Adventure! RPG - Adventure! Inspirations

Much like the comic series Planetary, I've tried to give each story its own atmosphere filled with the conventions of the genre. In our battle against the Ubiquitous Dragon (whom I turned into a Kuei Jin), I pulled in all of the Chinese occultism I could think of: San Francisco's Chinatown, ancient alchemists, axe-wielding tong thugs, legions of hopping vampires, forbidden temples, etc. When we took on the Machinatrix, the story had a decidedly sci-fi atmosphere: UFOlogists, mad scientists, a mind-dulling subterranean "utopian" city, etc.

I haven't run or played an Adventure game yet. Sucks for me.

I actually love noir, but the game isn't noir, so I agree with everyone here. Airship battles above New York, crazy scientists with death rays, etc.

You are welcome to join our game BT. I just posted up a tour of my characters Mega-Train. He isnt noir but about as dark as they come in pulp with elements of both fantasy and horror...
