jamat
I want to make a character who has teleport and warp powers but want to restrict him to only being able to teleport / open portals through mirrors or glass. Is there anyway of representing this in game terms and would a restriction like this reduce the cost of the powers?Any help would be much appreciated.RegardsJamat
Alex Green
Mechanically this works better with the "Transmit" power in AB:Utopia. If you can't or don't want to go that way then you are already deep into "talk with the ST" land.Ways to deal with this:1) Both Warp and Teleport function normally but fail if you don't target a mirror/glass. This is going to result in a fair sized weakness, I would put it at -3 (see the APG) but here again the ST rules. The reason it will be a big weakness is because you'll still have the normal targeting problems of both Teleport and Warp.2) Both Warp and Teleport function normally, but the special effect is that you end up in the closest mirror or glass plane. This is purely a special effect worth no weakness points (or maybe only worth -1 if the ST is generous).IMHO #1 is (or at least should be) so limiting that the power will end up being very difficult to use. If there is a mirror in the building where you want to go, but you don't know where it is, then basically you won't be able to use the power unless you also have something like ESP. SkyLion
Dude...just go for the transmit power...theres an extra called unconnected medium or something like that (dont have my books here) which was specifically designed for such things as mirror-walking, shadow-porting etc... phoenix
What does Antaeus do? Doesn't he have this power for trees?
BlueNinja
What does Antaeus do? Doesn't he have this power for trees? IIRC, Anteus is the example given for the Transmit power - and yes, he walks through trees.
