Velvet
If any of you have been down Clark Street recently in Chicago, you've probably seen the mess I'm making of one of the buildings toward the north end. I'm opening a night club soon, and since all of you are, potentially, my guests, I'd like to get your opinions."What sort of music do you listen to?" and "Do you prefer live bands, or a DJ?" Obviously I've got my own preferences, but I'd love to hear from you guys what you'd like to see (musically speaking) at Club Babylon.
Cade
I've always preferred live bands. Though that can limit just what music is played.
Amped
I like Progressive Metal and Classical, but neither of these are really night club materials.
Doctor Nova Madigan
Eurodance is my favorite, with some trance mixed in at times.
Wakinyan
Novox dance mixes are best. More beat the better.
GDP_ST
Anything with a driving, tribal-style drum beat is my favorite for dancing. Recently, I've gotten quite attached to some of the music coming out of Africa onto the international dance scene. A lovely blend of primal and modern. Warren Verona
Who cares. I'm just going for the strippers. You could play "I'm a Man of Constant Sorrow" for all I care, as long as they're working over that pole like it owed em money.
Dorothy Roberts
Strippers? I guess it's not my kinda club.

Sam Grey
Let me get my old man attitude going: nothing beats motown or some soul. All of this newer shit don't have that "oomph" I need and that novox is cheating.

She is a hotty for a freshman. Both Dorothys are actually very cute and trouble with a capital T for me. So I guess what I am saying Flicker is, maybe you are right. Doctor Nova Madigan
Are you so hard up for smart-guy points that you needed to score one off a newbie like me? You must be getting slow in your dotage.

Not that I should blame you, most people have an odd reaction to the furball in person.
Velvet
Thank you all for your responses! You've definitely helped me sort out a large part of the music issue, and I appreciate the input. Hopefully we'll have enough variety to satisfy most of you.(My personal taste, for anyone interested, runs more to Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, and Otis Redding than synth-anything, but I'll listen to anything that can make me move.) GDP_ST
Personally, I'm waiting with bated breath for Wakinyan to have daughters of his own.Though not a malicious man, the thought of him with teenage daughters brings an ironic chuckle to my lips. Sakurako Hino
Waki, let Dorothy have her childhood. She'll grow up fast enough. Quite frankly the only music I've truely wished to listen to recently has been things you'd hear in an orchestral hall. After the second Karaoke session I have had a disdain for popular music. Wakinyan
If you notice I didn't touch either Dorothy. I was commenting nothing else. As for dealing with any child of mine and Slattern. There really isn't a shotgun big enough to possibly deal with that.
Slattern
Hmmmmm, Bubblegum Pop, Old old school country, Motown, Bob Segar, metal in its variety of incarnations, Rap, and....anything you can fuck to.
Sam Grey
That was the point of half of those motown songs, Slattern: the build up to fucking.
Sakurako Hino
1812 Overture. Best... Climax... Ever. Try it sometime. But don't actively listen. FEEL it. Full bass. Let it reverberate. It will feel like you were at the battles it refers to in it's title and inspiration.
