Mr Fox
With the adjustments to your positions, the team managed to remain hidden as the Jaffa came jogging into view intent on the trail ahead. Hey didn't look as crisp and clean as you would expect from Jaffa. The were also wearing an assortment of armor no two matching. From the reports of SG1, Hathor had recruited her Jaffa from the ranks of the other system lords by using her ability to bewitch the minds of males. These would have to be remnants of those troops.(You have one free round to act in ambush before they can take action.)
Katalyst
Simms targeted the rear two Jaffe in hopes of making it appear the attack was coming from behind. Stargaizer
Samuel, being as twitchy as his is, started shooting. Mr Fox
At nearly the same instant multiple beams of Zat energy shot out from the hiding places at the Jaffa jogging by on the trail resulting in two dead Jaffa, one twitching Jaffa and one looking startled and angry.(Top of Round 1, Please post INIT at the top of your post.) Katalyst
Round 1 Int 18The ambush had almost worked out perfectly. The last remaining Jaffa would pose no problem at least as Simms was concered. That was almost to easy though. I wonder if we can keep the element of surprise any longer.Simms fires once more at the last remaining Jaffa hoping to clear the path for the others to move on. Mr Fox
Another Zat blast from Simms left the remaining Jaffa twitching on the ground, that left two living and two dead lying crumpled on the path. Moving out of hiding and inspecting them it became apparent that these Jaffa were not as shiny and clean as what you would expect. Their armor looked scuffed and in some disrepair and three of them had scruffy unshaved faces. These were not crack troops out on patrol for their lord and master. Most likely they were indeed the leftovers that had escaped death at the hands of the rebel Jaffa that Teal'c had lead to rescue SG1.
Ryan Hawke
Ryan nods. Things had gone well. "We have to move quickly, whn they don't report in their absence will be noted. He grabs the two dead ones off the path and relieved them of their weapons and any comgear they were keeping, which he promptly gives to Samuel. Afterwards he drags them off the trail. "See if you can do anything with this, mainly finding out how many more there are. Simms, Kyria, see if you can get anything from the two still breathing." z028 Riley
Kyria glanced at the dead bodies in disquiet. She was pretty sure they could have just let them pass and not had to fight, but she also wasn't the one in charge. It's a different world, a different universe. Remember, this is what you wanted, what you chose. She swallowed her sigh and knelt over one of the unconscious Jaffa, probing gently through his mind and then through the mind of his companion. She also briefly touched on the two other consciounesses she sensed.Click to reveal.. All her unease about killing the other two Jaffa disappeared as she pieced together what they had been doing since their goa'uld master had been killed by SG1. Her voice was tight with anger as she reported, "There's about fifty Jaffa at the base, Major. They're keeping the humans Hathor had here, mostly scientists and laborers, as slaves. Apparently they don't learn very well. They've set up their own little fiefdom in the same manner that Hathor ruled over them, only the Jaffa are the top of the heap now."Her disgust was nearly a physical thing and she dismissed the two Jaffa from her concern with an alarming ease. "I suggest we report back to the SGC and ask for reinforcements to clear this place out. There's probably technology here that the SGC could use, not to mention what could be learned from the scientists. I know they wouldn't be given complete freedom by the SGC or the IOA, but it would have to be a better situation for them than what they have right now." Mr Fox
To Samuel's disgust all he caught were standard communicators, nothing useful in this situation other than to let him listen in on the Jaffa's radio traffic. They didn't look to be in very good repair either. Two of them didn't even have the ability to transmit any more but could only receive.
Katalyst
Simms didn't think he could get anything out of the Jaffa, and when Kyria reported what she had found, he only nodded. "I'm not sure we have time to get back up, but 50 Jaffa seems a bit much. I got an idea that could work, but it would take all of us to pull it off." Stargaizer
He may have only gotten some communicators, but he was sure he could do something with them. If nothing else they could now monitor their comm chatter, and when the timing was right, Samuel was sure that he could send a feedback loop through them that would distract them, possibly leave some at least temporarally deafened, and disrupt their communications for a minuted or two."However many they have, we can track their comm chatter... provided anybody here speaks Jaffa... But, once we get close or need it, I'm sure that I can send a feedback loop through these communicators and that should distract them and leave them unable to communicate for a few minutes. It might even deafen some of them momentarially. So, what's the plan."All of this was said from his seat at the bottom of the nearest tree, where he had promptly slumpped after the Jaffa had been taken out, and where he'd checked out the scant tech given him. Ryan Hawke
Ryan nods, hiding his diappointment about the numbers and the tech. "Okay Seargeant, what's your plan?" Normally it would be his job to figure out an attack, but part of being a good commander was listening to your subordinate.
Mr Fox
The Sgt laid out a good plan, but with a potential of 50 Jaffa warriors to face it was just too much of a risk without checking in with the SGC first so Major Hawke called for a tactical withdrawal. The team took the dead and wounded Jaffa with them to avoid giving away that it was the Tauri returning.Once back through the gate General O'Neill debriefed the team and arranged for the prisoners to be questioned to learn detailed intel about the disposition of the Jaffa and their slaves.
