Aberrant RPG - Comic Book Heroes

I am wondering, as a pet project or whatever, if any are interested in generating statistics for their favorite or other known (or obscure) comic book heroes. Basically, to translate such as the X-men or whatever into Aberrant statistics.

There is, of course, no point to this other than for the fun of it. A sort of Errata for conversion purposes for those interested.

honestly it could just be that he has the berserker merit. I just needed something to fill in the taint points. Additionally I'm making him more of Claremonte's first run on the X-men. when Wolverine actually had something redeeming about him. I just don't like the later versions, except I will say the bone claws were a nice touch.

that's where the attunement comes in one person no problem, a group? better max out the power.

the experiance of teleporting through the sub-dimension he goes through tends to be the thing that stuns people, could work out as a stun power. course Mystique would be more resistant to it's effects.

Nightcrawler has done many other things with his teleport as well as the stun attack. For instance, he has been shown making rapid, multiple teleports to attack many people within close range. I am working on a level 4 power to simulate some of these power "stunts" and will post it when I am finished if you like.

Couldn't this be done with Combat Teleport and split dice pool? Giving him a Stun Attack that's linked to the Teleport might work, as well, but it'd get expensive....

Now, of course, this is the non-alien suit Spiderman, those stats someone else might figure out if they wish (which, quite frankly, is the best Spiderman).

ok just a few things i would change.

I'd loose the flexibility, he doesn't stretch. And the Mega-perception is not necessary nor warrented. Ultraperipheral perecption is more Radar sense than anything, Intitution is omni-directional as is.

the Web shooters being a tech device might be better listed under a seperate heading. might want to add in Tendril also.

Might want to add in Mega-stamina also. he's tougher than normal but nothing to really bounce bullets off his chest.

working on most of the defenders now, Dr Strange may have to wait until i make my Magic rules available on the site, but the others should be fun to do. got a skeleton of Namor up already, can't wait to do Gargoyle and some of the others.

Wasn't he one of the Avengers or something? Mr. Bow-and-arrows...purple/gold costume thing? He had super-eyesight and aim or something. I guess whoever made him up had nostalgia for elves or rangers from AD&D or something. (No offense Ranger!)

I just came back to this, after realizing the fact I had Hawkeye and Nighthawk screwed up, I think. Was Nighthawk Dick Grayson's alter ego? Or was that Nightwing? Jeez, they should have a club or something.

Nighthawk's real name was Kyle Richmond. The character I modeled was actually Nighthawk 2. the original was a founding member of the Squadron Supreme, he filled the Batman roll in that group.

Nighthawk 2 was also named kyle Richmond, he was from the earth of the Avengers. basically what happened was this.....

the Grandmaster had a game between him and the Scarlet Centurion (one of Kangs old aliases that took on a life of it's own). Grand master chose the Avengers as his champions and Scarlet choose the squadron as his. the Avengers won (it was their book).

Any way after the fight grand master gets the idea to make his own champions for games. he makes the squadron Sinister in the Avengers dimension. That team consisted of evil versions of the original Squadron Supreme (Hyperion, Dr. Spectrum, Whizzer adn later Speed demon, and finally Nighthawk). This Nighthawk was given a seurm from Grand Master that boosted his physical abilities to around 1 ton etc only at night.

At that point in time Kle was a self absorbed spoiled little rich bastard. naturally the avengers win (their book again). Kyle does his time and gets out. the squadron gets together and tries to trash the Avengers again but this time Kyle turns sides and helps the Avengers win.

Now Kyle has his own business which while not the equal of Star Ent. is pretty good. he decides to go hero full time. he adventures with a couple people and finally lands in the Defenders. At which time it's going through it's growing pains.

well to cut a long story short (TOO LATE!!) he ends up doing the heroic sacrific thing and supposiedly dies. Only this is comics, he gets brought back by someone in a nimbus of lite in the 90's. this time he's paralyzed totally burring the day. and he has a special sense power (the esp).

So as his new limited series comes to an end we find out he was brought back by Mephisto, and he's on his own again to fight the forces of darkness.

believe it or not I posted this entirly from memory from an old copy of Handbook to the Marvel universe, that i read back in the 80's.

Here's a full list of the members of the Defenders, the biggest NON-team in the world.

DR. Strange, Namor, Silver Surfer, Hulk, Nighthawk, Hellcat, Daimon Hellstrom, Gargoyle, Valkyire, Clea, Beast, Iceman, Cloud, Moondragon, Manslaughter, Interloper, and I'm sure I'm forgetting someone.

That's the list and it's comming. iceman and beast will appear when I do all the X-men.

Nightwing was one of Dick Grayson's alter egos that he assumed after he left batman, and went out on his own. he hooked up with another bunch and had a kid with someone, who also became a hero.?

Tetsuo was the one who received the Akira energy right? The more human looking one, anyway. If that's the case, and memory serves me well, he had mainly Telekinesis, Pretercognition, Premonition (or maybe Intuition), Flight, Force Field powers. Although I don't have the books myself, perhaps he's more of a Trinity-based character -- more mental or psion type of powers. Just opinion.

Oh, yes, and Telepathy.

As others mentioned, you could probably bump his Quantum and power levels to 5 or more. He doesn't really gain any aberrations until right at the end, but he does start to get uglier (big head or whatever) when he first gets his powers. I'm not sure how to integrate the fact that he replaces his arm with machinery. I guess you could say it's some weird attunement or Molecular Manipulation, maybe create a new power altogether.

Actually, come to think of it, Homonculous might fit the bill as far as extra limbs or Body Modification.

You know, I've been trying to convert known superheroes into these mechanics, and two have kind of stumped me: Starman and Superpatriot. If anyone has ideas for them, I'd like to see 'em.

Come to think of it, I'd like to see the new X-force, too, especially Phat. Anyway, I'll contribute one of my favorite characters:

Mega-Perception:

Sense Life/Death: The Nova is extremely intune with the flow of the Life and Death Cycle. In areas where there have been large amounts of Death the character will see a death-sign. Upon a Perception + Awareness roll the nova may attempt to sense if a character is more likely to die, this usually manifests itself as a death sign near or on the target. Cost to use 1 quantum .

Yeah, I meant Jack Knight, thanks. As for Superpatriot, I meant the Image universe's one. The fact that he's got powers like Captain America is no prob, it's the morphable cybernetics that have got me stumped.

And now that I've thought about it, Officer Dragon probably should also have Armor: 2 and 6 extra Maimed health levels. He gets torn up a hell of a lot...

I worked with someone else recently on the idea of morphable cybernetics and we came up with a couple of ideas.

The cybernetics can be the result of taint, a physical manifestation, and this covers the cyberwear appearance easily. For the morphable stuff there are two possibilities:

1. Shapeshift: limited to the cyber appearing appendages. This will let you do basic stuff and things that don't require qunatum effects.

2. Quantum construct: Rewrite the power a bit but define the range as self and limited to cyber creations based on the appendages. This seriously limits the power in some ways but since you could morph anything from a drill to a disintegrator I don't see that as a drawback.

Hmmm... a limited version of Quantum Construct could do it. He's created everything from tazers to gatling guns and lasers out of those arms, so it'd take a power with that kind of versatility to do the job.

As for the first option, with what Superpatriot has shown in the past, I think that just giving him Megadex: Flexibility (limbs only) would cover the shapechanging itself. Aside from forming weapons, he never did anything more with his enhancements than reach across a street.

How about someone doing up the stats for the original sentinals and the later versions? I must admit the orignal sentinals are the only ones that interest me but still...

On the shapeshift/construct thing there is an NPC up on a page somewhere called War Machine who has shapeshift to only metallic forms and can create weapons like gatling cannons and tasers out of his body...uses quantum points to fire them I believe.

IMO, the Shapeshift that most Transformers use would be a level 2 version of Shapeshift since they have only one or two alternate modes.

Also, don't forget Megatron's Quantum Bolt (explosive) 5! They don't call him The Slagmaker for nothing....

Well, I don't understand the ESP or the Pretercognition.

I would also peg him at an Int 4 with a MegaInt of 2 with Linguistic Genius, Total Memory, and Lightning Calculator.

I think the Ice Breath is more pre-revamp and if your going to do that he has a dozen or so other abilities that popped up for one time use.

His Wits score is a bit low and just given his raw speed I would think that he has at least a couple of Quickness enhancements.

Also, given his near worldwide unconditional acceptance I would give him at least a dot or two of MegaCharisma.

But you know, Superman, as a lot of heroes is really subjective. He's been written about for years and I am sure that you wrote from those memories that you have while I am writing from the memories that I have. Given the complete lack of continuity from one writers vision to another I am not suprised that the memories are so different.

The Pretercognition is something I vaguely remember. At one point he completely abandoned his alter-ego of Kent because he could sense disaster all over the world, whenever he closed his eyes. The ESP is is also because his senses just seem to reach soo far.

I was thinking also Node Spark, as Superman seems to be able to spontaneously just do whatever needs to be done, ya'know?

Ande mega-intelligence? Superman's just a simple farmboy wink.gif He writes for a paper yeah, but he isn't a genius or anything.

well it seems to me that your version is slightly...inbalanced.

for one thing you max his mega atts at 5 yet keep his quantum at 7. why?

second I think you are trying to much to get to the 80's pre-crisis version of Superman. the "I can move a planet out of orbit by pushing" guy. I think that could be a mistake.

A little something I like to keep in mind when doing conversions is "different universe, different rules of physics." it's a catch all that can be used to balance characters from different comic universes.

for instance take the DC RPG (old) benchmarks for strength. Superman could lift somewhere around 100,000 tons. now if you did a direct weight for weight transfer of Thor into the DC game he could only do around 100 tons. In the DC game that's about the same as The Martian Manhunter. Anyone really think that Thor is THAT far below Supes?

ok I limited him to a max 5 in any att, mainly because I don't like the idea of having over 5. also figured max around 65 soak to be in the ball park, he can take a lickin but keep on tickin, and he HAS died.

for the Taint and aberrations took them direct from the book. guess I was being generous limiting his vulnerabilities and all. if you want add in weakness to kryptonite, Magic. he has also demonstrated a certain weakness to psionics but that's very minor.

As you can see the character starts with No points in quantum and therefore no powers. It must be bought using freebie or Nova points.

Quantum & Power:

Latents are limited to a max of 3 points in quantum and a starting of 2 quantum. As such they can only use powers of level 2 and down. They also cannot use Mega-attributes. They may use the less powerful Hyper-attributes. Overt displays of Quantum power are also not allowed (Q-bolt and powers, which are flashy like that.) Powers are also limited to a maximum rating of 2, except Hyper-Attributes that may go up to 5

 Backgrounds: 1/dot

 Willpower: 2/dot

 Backgrounds: 1/3 dots

 Willpower: 2 dots/ 1 point.

Hyper Attributes:

Hyper-Attributes is similar to Mega-Attributes but much less powerful. For every 2 dots in an attribute the nova may purchase 1 enhancement. No enhancements are provided initially and must be bought separately

The additional dots provided are only usable as extra dice and may not be used to reduce difficulties. These powers are meant mainly for Latent Novas, not fully erupted one.

Hyper-Attributes cost 5 nova point to buy, and [Current rating X 3] to increase. Enhancements cost 3 Nova Points to buy and 5 experience to purchase after character creation.

the powers are absolutly optional, made more to bridge the gap between attribute 5 and Mega 1. I didn't add in all the flaws he could have, lets face it psychologically this guys a mess.

Well Saprtan the reason you don't see those heroes up here is because, currently I have very little information on them in the way of stats I can convert.

Those characters are more than the sum of their powers people who can do lots of stuff they don't need powers for. Trying to quantify them is rather usless since we don't know every little thing about them.

If you can make them from the scant iota of information available go ahead, powers are easy, skills talents, backgrounds that's the hard part.

I refuse to put out a shoddy or half-assed attempt about characters poeple seem to now a days regard as sacred. It would be unfair to do to the players and the creative talents behind the characters.

also just because I don't do them, that's no reason for you not to. have fun go with it.
