"To my sister," Wakiki said, lifting his glass, "long life, long health, and long love." He leaned over and hugged her with his other arm, whispering, "You deserve that and more."

Omar raised his glass in solidarity with the others. "Happy Birthday Olivia." He smiled and clinked glasses with those nearest him.

The night continued with everyone having a goodtime, but wafter the bills were all paid Ryan excused himself and rose from the table. "It looks like they're ready to close now, We should all be heading back to base. I'll go get the van."

He did so and waited for everyone outside, thinking about how fun and normal everyone there tonight really seemed. It was hard to tell that these people all had abilities beyond those of regular people.

"It's nice to know that deep down we're all still human."

Cam pulled out his wallet and aside from paying for his and Olivia's dinners he also left a $100 tip on the table. It had been a good evening and day and a damn fine meal. He had been pretty quiet during the meal but he'd gotten to know these fellow specials and he thought he could trust them, besides, they were all in the same boat. What the IOA intended to do would affect them just as much as it would effect him. Once he was settled in he would have to arrange some kind of joint team training exercise at the Alpha Site or something so they could have a chance to talk where they couldn't be spied on. He kept up his smile and the small talk on the way back to the base but he was already thinking about what his next steps should be.

Once in the van with the other specialists,

"Still human ... Yeah, I guess for now we really are, though I wonder how long this will last. Who would think that something as little as not sleeping alters your perceptions."

"I wonder what catalyst it will take to perhaps move us on to something different than human in outlook."

He thinks of Omar and even moreso, Kyria. Barely human, and good at playing a pseudo-human. Was this were they were all heading?
