For Galiana, it wasn't particularly comfortable carrying Shinji, but he wasn't a large young man, so it was bearable. As she took of towards the west, she would hold this course for hours. Finally she picked up the undeniable scent of Demon, and of course, soon afterwards, a fresh kill.

Following her powerful nose, She found the kill site, an entire family of deer, buck, doe, and two fawns lay half eaten on the ground, stinking of demon, the scent of blood everywhere, masking everything.

It was only then that they noticed the wind had stopped, and not a sound could be heard, save their breathing, and the steady beating of their hearts.

Shinji paused, just knowing something was wrong. Subconsciously, he already knew. He hung still on Galiana's back.

“Off.” The word was growled softly as Galiana searched the night for their enemies. If Shinji was as smart as he seemed, he’d know to get off her back.

Naturally, Shinji got off and scooped up the stick with commendable response time. One might argue chicken-scared, but let's be honest. He was out here, in the dark night, hunting a demon when he was the one member of the trio who lacked any effectiveness in the attack.

Then it did occur to him... Tezara had two swords, right? Perhaps he ordered her to give him one... was careful about not getting attacked... yes... "Tezara, come." he said softly, "I want one of your swords, too."

She nodded, and held out a hand. "Here" a sword materialized from pure mana. "This should help you enough, it's called "Derflingr" It as a master at training others in swordsmanship, just flow with it's movements."

Derflingr has the following stats weapon 8 melee attack 2(iimbue) melee defense 3 (imbue) penetrating 1 piercing 1 multidimensional.

There was a chittering sound then a crash, as a spider bigger than Galiana sprang from the forest, each leg ending in either a wicked talon, or savage looking pincher. Tezara parried two attacks, and threw the spider back. It was only fortune that Shinji summoned her, because it would have landed on him. "Hellspider, a baby one. be careful. the webs are nearly as strong as forged steel, and it's venom will boil your organs."

There was no roar of warning or intimidation; Galiana was well beyond either. The demon was here to fight and would not be turned aside or given quarter. Her hybrid form streaked forward in a blur of black and silver, mismatched eyes glittering with fury and determination.

Her claws tore into the spider-demon, shredding chitin and flesh. Even as her front claws raked at the spider, her rear claws came up to add their own violent attack to the monster.

The attack enraged the demon, and it chittered, as it lashed out at Galiana with it's talon tipped leg. At the same time it sprayed a stream of web at Tezara, who dodged nimbly, and grinned. "Stupid thing.."

Shinji barely had time to take the sword and feel its weight in his hand, before the advance guard of Hell descended. It was a baby Hellspider, fine. It still looked scary as hell. Bracing himself, he let Galiana and Tezara take its attention, before sidling over to the beast's side and trying to stab forward with Deflingr.

Rattled as he was, his thrust missed the struggling beast all together.

Tezara lashed out, her swords cutting deeply into the spider's abdomen, as it tried to defend against the three of them.

This was almost effortless for her, but still She was worried about Shinji.

Galiana didn’t notice Shinji’s ineptitude or Tezera’s skill; she was too busy lashing out at the monster. Her first claw strike missed, but her raking attack bit deeply into the spider’s armored shell.

The spider reeled in pain from the other attack from Galiana, and Spit a green substance at her (DC 14 dodge, 40 damage, 10 damage a turn afterwards for 3 turns.)

It lashed out again at Tezara, who deflected it with her swords, and spit web at Shinji (DC 12 to dodge no damage, takes 30 damage to it to break free, around his feet)

Just flow with the movements, she said. Shinji reminded himself, and let his mind go of trying to think for his body. The mana sword flashed - parting the web in two, and then Shinji found himself reversing direction, hacking at the side of the Hellspider and feeling the weapon bite.

Galiana didn't panic when she saw the glob of goo coming at her. Instead the cat leapt into the air, twisting so that it didn't strike any part of her.

When she landed, it was only for a second. In the next heartbeat, she pounced the demon, landing on the thorax and sinking her teeth into the back of its head. Her grip established, she sank her front claws into the shell of its back and heaved. With a crack, the thick chitin snapped from the pressures she was putting on it, pulling away from its body.

The spider screamed as its back was flayed in one terrible motion; ichor sprayed and filled the air. Galiana tossed away the shell and prepared to dig into its meat, only the demon bucked and tossed her off its back. Her claws failed to slice into its exposed back before she was sent tumbling through the air. With a twist of her body, she landed on a downed tree trunk before turning and throwing herself back into the battle.

The spider dropped like a puppet with it's strings cut. Screaming in pain, it couldn't really move, it's nerves seemingly cut. Still it lived. Tezara raised her sword and scowled. "too easy." She swung her sword and separated the head from the thorax, and nodded. "We should get going, I can dematerialize and come back when we get to the next demon, You should be able to get to them, as you run much faster than normal. use your discs to return to the cabin, then set off after one of the other teams. We'll only have time for one before sunrise."

Galiana didn’t like taking orders but she knew now was not the time. The proper order of statuses could be reestablished later. Shifting, she quickly activated the disk; the forest faded and became their now-familiar cottage. By the time Shinji had joined her, Galiana had shifted back to her big cat form. “On,” she grunted at him. He was barely in place before she took off again.

Kaori had already proven she could handle herself. Amana seemed competent with the bokken, and Anne could fly. That left Kohaku—Photoclub Boy—and Sachiko. Their trail wasn’t hard to follow and Galiana raced into the darkness, straining to make it in time to help.
