Probably more than that, actually, but we'll say five that are the 'core' group, loyal to Big B herself.

According to my first post, we have a demolitions guy named Higgs, and Wynn, a squaddie of unspecified specialty. Probably heavy weapons and/or anti-tank.

Dillon would be the tech specialist...communications and electronic warfare. Evans is the Sarge...second in command an the guy in charge of the second fireteam if the squad splits up. Wilks drives the Hummer, and keeps it in shape.

Collins...hm. He may be new meat. Lemme read a bit more and see what it says between the lines.

Sonja got dead in the op, so we only have to worry about a stateside burial for her.

Goon is stated as having run for cover under gunfire, and then forgotten about. He could have broken and fled...in which case he missed the plane home, and his paycheck, and Bats will be giving him a bad review on eBay.

Preludes are about done so we'll be moving on to the more meaty aspects of the game, like actually getting some shit done. So, I've a few things to ask you guys and get your feedback:

1. Character Sheets. Can we get these posted up sometime soon? Everyone is on the same team so there really no reason for us to keep the sheets secret. If you'd like or just don't have the time, then simply make a post with your login and put a '.' in it. And I'll put your PC up for you. The '.' place holder under log in will allow you to edit it at your leisure.

2. Combat and all the High Octane Action. How do you guys want to handle this? Frankly the story is about you guys so I don't want to spend weeks or months on a single combat scene simply because the rolls are sucking. Use the tick system or just simply roll initiative old school and follow that order? I'm open for suggestions.

3. U.S.S. Make Shit Up. We're not exactly going to be following every Legend to the letter ladies and gentleman. If you would like to take liberties with certain facts or myths then by all means please do so. The more of an effort you make in helping me keeping the story interesting and fun then the more more fun all of us will have. Do you have ideas that pertain to your characters that you would like to see happen or have you given any thought to how you would like the world changed to suit your God's absence?

4. Signature Gear. We all know Thor is going to get his Mighty Mallet back eventually and Sun Wukong has his magic stick. But for the rest of you, what signature gear would you like? It doesn't have to confer 100% with legend, and honestly it can be anything you like. I'm planning on giving you guys a ranged and a melee and of course some form of protection. This doesn't mean you'll get it right away, but if I know what it is you're wanting it makes it easier for me to place it in the game or develop the appropriate quest to retrieve it.

Everything I'm working with so far is mostly what you've provided for me. I try to take the info supplied and make use of it, like Thor's numerous children create all manners of drama for the guy. The Morrigan's health issues create a whole different series of problem, not only for her but for the team. I'm looking forward to seeing how everything works out but the more you give me, the more I'll work with it. You're writing the stories, I'm just narrating them. smile

1) Sheets. Will do. Thought I had, in fact...but will do.

2) Combat and Octanes. I think there should be a difference between 'battles that are just there for narrative fun' and 'battles you might actually lose.' The first kind are there to make us feel good...and to give us roleplaying opportunities. The second are actual combats that should take place by the rules. We should probably have some ideas on hand about how to deal with runs of bad luck, death, etc... My guess would be that we basically just need to be ready to execute tactical retreats if it looks like things are going badly, and to grab unconscious or badly hurt companions and drag them along if they can't get away themselves. As for ticks and init...it's a tough call. Ticks are kind of nice because they keep combat organized, which is very very good thing. But they also add a level of complexity, which can slow things down. I think we should try at least one fairly big fight each way, and then decide based on which works best for us.

3) USS Makeshitup. I think, in general, it's better to add onto legends, or flesh out areas that the stories don't have much detail on, than it is to directly refute key parts of a mythical character's legend. This is easy though, because most mythical figures have LOTS of undefined time and deeds that can freely be made up. For example, Bast in her solar aspect is a war goddess; a protector of the Lower Nile Valley. Protector from what though? Well...I can pretty much make up whatever I want about that. I have yet to see it actually defined.

4) Signature Gear. A little tricky for some gods and goddesses, and not every culture was equally "gear intensive." Greeks liked to outfit their gods with cool shit, like magic thunderbolts and shields, and spears and bows that never miss and stuff. Egyptians...not as much. The only object that has a broad association with Bast is a sistrum, which is a musical instrument. Not exactly a badass artifact. But here I can bring in point 3 a bit...since Bast's goodies aren't defined in her legend, I can add my own spin. As a war goddess, we can assume she knew how to use weapons...though she may have fought in the form of a lioness. Perhaps then, gauntlets that give her human form claws? Or a sword with a wicked hook at the end of the blade that makes it look like a bared cat claw? Bast was also the wielder of one of the Eyes of Horus, in recognition of her status as defender of the lower valley. Rather than being literal, perhaps 'The Eye of Horus' in this case is some kind of amulet with magical properties? And of course, in a different game I posited that Bast...as she girded for war...took the magical metal of her sistrum and reforged it into a modern weapon, a pistol, thus creating a new artifact from an old. So there's three possible artifacts associated with Bast...a goddess not known for her reliance on 'stuff.' Not too shabby, I'd say. smile

1) No problem.

2) I agree with Max about the narrative and 'real' combat. Ticks can be tricky, but not too difficult. We can try either way in my thinking.

3) Again, I agree with Max. For Sunny, there's always the fact that Zhu Bajie, Xuanzang or the other members of his old Journey to the West can show up. Makes an interesting look at his past.

4) We know this isn't an issue for Wukong, so there.

1. Character Sheets. Done.

2. Combat and all the High Octane Action. Jim's system in WWW Scion was pretty good, but quite involved. It got the job done but could be work intensive.

3. U.S.S. Make Shit Up. Thank you for this. It allows us to have some story and not be so shoehorned. If I think of, I will let you know.

4. Signature Gear. With the Morrigan, I would be happy with a sword for the melee. Honestly, a gun or something modern for the ranged attack could be a way to draw her into modern warfare. And for armor, something related to blood (linking to the image of her washing bloody armor at a ford).

Those are the issues I've brainstormed, just right now.

Fate, can you hear me? It's Sun Wukong. I know you like taking your time, but if Broder and the other Fallen he promised don't show... it won't be pretty. You may be pulling strings on the fabric of the universe, space time and all that, but get something happening please!

*call ends*

Just to clarify, in Hades's last post, I'm not trying to railroad anybody! She's just very, um, decisive. Yeah, we'll go with that. wink If anyone else has better ideas, or other suggestions to move the game along, please let me know and I can either edit or respond accordingly in-character!

Before we begin with Atlanta I'd like to award you all with your XP for completing your Preludes and putting up with me and this languid pace.

Each of you get 25xp to improve your PCs. There are a few caveats.

1. Since you are still mortal, you can only spend them on non-supernatural things.

2. You have to spend this. You can't bank this til later and then spend in on supernatural things. Simply by stepping up and accepting your role in the wheel of destiny your Gods have begun to take the first steps towards unlocking their powers.
