Big Eyes, Small Mouth (BESM): Nexus Earth - Chapter 9.2a The Flagship

Masane called over Francis, Eiji, and Sakura to her. "Alright what I'd like to do is take the Quarter and and the Black Lion and run to the Flagship. We have enough mecha and autonomous units to provide fifteen minutes of cover while we get the ship underway. Based on what the emperor is saying there's only a handful of opponents on the flagship, mostly on the bridge. You three will go in there, while I go handle the ones in the engine section. Once we're clear he'll restore the ship and bring her back. We'll then serve to repel any attempts to retake her."

"Any questions?"

Francis bit his lip, gauging the mission and the odds, then nodded with confidence. "I can do that. Quality of our opponents on the bridge is an issue though. Are we taking on elites, or grunts?" Saying this, he slid his dark sunglasses/sensor devices onto their proper position on his face.

"We don't know. I'm planning on at least one Dalaraan Elite guard, though on a ship that's inert, I'd wager most won't be top class soldiers. There's probably more there that are geared to keep the ship inert, as opposed to stopping raiding parties."

Francis shrugged mildly.

"Ok. I'm not going to assume a cakewalk, but sounds fine. If worst comes to worst and we have to leave the ship, I can teleport us all out. Provided we've got a friendly ship close enough at that time. But that is going down a road I prefer not to think about right now. That's all I have to say."

"Yeah, We'll have access to a dropship, but our others mecha will be busy helping plow the road back to base."

"Captain Wilder nods. "We'll buy you as much time as we can, but you'll have to hurry. We can't use our main gun, so our ability is going to be somewhat limited. worst case scenario, we can try to drag the ship with us on an in-system fold."

"Let's do this a better way." They turned to Masane. "Sakura and Eiji, you two head to the Engine room, Francis, you come with me to the bridge. Teams of two will likely go better."

She looks at Francis. "Get suited up, and I'll meet you in the hangar."

She left and went to Don her Armor.

Eiji and Sakura followed suit.

Francis departed to his room where the armor currently was kept, and he suited on, locking in the suit and interfacing with the gene-key locked teleportation and tissue regeneration features. He cleared authentication, and the neural links activated.

Once set, he performed a five-minute set of calisthenics to warm himself up and prepare for combat. Then, laser pistol holstered, he teleported out into the hangar to meet up with the rest.

Only Sakura wasn't clad in armor of some kind, both Eiji and Masane wore combat armor that vaguely resembled what Francis had, but was more bulky. "Let's go."

They boarded the dropship and waited, as the battleship began to move twoards the edge of the Shield.

Masane looked around. "Anyone got any last comments before this goes paast the point of no return?"

Eiji grinned at Francis, "When have you ever known an Op to go smoothly? As long as we survive and the job gets done thats what matters most."

He shifted the strap on his battlerifle slightly so it didn't interfere with the draw of his sword then nodded his readiness to the Captain.

They had five ships to run the blockade. Lifeboats and non essential life pods, many from the Black Lion and Avalon, were launched, loaded with explosives. One of the Republic cruisers fell victim to it, as well as a number of corvettes. It bought them a Window, Blocked now by only one Dalaraan Battleship. "What are our chances?" One of the Pilots replied "We can't get past it without killing them, they've got everything covered."

Captain Wilder considered a moment then nodded, "I'll take responsibility for it, Now, Transform the Quarter for BATTLE!"

Though out the ship warnings sounded, as the titanic warship began to transform.

Macross Transformation

The Battlship laid out an impressive volume of fire, the Quarter's shields holding, barely. All guns began to fire sending thousands of missiles, beams and gauss shells at the Battleship. Finally, the ship brought it's main gun to bear. "Blast the Bastard!"

A Torrent of Death spewed from the cannon, annihilating the warship. "Our path is clear Captain!"

"Launch dropships now!"

Eiji, Francis and the others felt the ships take off, and the mission clocks began to count down. They had fifteen minutes.

The Ships landed in their corresponding areas, Eiji and Sakura near the rear of the ship in Engineering, Masane and Francis just aft of the bridge. With the proper access code from the Emperor, they got into the ship, and could now make their way to their targets.

Masane's assesment was right, as far as numbers went on total Dalaraan, problem was, they were all Elites. This wasn't going to be so easy.

(feel free to move around in the ship. In Engineering, there are a half dozen drone mecha, and two Dalaraan Elites. There are 4 Elites on the bridge, and over a dozen drone mecha. )

There was a small open doorway leading into the bridge from the access corridor Masane and Francis took. The two used cover from the sight lines, and paused, gauging the wisdom of taking a look. Francis activated his sensor sunglasses' infrared functions, studying the live bodies beyond.

"Four Dalaaran guards, and a dozen lesser power sources, they seem to be active machines?" Francis whispered over to Masane.

She in turn took a quick look as Francis shut off his sensors, and whispered back in turn. "Damn. All four are Elites. The other twelve are drone combat mecha. I'll take those, you keep the guards busy."

Francis nodded in turn after taking a peek of his own. "I'll teleport to behind the low wall on the upper deck. When you go in, I'll be right behind you."

He then crouched down, and in a flash, was gone. He reappeared from behind the aforementioned opaque wall, hidden from sight. There was a walkway that led down to the bridge, which he could take when needed...

Masane nodded. Without a sound she lined up on the first Mecha and fired, destroying its head in a single shot. The Elites were on the move fast moving towards her, their forcefields humming to life, energy weapons appearing in their hands. Another pair of drones disappeared to headshots even as the first light laser cannon blasts played across her shield.

Francis heard the shots and sprang out immediately, darting down the walkway and firing several angled shots he knew from experience could penetrate forcefields at the Elites. Unfortunately, the speed of his appearance may have spoiled the shots, he thought.

Francis' shots went wide for the most part, but one did get through. That Elite stumbled as the shot hit him and turned, firing a barrage of energy blasts at him, destroying the wall around him. A second one turned brandishing energy weapons while the others went after Masane.

True to her word, she focused on taking down the mecha, four more falling to her battlerifle before an energy sword sliced it in half.

Under her armor she smiled. That concluded the portion of this where people other than her and Francis walked away.

Francis steadied himself and unleashed a short burst of shots at the two firing on him, striking a balance between accuracy and penetration.

His shots at the first target missed wide, but one hit the other Elite square in the chest even as he fired off bolts of green plasma at Francis. The barage of energy attacks from both cratered the ground around him, with two connecting. (80 damage each)

Masane 's Armor seemed to disappear, leaving her standing there unarmed. What happened next seemed straight out of a horror movie, or a porn. Her clothing disappeared as black carapace like armor spread from her wrist, covering her arms and legs, and just barely concealing a fraction of the rest of her. Amber irises glowed within black eyes, and her hair was blood red, and seemed almost alive. A huge blade extended from her right arm And almost as fast as with the gun, Three of the mecha died, cut to peices by swings too fast to see. A barage of energy bolts wreathed her, but non connected. The look on her face was one of pure bloodlust and desire. One had to wonder if anyone was safe from the Revealed Witchblade.

Francis felt the beams connect, but his armor took a large portion of the hit. The remainder was covered by a silver-grey fog as the medical nanites began to respond. Grimacing at the two before him, Francis tensed his body to respond for any attack.

Then, he firmly fired a penetrating attack on the more wounded Elite, switching to a regular shot on the same. The other he treated two a burst of two regular shots.

The first Elite went down, a hole burned through his chest where the rifle's shots cored right through him. The second closed, taking another shot that played across his energy barrier and scorched his shoulder, bringing his energy weapons around with unbridled force, tearing a large gash just to either side of Francis. "You're good Terran."

The other two focused on Masane, even as she destroyed the remaining mecha. The timer on Francis' suit counted down to five minutes. The blade flashed out, cutting off an arm from one of the Elites fighting Masane, even as they hit with three out of four energy blasts. The Witchblade seemed not to notice.

"Too bad I can't say the same for you!" retorted Francis, firing off a penetrating shot, followed by three regular blasts. The nanites were closing up his wounds and he was sure they would win this. All they needed was to wrap this up quickly though.

All his attacks missed, even as the Elite surged forward, his energy sword flashing several times, missing by a hair's breadth, but the final slash caught him across the torso. (100 damage)

"Better than you think Terran. I've lost enough friends to your kind."

On the other side of the battle, the Two Elites had to work together just to try to contain Masane, who'd wounded both of them badly and was covered in their blue blood.

Francis growled as the slash ripped across him, but he refused to go down. In one brisk flash, he teleported back to the cover of the upper deck, and firing one shot after the other, some well placed, if some others weren't.

Francis's shots though well aimed only hit once, illiciting a grunt as the Elite's field flickers. He brings his hands together and forms a huge energy sword, and proceeds to hack away at the walls protecting Francis. The heat as the beam passes near him hurts, actually crisping his skin as the suit begins to warn of the temperature being exceeded. (-30 ep no attacks hit, but the blade's so hot and near him.)

Francis snarled as the battle was slipping away from him. Immediately, he teleported further down the deck, still in range but well out of the sword's arc even if the Elite came after him. Then, more shots rained down.

Another shot caught the Elite, who grunted. The Deckplate glowed bright orange before the sword cut through, and the Elite came through. "No more running Terran."

"Let's finish this." He was bleeding, and his field was weakened, yet he was still fighting.

All four shots hit, and the last one finished things, coring a hole in the Elite's chest.

Back in the main room, Masane stood dripping blue blood from her foe, and ichor-like blood from her wounds. She was alone now, and slowly her wounds were healing.

Francis breathed a sigh of relief, and then teleported out in a flash, gun up as he reappeared in the main bridge. He lowered it as he saw Masane, and nodded. "Last one down. Have Eiji and Sakura finished up? We're really low on time."

Masane looked at him and for a moment, it looked like she was going to attack him. Then she straightened up and nodded. "Turn around please." Once He did, she reverted to normal and her armor reappeared.

"It's okay now."

She checked in with Eiji and nodded. "WE are good to go." "Captain Wilder send word, mission accomplished."

The Captain did so and soon the Dalaraan Flagship began moving back to the moon, escorted by the Quarter.

Masane smiled to Francis. "You did well."

"Thanks." Francis replied, wiping sweat off his forehead. Thank god that was over, it seemed. "That last Elite was nasty hard to kill. Funny though, when he said to finish this, I gave him a full blast of shots. It was over pretty quick."

"Now we'll get this ship behind a safe shield, and the balance will be a little more towards our side. If only we could blow up the ship this Hizashi is on and without him escaping though..."

Francis' wry smile suggested the last line was more along the lines of jest than seriousness.

  • 3 weeks later...

When Sakura rejoined the two of them, she was a bit worse for the wear, with some minor damage that had already fully healed, sense her body regenerated damage very quickly. She was breathing a bit heavy, but that was it. "Alright, one down, what's next on the list?"

She paused a moment to stretch a bit, then nodded at the other three present. "Well, if we're down to just the four of us, here in the bridge, let's get this ship behind the shield move on to the next step."

"It's already being handled. "The Emperor is using his connection to the ship to control it. We couldn't really do much if we tried."

She smiled. "The others did what they needed to do, and now we wait for Kai and Lily's team."

"The proper term is Asrai, we are the native inhabitants of Aradia, though I am only half Asrai. Generally, when possible, the Asrai move to oppose the activities of the inhabitants of Bazorath when we can. Of course, Aradia has a number other sentient inhabitants, some rescued, some native, and the world itself is aware. I admit, the Asrai are the source of many of the stories of angels over the years, but there are a lot of misconceptions about the matter."

She paused. "But regarding myself, my mother was human, and a demon hunter, which was how she and my father met, and eventually fell in love." For a moment, she became somewhat sad in her manner and bearing. "Though she was killed with millions of others when earth was bombarded... while I was away on Aradia."
