Big Eyes, Small Mouth (BESM): Nexus Earth - Day 5: Unforgivable

Georgi couldn't take his eyes off of the doctor. Amane?! He wanted to run to her and embrace her in his arms. No! It couldn't be her. She was barely alive when we left. Besides, this woman hasn't reacted to me like Amane would. Still the likeness was striking and he needed to know.

"I'm sorry, Shizuru, but I need to ask you something, and I hope you don't take it the wrong way?" His voice was steady and he was fighting back tears. "You look exactly like someone who is very dear to me." he paused, taking a deep breath. "Do you know Amane Kanuac?" His heart began to palpitate in anticipation of her answer.

Shizuru's eyes light up as Georgi questions her. "Well I should certainly think a mother knows her daughter yes. As to her being someone dear to you, I hadn't heard about that from her yet, must be something fairly recent. How is she?"

There was the question she hadn't asked... and one that brought Kai even practically skidding to a halt. no one had told her what had happened, and now that would come back to haunt them.

Her mother! Georgi realized that he'd started a series of questions that would lead to them having to tell Shuruzu that her daughter was gravely ill. Kai's body language told Georgi the same thing. Still, the woman had a right to know why he was there.

"Madam," Georgi gave a slight bow in deference to her. "It is my love for your daughter that I am here in this world." His mouth dried as he sought the words to tell her about Amane. "She put herself in front of an attack meant for me, and was gravely injured in the process."

He kneeled on the floor in front on Shuruzu, his head bowed. "I come here seeking a rare flower with healing abilities to cure her. I will give my life in the search for it."

Shizuru nods her head. "She is a Lieutenant after all, it is her duty to protect others, and if need be do so with her life, just as it was once mine and her father's." She seemed unmoved by her daughter's plight.

"When one saves the life of another, their lives become intertwined, their fates linked. That she saw you as worthy of being linked to her is all I need to know, now Rise Georgi and accompany Roshi. He will do what he can to see to it that you can go back and save my daughter. The flower you speak of is know to us here, but itonly grows in one region of this world. Thus it is quite hard to obtain, short of massive displays of force our ancestors swore never again to use."

"I do have one question though, who attacked you in such a way that she felt you couldn't survive the attack and she had to intervene?"

Saito entered the infirmary door and looked over at the unconcious Ibis being tended to by Shizuru. He nodded to Georgi but waited silently for them to finish their conversation.

Her response to her daughter's suffering was surprising. She showed the same maturity and resolve that Amane did when faced with a crisis. As he rose to his fet, he answered her question.

"It was a former Satoshi teammate of hers. His name is Takashi. She threw herself in front me, taking the full force of his first stage Bankai attack." His deference for the elder Kanuac was evident. "If it had not been for her selfless act, I would have perished."

"So he finally decided to spur things forward then did he?" She seems t be almost amused.

"If that's the case all of you are lucky to be alive. He drains life energy from those nearby when using it in order to fuel his sword's dark power. If Ever there was a weapon we helped create I regret, it is that sword."

"Considering your prowess, there is no way any of you defeated Takashi, and I surmise he wasn't alone in this. Other Captains stood with him. "I assume Amane and her Captain Nagare, who that young woman in there happens to be the daughter of, stood with you, but there had to be more.

Who stood with whom, and in what I can only surmise is a Satoshi civil war, who is alive with you and who eats at Takashi's table?"

Her face darkens. "What of the three battleships, whoever controls those may as well control the entire Sol system. We designed the Nadesico to be able to destroy planets with a single shot."

"Oh!" Lily jumps a little, realizing that the question had been directed not just to Georgi.

"No, we have those. All three of them. Except that Takashi's faction is building more. Of course, they probably won't be done before the Federation comes and sterilizes the planet, unless we can stop them."

She takes a breath. "Nagare and Amane are with us, and a few others. We control the moon base and Japan. Takashi and his faction control the rest of Earth. The Dalaraan have pulled out for now, and the Federation retreated to the far system to escort an incoming colonization fleet."

"This whole thing..." Lily waves her hand to indicate the Inn and its surroundings. "...it was just us fulfilling a promise to Growler."

Shizuru nods. "Then you must win your fight with the others to return to your world. I will not keep any of you any Longer, as there is much Roshi has for each of you. I will send the others when they decide to leave. Until this is done my friends, stay safe, trust in each other and trust in yourselves. You can win this fight, You MUST win this fight."

She turns to head back into the medical room with Saito and Roshi looks to them all. "Now, come with me, and I will give you the keys you need to unlock your power, but whether you have the strength to tame it, that will be all left up to you."
