*Biologically perfected. That's us!* Red leered from his peanut gallery in between fresh cackles of laughter. *And yeah, she smells good when she's scared shitless. Makes me wanna pounce!*

*Yeah. French is a pretty good language for swearin' in.*

*Talkin' dirty in, you mean. Wonderin' if she sounds like that in the sack, myself.*

*Since when did you think about sex?*

*The stalk is my foreplay, buddy. That got me hot enough to substitute the horizontal mambo for my usual preference.*

*Just when I think I can't be disturbed by you anymore...*

"Doc, that was worth me spendin' the next thousand years working to make a time travel device, just so I could come back and do it again." Dec grinned at Yseult as he stepped out into the clearing, moving with the grace and poise of a jungle cat. "The look on your pretty face and the swearing en Francais was icing on the cake." He grinned over at Livy, throwing her a wink before turning his smile back on Yseult. "You ain't alone, though. Ask Livy about when I ambushed her, Gwyn and Major Caine on our first group exercise. She didn't cuss as much, though. Or scream as loud."

Chuckling, he pulled out a Snickers, tearing off the wrapper with strong white teeth before biting into it. He nodded over at Charlie in greeting, even as his lifeless-seeming quicksilver eyes studied the new guy with chilly attention to detail that was at odds with the amiably curious expression on his face.

"New Specialist?"

Gwyn had been heading back towards the clearing when he heard the shriek from Yse. Going Dense he accelerated into the clearing, looking for the source of the attack on Yseult. Finding only the Specialists and Yseult starting her barrage of insults at a madly grinning Dec, Gwyn come in to land starting to join in Livy's laughter.

"So what happend here?"

"Declan was playing again," Olivia said to Gwyn, then looked over at Declan. "This is Sgt. Charlie Cole, from another universe. Kinda like Kyria, only he was here, too. Our Charlie Cole was killed in the liberation of the NID facility. He's got all sorts of interesting tales to tell, I'm sure." She gave Declan a wide grin. "Apparently, I was a very bad girl over there. I ran off." She left off the bit about Vinny; she really didn't want to think about that. She knew that he was capable of violence; even before the Air Force had hardened him, he'd been quick to leap to her defense. Not unlike the man in front of her, whose silver eyes Olivia could meet without fear.

Charlie nodded as Olivia gave the account, then picked up as she finished. "Pretty much everything that needs to be said... except you forget to add that Declan's the same old hell-raiser."

The grin was one of familiarity, though the Declan Charlie knew wasn't this Declan, at least in terms of being from the same universe as he.

"Some things don't change, then. Me bein' a hell-raiser and Livy misbehavin'." Dec said as he sauntered over to shake hands with Charlie. A thousand questions flashed through his head in a nanosecond. Was there another Red, too? Was the other Dec the same in every detail? What was happening with the other Livy? Was the other Dec helping her? And so on. He got himself under control. It wasn't this Dec's business. If there was another Dec, then he'd be handling shit just like he was here.

"So what brings you all out into this neck of the woods." he asked as he finished wolfing down the candy bar, then tossed a mischievous glance at Yseult. "Other than needin' a little excitement, that is."

Yseult gave Declan a wry grin and a miffed snort, though her lips were still curved faintly. "We are deciding that a trip to the Beta-site, for some practice and to see what the new Charlie Cole is capable of, it was a good idea, yes?"

Yseult ostentatiously looked around, glancing around the tree that Declan had materialized from, then quirking an eyebrow up at him, turquoise eyes vivid and amused. "And what of you, Sgt, Perault? The SGC, they are letting their dog off his leash to play, yes?"

The reaction to Yseult's banter was instantaneous, Dec's happy grin faltering as though he'd been slapped. Blinking, he looked away from the others for a moment, his body tense. His mind replayed the hurtful words with crystal clarity.

"The SGC, they are letting their dog off his leash to play, yes?"

"...dog off his leash..."

He forced himself to concentrate on the tone, the context. Yseult was joking, the tone lighthearted. There was no malice in her tone or posture. She wasn't trying to be cruel, of that Dec's hyper-efficient analytical brain was sure, from a thousand and one tiny cues. She didn't know, probably hadn't heard the Airmen whisper as he had when they thought themselves out of earshot. Many of the understandably uneasy humans rationalised Dec's freedom and even his life as simple pragmatism on HQ's part. "Why waste a high calibre attack dog?" he had heard on one occasion, accompanied by nervous laughter.

Just words. She's jokin'. But the words hurt. He took a soft breath, then let it out before looking back. The whole process had perhaps taken a second, but his mood was definitely deflated in spite of the smile he kept on his lips.

"Yeah. Guess they figured I'd not jump the fence if they let me run around and howl for a bit." he tried to joke, but it fell flat even to his ears.

Olivia knew Declan about as well as anyone did, save perhaps the telepath, and she had heard the whispers. Smiling quickly but with clear strain, she said, "We're always glad to have you with us." Whether that was true for everyone wasn't important. What was important was to remind Dec that he wasn't just a dog to those who mattered.

Grinning, she asked, "Do you wanna test out how poorly I'm emulating Charlie's powers, or do you want to tear into the source?" Her words were deliberately chosen and her wicked smile admitted that.

Yseult sighed. Since being released from isolation, with all the field work and the rest of the specialists had been so very engaging and welcoming that she had almost forgotten that she preferred the solitude of research and a lab. She was not cut out for witty banter and repartee, at least not with anyone beyond her husband. I miss him.

Yseult offered Declan an apologetic smile and shrug, but didn't mention her inconsiderate comment or his poor attempt at nonchalance. She nodded at the others, then began to head back to the StarGate. "All of you, thank you for the excitement and comradeship, but there is some more progress I can be making on the goa'uld anti-toxin. If you are excusing me, I will be talking with you later."

She had been working on the damned thing off and on for the last six years. With great strides taking place lately, she just wanted to finally get it done.

"You just got here!" Olivia protested softly. Yseult did spend a lot of time in the lab; being out and about would do her some good. It was clear that she hadn't meant to hurt Declan with her words, not as deeply as he had been hurt. "You should stay a bit longer. We don't get to get off base much." That wasn't true. Yseult could leave base far more than she did.

"Yeah, c'mon Doc." Dec smiled more genuinely at Yseult. "It's good to run around in the woods sometimes. Clears out the cobwebs, ya know?"

"Besides, maybe we can do some work with that telekinesis of yours. Defensive combat trainin'. I know you're a civilian like Livy, but that doesn't mean it's useless to you." he suggested, studying the blonde woman. "I don't know how much trainin' you've had, mind. Care to share?"

He looked over at Olivia and grinned. "Besides, the exercises can be a lot of fun, right Livy? Yeah, I'll give you your shot at blowin' me around all over the place with those wind powers."

Yseult relented to Declan's and Olivia's protests, rolling her eyes and turning back from heading to the StarGate. "Oh, very well. For a little time more, I will be staying," she said, her smile a bit forced.

At Declan's question, Yseult straightened a bit more, squaring her slender shoulders. "The rudiments of basic training, they were impressed upon me. I know some martial arts, women's defense courses, and can use a firearm, enough not to make a fool of myself, if with little skill." With a quick, perceptive glance, Yseult lifted up several stones, arranging them in a precise formation. "With the telekinesis, I am much more adept, yes?"

Charlie stared at Gwyn for a moment after Gwyn's boast, then smiled. Suddenly, the air under Gwyn's feet pushed up with tremendous force and so he was catapulted up into the air. The very air around Gwyn seemed to cling to him and hold him in place, then whistling wind flipped him over upside down. His shout caught the attention of everyone else.

"And you were saying?" Charlie asked smilingly.

Gwyn couldn't keep the grin off his face as he flew along with where the wind seemed to want to take him and played it up until Charlie made his oh so smug remark. At that point Gwyn simply righted himself and floated serenely at little more than a walking pace down to land in front of him, despite the efforts of the wind to move him elsewhere. Landing he kept the flight going so his 3 ton body only sank an inch or so into the soil of the forest clearing.

"I said, 'I look forward to seeing if you can blow me around when I weigh more than a ton', and apparently the answer is that you can't!"

Still grinning widely he turns to Yseult, "No need for you to try Doc, I already know you could throw me all over the place!"

Might 8 can only shift ~500kg, and Gwyn is currently

3 tons and M-STR3 which gives him 15 auto success on his

STR/Clinch roll.

I had posted that he went Dense while flying into the clearing in responce to Yseult's screams/shreik.... wink

Olivia smiled as she watched Gwyn and Charlie horse around. Without signaling her intentions, she repeated Charlie's trick, scooping up Declan and lifting him five feet off the ground. She spun him once in a lazy circle, noting how to use the currents to make him move. "Ok, this is cool," she said, grinning wryly at her teammate.

Olivia's Wits roll to use Charlie's powers (last 2 megas, as always): 5 sux

1d10=5, 1d10=5, 1d10=9, 1d10=5, 1d10=1, 1d10=8, 1d10=8

Str-Might 5, baby! I think that's enough to lift Dec.

"Wind Storm? Like catching someone in a tornado or something is it?" Gwyn pauses and looks around the clearing before turning back to Charlie

"Nah, this is still too close to base to try something like that out, we'd have to go even further afield. Speaking of which, since you can control winds and air can you use them to fly at all?"

Charlie smiled again without comment, then air rushed beneath him and blasted upward. The air molecules around Charlie were more cushy and gripped him in a less restrictive or injurious way. The smirk grew larger.

"Takes more energy, but yeah, looks like it." Charlie joked as he hovered about 2 ft off the ground floor.

Charlie nodded with interest. "Why not? Shall we?" He turned himself with the blowing wind and waited as Gwyn got set up. On the 'Go' signal, Charlie shot off.

Gwyn felt a great pressure of wind, a gust that could have blown over a normal person as Charlie whizzed and weaved through the trees on a path back and forth.

At 'out of combat speeds', 40 x Power rating 3 = 120 KM per hour.

That's approximately 75 mph. laugh

Gwyn shakes his head and shrugs to the others in the clearing, "He thinks that's fast? Oh, well see you in a bit."

With that he lifts off and rapidly accelerates until he catches up to Charlie then settles down to cruise alongside him.

"Ok, lets see how fast you can do 10 miles according to this thing," Gwyn shouts across to him.

Gwyn's normal out of combat flight speed is 250km/h, and he has several options he can use to speed up. Ending with a maximum speed of 3000km/h

Charlie merely shot off, but it became quickly apparent that Gwyn was going to surpass him like a cheetah to a slug. So he shrugged it off and prepared to offer take his licks. In the end, Gwyn found that it had taken about 12 minutes at top speed for Charlie, vs a mere few minutes for Gwyn.

Charlie shrugged at the end. "That's without my cheating, mind you, but I'll reserve unfair play for enemy combatants. Nice job Gwyn. Faster than I remember."

Dec stifled an exclamation as Livy scooped him up in the wind cage and swirled him slowly through the air. By the time he came around on his second revolution the Ranger had his arms folded and was peering at Livy somewhat plaintively as the wind ruffled his clothes and caused his shaggy brown hair to whip around his head. Livy grinned wider and gestured, spinning Dec end over end slowly, chuckling as her friend's expression and posture didn't change.

"Yeah, this'd be great on hot days." Dec said over the whistle of the breeze around him. His stoic long-suffering expression cracked and he grinned back at Livy. "Or if I was Marilyn Monroe wearin' that white dress." Livy altered the air flow once more, causing Declan to rotate upside down. Dec narrowed his silver eyes at her.

"So... You were plannin' to let me down at some point, right?"

Livy's lips twitched. "Maybe," she said softly before she lost control and flashed him a huge grin. "I was thinking about playing catch with Yseult," she added, her eyes sparkling with glee.

She glanced at Yseult. "What do you think? The fliers ran off and left us alone - shall we play a game while we wait for their return?"

She was planning to just joke, but her control slipped. The smile was gone instantly as she regained it, but she quickly turned Declan over and set him on the ground. "There, good as new," she said softly, feeling a nervous grin on her face.

Seeing Olivia's shaky grin, Yseult walked to her side, placing a comforting hand in her shoulder and giving her a encouraging smile. "You ask me to stay, yes, that I do not get out enough? A game, that is exactly what I am needing. That it is practice too, that is a bonus."

Odd, turquoise eyes glinting with mirth at Declan, the Sgt. found himself plucked off the ground once more. Instead of the caress of the wind, Yseult's telekinetic ability felt like a firm pressure all over his skin, similar to the feeling of being deep under water. The large soldier was held steady, two meters off the ground, Yseult's faint smile growing a trifle wider before she face Olivia once more.

"What are you saying, Olivie? Some more practice and a small game of Perault-Ball? I will be keeping a light touch on him at all times, to catch him if needed. And should I miss him - quel dommage - well, it is being my professional, medical opinion, that a few bumps and bruises, they will not be inconveniencing for him." Another smile up at Declan. "Will they?"
