei Aki balances a calm and polite exterior with a deeply caring interior that he shows to next to no one. Morals are deeply ingrained into his nature, and he would unhesitatingly take a bullet for someone he had never met before. He is widely liked even in the fractious and cliquish atmosphere of Nippontai High, for the relaxing effect of his calm nature.

Kohana Mitsu

Club: School newspaper

Backing: 1 (sports editor)

A good looking, but quiet, girl. Kohana & Jinsei have been best friends since junior high - despite the school ban on students dating most suspect that the two are 'more than friends' - although no one has yet proved anything... Kohana is a member of the school newpaper club &, surprisingly considering her gentle nature, reports on school sports activities. This seems to involve spending a great deal of time watching the judo club practice...

Kohana herself is fairly withdrawn, but every bit as intelligent as Jinsei. Her natural perception nicely complements his own quick mind, and he’s learned to listen to her intuition. She is relatively good-looking, and posseses a kind of quiet dignity, and a warm sense of humor.

Seiji Yasuhara

Backing: 1 (Newspaper Club, Entertainment Editor)

Influence: 1 (Famous, Recognizable Family Name)

Prof summed him up well in the OOC:

Admitted to the school at the start of the year, Seiji is known to have moved from Tokyo to Osaka in order to attend. He is now staying with his uncle who has a small reputation as a local 'kook' - living all alone (until Seiji moved in) in a large house on the outskirts of Osaka. Seiji himself is something of a loner, & has been known - so the rumours say - to talk to himself.

This evidence of 'weirdness' has somewhat polarised the school's pupils in their opinions on Seiji - some dismiss him as a 'freak' ('just like his uncle!'), while others (mostly the girls) find him strange & mysterious. This latter attitude is compounded by the fact that Seiji has striking good looks & a natural charm which is hard to resist.

Adding to Seiji's appeal is the fact that it didn't take long for his fellow pupils to discover that his older brother is the Toru Yasuhara - third baseman for the popular Yomiuri Giants, & his older sister Noriko is the star of famed director Kunihiko Tomioka's last hit film! OpNet rumours suggesting that Noriko may be staring opposite famous (& possibly Nova) actor John Fabry in his next Hollywood film have only fueled interest in Seiji's siblings... Interest he seems to prefer to play down.

Seiji is the entertainment editor for the school newspaper club, he seems to know everything there is to know about cutting edge music, & regularly writes a column on the subject. He is also the heart-throb fantasy of more than a few girls at the school - although, to date, he hasn't shown any real interest in any of them.

Yushiro "Tora" Miyamoto

Background:

Yushiro Miyamoto spent his childhood in the countryside. His mother passed away when he was 2, due to complications in her second preganacy. His father, Tetsugoro, was a direct descendant of Miyamoto Musahi and kept the old ways of Bushido alive through the martial practice of Aikido. These ways he passed on to his son.

Country life was peacful and idyllic, though the urbanization of Japan continued to encroach.Tragedy struck once more when a joyriding tribe of Bosozuku decided to crash in on the bumpkin town for some malicious mischief. Tetsugoro passed away in front of his son, while acting nobly in the defense of an elderly man the Bosozuku were tormenting. Despite his martial prowess, and the swift defeat of three of his attackers, a fourth had drawn a gun and shot him in the back. Their mood broken and composure shocked, the Bosozuku fled, leaving 9 year old Yushiro an orphan.

He was sent to Osaka-town, to live with his uncle, Yoshihime. The black sheep in the family, Yoshihime had rejected the old ways of his older brother and their father, seeking out the coin and modern values of the city. In spite of his choices however, Uncle Yoshi possesses his own kind of practical wisdom.

Arriving to the city in the wake of his parents death left Yushiro, angry, confused, and culture shocked. it was difficult for him to practice the ideals of harmony he had been raised with and sought out means of directing his anger. After getting into an increasing number of fights in school, Uncle Yoshi enrolled him in gymnastics and began to apprentice him in his mechanic shop. The physical outlet gave him structure and discipline and he took to it with zeal. A couple years later he got involved with Yamakasi...urban freerunners and inheritors of the art known as Parkour (check this out!), (and this!) further increasing his formidable athletic talent. By age 14 he had his own bike and began taking it out to race, earning grudging respect from older bikers and earning extra cash to soup up his ride.

At age 16, now a high school freshman, he is a new kid the Osaka Acadamy. Despite what his teachers refer to as his "discipline problems", Yushiro is actually possesed of a fearsome will and ability. He has, in fact, an enourmous amount of discipline. His problem is with authority, and his rebellious nature and fierce reputation have earned him the street name of Tora (Tiger) which he goes by most often. He was brought into the fold of Nippontai High due to his high level of latency (Node). though far from a "model student" the Nihonjin government nonetheless wants to keep an eye on its latents....

Backing:1 (TBA)

Influence: 1 (popular with students)
