  1. Honestly, my workload and lack of inspiration is cutting in. You may as well NPC Columbian.
  2. Well, I missed the part about the whispers, but Doc Psy did yell angrily at him at the drop of a hat, I'll tweak the wording to fix things.
  3. And so almost immediately he was bombarded with blame, and a sense of doubt and suspicion. But Columbian had to let that go, there was a city itself at stake. "It seems like a great deal of time and trouble to set this up and then turn it into an immediate death trap." He informed the remaining ladies. "In any case, we don't have much choice." Columbian followed after Elastica.
  4. "Which is now." Columbian appeared from around the bend, fully suited and equipped now. "I am Columbian, and I wish we could have met under better circumstances. And I should mention Elastica is young and impressionable." Translation: anyone trying to explain that innuendo and trying to corrupt her would sincerely come to regret that. "We're under a time crunch, ladies and gentleman, so names, powers, any likely useful skill. Columbian, enhanced physical attributes and healing factor, strategy and tactics."
  5. Well, Daniel determined, this was going to be interesting. And probably gastronomically unpleasant, but every little bit helped, and we learned by our mistakes as much as our successes, right? "I'm willing to give this a try." It turned out, with Tika maintaining the ever too large smile and a plate of... things... that it was just that bad. The pancakes were blackened, with the occasional bit of undercooking, or somehow, evenly cooked. Daniel took a breath and kept up the polite smile. "If they're blackened like this, it means you let them cook far too long. You need to pay attention to pancakes or many other foods you cook in the stove. Sometimes you get distracted, like with me at the door. It happens." Tika looked a little sad, so he hastened to add, "AEGIS set this apartment up for you. You know how to use the Internet and smart TVs?" "Yes! I enjoy watching the reality TV documentaries." Daniel promptly decided he was not getting into that, not now. "You can use it to look up recipes and actual cooking videos. I think you would find it very helpful."
  6. Daniel examined the letter, considering the crest in particular. In this era of Marvels, many villainous and some potentially with the power to do exactly as the letter said, threats of these kinds were taken seriously by AEGIS. But that in itself would not alter the agency's priorities and decision-making to allow him to go to New York, much as Daniel already felt he had to go. The crest however, would. It was somewhat silly, AEGIS feeling the need to keep it a secret. It was on his costume, after all, and anyone could thus see it. Sure, so far he'd had only limited contact with other heroic Marvels, and generally in fights people weren't paying attention to it anyway, but still. Daniel's only guess about this policy was that it was linked to the whole covering-up of Project Columbia. For political reasons, of course. A major government super-soldier project being subverted from the Hundred-Handed Conspiracy right from the start? The powers that be, some of whom were probably part of AEGIS, were touchy about embarrassment. Director Falcher wasn't one of those, but Daniel had heard the complaints about Congressional interference before. Within a few hours, Daniel had a meeting with the Director (his status as Columbian gave him a regular speaking basis with the man himself) and had gotten him to agree to a flight north the next day. The pretext would, Daniel was told, be checking in on Tika Ump. The world had many unusual things, but a psychic villain's super-suit becoming sentient and fully aware was something very unusual, Daniel felt. Still, here he was at the door, dressed in civilian professional wear. Tika seemed like a nice young lady, according to initial reports. She'd subdued Minotaur, so perhaps he could recruit her to assist here too?
  7. Perhaps some more details on AEGIS itself, since it's going to play a definite part in Columbian's story?
  8. Columbian Gender: Male Ethnicity: Latino Age: 29 Background: Since the end of the Second World War, the secrets to reliably unlock super-powers have been a Holy Grail for governments, corporations and other powerful groups. In America, a government program known as Project Columbia sought to hit upon a method for enhancing men in sheer human ability, efficiently producing super-soldiers. The person picked for the inaugural run was Lieutenant Daniel Ramirez, a son of Mexican immigrants who had pushed past many challenges, including a racist commanding officer to achieve some distinction. Project Columbia's backers offered him many rewards, but in truth all that was required was the phrase 'for your country.' The Columbia Formula succeeded brilliantly, the combined genetic and chemical therapies changing an average but determined man into a mental and physical paragon, indeed also possessed of a healing factor. Sent out against terrorists and other high-risk missions, the newly dubbed Columbian was a great success story. Until it all went wrong. Daniel Ramirez discovered that Project Columbia had been corrupted nearly from the beginning by the Hecatoncheires organization, intent on using their creation to produce an army! Unfortunately, the Hundred-Handed Conspiracy misjudged him, and Columbian exposed and brought Project Columbia down - however the fate of the Columbia Formula remains unknown. Afterward, AEGIS recruited Columbian, as a more above-board opportunity to aid America. They provided him with the 'solid energy' devices that became part of his trademark image. Stats
  9. Squatro sighed. Had they forgotten dinner this soon, to be hungry again? No matter. He kicked off and followed them. OOC Health: 750/750 Energy: 465/465 Divine Relationship: 4/5 Own/Fail Counter: +1
  10. Oh, right. Yes, that was going to be an issue - keeping the affiliations he had secret. At least Squatro had no reason to give it away right now. To the excited and eager priestess he cleared his throat. "Well, can you keep a secret?" "Yes!" "Then you'll understand why I won't answer your question." Squatro observed with a wry grin. Ok, that was a little unfair, but HAH!
  11. Squatro tended to the flames, keeping them under control. He leaned back against the cave wall, with an odd little grin as he looked at the priestess and Karmahl. "I have a feeling Tetsuko is in for a surprise. There's a reason the clothes are off and we should stay away. I wonder how she'll process Gen's giant monkey.... form. And same for Datura. The Saiyans.are basically alien were-monkeys. Fun fact."
  12. Squatro's response was to drag one of the mechs into the path of their fellows' firepower with one hand, while punching the other crippled mech with resounding force. Finally, he let out a shout and punched right through the mech suit's body, shattering it apart. 13. Squatro weaved around the firepower, at one point grabbing a missile out of mid-air and tossing it into a nearby laser beam. The two weapon shots intersected and exploded, expending their energy harmlessly. His lip curled just a tiny bit (tiny tiny, I assume you) when he heard Tetsuko call for a retreat. His assessment of the situation did not match her's. The first exchange did not seem particularly against them - and getting injured wasn't sufficient cause for panic. Just to prove the point Squatro bounded between two mechs. Sparks crackled and metal broke as he kicked and rebounded off between the two walkers. They were trapped here with him. 14. Squatro had simply let the others talk and listened. He had a lot to think about, to say the least. The Dragonballs might have their limits, but they obviously still allowed a great deal of latitude - innately dangerous in the wrong hands. Also, the little part about their creator being in Hell (was that a real place then?) was also not promising. Regardless of what the government might say, Squatro had already come to a simple conclusion. These things needed to go to the Guardian, assuming he could continue protecting them safely... and stay there, unused. It would be sadly unfortunate for the people who might remain dead, but then again, they would be put at risk with the whole searching for scattered Dragonballs - without the benefit of a second resurrection anyway. It was better to get rid of them. Why the capacity to eliminate these artifacts had been removed, well, did that qualify as madness or what? And then the storm burst. Squatro was more than a bit annoyed at walking right into it, as he quickly twisted away from a flurry of energy blasts and ducked a shell. Yes, capturing some pilots did seem like a halfway decent concept. Feet pumping against the air, Squatro burst into the Sky Walk. Closing in on a nearby mech suit, the youthful agent began to pick apart the suit with punches in a methodical manner, inspecting the capabilities of the ambushers. 15. "Or, you know. Whatever the Tower had on when we were climbing it." Squatro muttered. Honestly, he was feeling to a leeeeeetle extent like Capsule Corp techies forgot to carry the 1, or have 2s when there should only be zeroes. But here he was, shivering in his winter overcoat, wondering why the people up top hadn't contacted him. Maybe Guardian Dende had run interference? Squatro really should have contacted them. But he didn't. Why? The question was niggling at him a tad. It's not like that fantasy voice really had gotten him worried about his identity. It's not like going all LOST would somehow make him independent. Right?! Right. "I'll take first watch." OOC Jeremy *rolls* 2d6: 6+2+7: 15 [Jeremy] 10:12 pm: Witness?
