Aberrant RPG - Ancient Aberrant

Well, by *now*, Hermes would answer "So I can save Darius' friends and repay the horrible scathing agony I have inflicted upon him, directly or indirectly, twice."

Or maybe "So I can rearrange history and give Artemis/Telemachus a happy ending."

Or, most likely of all, "SOMEBODY USE THE DAMN SWORD ON APOPHIS, NOW!" ;)

The ST would note that Hermes in session 69 noted he was still technically there as part of Darius' entourage. That he got some acknowledgement for his noting out being the emissary of an august body as opposed to everyone else basically just giving their names when Darius said "my people will announce themselves", is nothing more than that. He never actually contradicted being introduced as one of Darius' people.

Session 175 – "The group arrives on the Smith’s rocket, albeit with Adrian and Artemis stunned by the trip. After a brief exchange between Hermes and the creature, Quetzlcoatl attempts to cut him off from his own source, and the creature retaliates by sending the party into visions, in an attempt to inflict pain and suffering upon them. Hermes is shown the three time travelers saving the universe, with full knowledge of what would happen to them. Quetzlcoatl is taken to the fall of Tenochtitlan in the distant future. Artemis is shown the circumstances of her birth. Adrian, meanwhile, is rescued from a vision of his own by David Dragos, and the two negotiate over information. The visions clearing, all four are once again on the rocket, confronting the creature. . ."

I must say that nothing has made me laugh as hard as this did in a long time. From Session 89.

WashuWorshipper: OOC: Is this even a situation worth rolling dice?

CBR Watcher: (Doesn't really matter that much from Quetz's end since before this attempt he already was willing to open his mind for evaluation.)

AngryAngryMark: (I'm going to, unless you do want rolls, skip ahead and say that you find his request possibly the most reasonable thing you've ever heard)

AngryAngryMark: (also, my god that's a handsome man, I mean, you don't swing that way, but if you did, boy howdy)

AngryAngryMark: *seeker for her part kinda stares and drools a bit*

AngryAngryMark: *not that you can register him right now, but Rory has taken off his sunglasses just so that Justinian can see him rolling his eyes* You suck boss.

AngryAngryMark: (do you have especially high mega wits Quetz?)

CBR Watcher: (No Mega-Wits whatsoever. Why do you think he was successfully betrayed? :-))

CBR Watcher: "As I said before, I imposed on your hospitality. The least I can do is open my mind and let you confirm my intentions."

AngryAngryMark: (this is perhaps the finest human being you have ever, ever met)

AngryAngryMark: *Rory, again not that you're even thinking about him, groans* Seriously, you /suck/ boss

AngryAngryMark: *when the haze passes, they've departed*

CBR Watcher: (We still left in our Rings?)

AngryAngryMark: (yes, and sad that he's not here anymore)

AngryAngryMark: *Seeker is still excessively starstruck*

AngryAngryMark: *some time passes...*

CBR Watcher: (What after effects does Quetz feel, if any?)

AngryAngryMark: (nothing other than the happiness of having met the bestest guy ever)

AngryAngryMark: *and he returns. Yay!*

Man, 89...

There's a lot after that you have to get through. I almost envy you, even as I'm looking forward to playing in Session 176.

Well I had started out pretty quickly and was buzzing through them, but then work got busy and I pretty much stopped reading and just kept DLing them. Now with a new baby and taking the first half of the night shift, I have lots of 'quiet house' time to do things. My DVR is almost empty and I am reading around 4 of the sessions a night. Will be nice to be caught up, though I wish I was playing instead of just reading, this game is great!

Well, it's been quite a ride, that's for sure. And given all the players look in here, if you have any questions for us, rather then the GM, go ahead. And I understand what you mean about the night shift, it does make for a quiet time to reread.

AngryAngryMark: *before much else can be said, the herald at the gates proclaims* The Lady Brigantia, goddess of light and healing, mistress of the tribes of the Keltoi, and her escort.. *the herald pauses*

AngryAngryMark: *he looks to the attendant that has been quietly telling him what to say, as if in protest*

AngryAngryMark: *the attendant shrugs helplessly*

AngryAngryMark: And her.. escort..

AngryAngryMark: *he takes a steadying breath, closing his eyes as if to not have to look at the crowd, though his voice yet booms*

AngryAngryMark: A man with no class, except at kicking ass. Who will find this party boring, if there is no boozing and whoring. Who if things get too tense, will throw his clothes over the fence. The high king of.. *his voice briefly falters,

AngryAngryMark: then resumes* of savage beatdowns, Alaric the mighty!

I know I am using this thread for peanut gallery comments, but I can't resist!

So is this part where Telemachus goes Super-Saiyan or what? heh ::laugh

AngryAngryMark: *"y-you stupid.. don't know what you've.." he just opens a portal behind himself and falls back into it, the others paying him little attention as the winds around Telemachus begin to unwrap*

AngryAngryMark: *he seems for a moment as before.. and yet he is not. It is as though the storm that rages around him, /is/ him. His hair now shock white, and whipped in the wind. His eyes a glowing blue on blue. He descends to the earth, but he

AngryAngryMark: does not quite touch it. His gaze turns to those about him, and it is as though he looks within, yet beyond. "I understand now.. I am Telemachus. Yet I am not. I exist. Yet not."

AngryAngryMark: *oh, as it was asked, one of the Winter King ushers did also clean up the spilled liquor*

AngryAngryMark: *depending on who you are in the audience, the image of the Winter King working at some alcohol with a water spritzer, cleaning products and a rag may or may not have been amusing*

CBR Watcher: (The Death of Germs! :-P)

I'd like to think other things besides the comedy stand out ;p

Oh, there are! I am quite envious of your players that they have a ST such as yourself, you are quite talented. Your ability to have conversations with yourself as two (or more) NPCs and stay within the characters' feel and not bleed their personalities into each other is quite good.

I only post the funnies because anything else out of context wouldn't make sense or would be a huge cut or even whole sessions. And as I've said previously, until I catch all the way up, I don't want to say too much so as to not appear stupid when I read whatever I was asking/commenting about in the next session.

Though, comedy aside, Aberrant! The Musical, was very well done, kudos!

p.s. I am up to session 122. ::biggrin

BcAugust7754: Artemis blinks. "Um...I can grow spices?"

WashuWorshipper: *looks at Artemis* "How quickly?"

WashuWorshipper: *blinks*

WashuWorshipper: ". . .if you could grow spices quickly, could you also make wheat or rice grow quickly?"

AngryAngryMark: (hahahaha.. "we present you with these exotic spices.. grown from our friend's body..")

Oh and I just thought of this today, the Winter King's presence in the Aberrant! The Musical vision /totally/ reminds me of John Malkovich when he goes inside his own head in "Being John Malkovich". heh

Session 176 – "The group, recovered from their visions, face down the creature, who gives a brief display of power, then flees. Shortly thereafter, Rory returns, and an argument/discussion about his plans, and their effect on Raijin’s fate, ensues. Ultimately, Adrian cuts to the chase, and makes an attempt to bust into the metal coffin, and smash the sword. A battle breaks out, attempts to talk down or restrain Rory fail, attempts by Rory to shoot us all do little. Rory pulls out a giant cannon, and blasts Artemis, blinding and deafening us all, just as Adrian attempts to destroy the sword. Everyone blacks out, and wake to find themselves in a wide array of new locations. . ."

You say that of a group of people wherein at least two scenes of violence occured while we were trying to gather them up. ::tongue

Well yes, but if I recall correctly, they did not do it to themselves particularly, but was instigated by outside forces. Guan was prodded by the 'nomad', which it seems, eventually led to him joining them. And the friendly skirmish in the teahouse was just that, a friendly skirmish between old friends...I mean...who isn't prone to a little violence when you meet friends after a long time apart... ::tongue

AngryAngryMark: I think you, and various other people I know, get a little too wrapped up in philosophies about what you are and other such nonsense.

AngryAngryMark: Let me ask you something, you love your friend?

BcAugust7754: "Yes."

AngryAngryMark: Your friend love you?

BcAugust7754: "I'm pretty sure. And I don't get too wrapped up in philosphy."

AngryAngryMark: Then.. in the face of that, who cares about the rest? You love, and are loved. Unless this effort was powered by tossing babies into a furnace, that's pretty much it.

...and so the idea for Baal's DeLorean is born! ::devil ::laugh or would that be the Corrupters? heh

And...having finally caught all the way up, all I can say is hahahahahaha!!! You guys really screwed the pooch on this one!

btw, loved the Navarone reference ::tongue

Nah, we succeeded. Sword is destroyed, Raijin has been located. . . we just have some mess to clean up first. ;)

( and maybe returning Raijin to Japan will put some pressure on the Yagyu, and lighten up the pressure on Serekh and Ao Ping. . . )

Ah, but in previous, 'time traveling across the multiverse,' you guys were more or less a group. This occasion has the unique application of having you each seperate and apparently in different 'times' if not dimensions...? ::ohmy

And though you may return Raijin to the Ainu, with the horrid mess it is, could he have an immediate impact that would show? Not to say that he wouldn't have an impact, just that it may take him quite a while to garner any strength, what with the Sacred Forest being razed and his army probably being scattered if not slaughtered.

Should none of these reasons even factor in, there is still the rest of the factions to contend with, the Yagyu don't seem to mind what is going on now amongst the rival Ainu, (and assuming their function, probably enjoying it) what would one more person trying to carve his wedge out matter to them? Wouldn't Raijin be too busy fending himself off to be busied with running down the ninjas...ninjii...ninja? heh ::ninja

I submit that merely confirming the destruction of the sword is itself a great gain, given that its a /potentially universe destroying superweapon/ that was being actively pursued by /most of the greatest villains of the setting/.

Including quite likely Apophis.

Yes, but in the 'real' timeline, wasn't the sword destroyed as it travelled into the sun? Rory was snagged at the nick of time by Justinian and Raijin supposedly does the 'I am a leaf on the wind, watch how I soar.'

Now you /think/ you have destroyed the sword, Justinian didn't rehab Rory, (at least yet) and potentially very severly altered Japan's timeline, depending on Mark's point of view on time that is...heh.

There are quite a lot of potentials that will be interesting to see played out. ::cool

p.s. You guys are very paranoid about Apophis, even though he was utterly destroyed. ::laugh

Destroying it by throwing it into the sun was the plan, yes. But, only one person can say whether or not the plan would have worked without some villain snatching it out at the last millisecond, and so far, he hasn't.

OTOH, the damn thing was actually /in Adrian's hands/ when it was destroyed, so, I can be just a tad more certain now.

Session 177 – "Adrian and Raijin orient themselves in their new universe, after convincing Zhang Fei they are from an alternate world, with the aid of much alcohol. Zhang Fei explains how this universe came to be ruled by Baal, and Adrian and Raijin offer to serve with him until they can manage to get home. This is interrupted by an attack by Hrothwulf and his ship. Meanwhile, Artemis climbs the preternaturally huge mountain, with some difficulties, and finds a gate at the top with a strange man challenging it. After a brief encounter, he goes down, and she keeps going up. Shortly after Artemis reaches the top, the entire mountain begins to shake with the shouts of the man she met. . ."

Also, we've got damn good reason to be paranoid about Apophis. We know he had the ability to traverse time, but we don't know his/its origin. If he's ultimately Chosen in nature, its entirely possible he travelled back from some future time. And if he's not Chosen, then whatever font of cosmic annihilation spawned him might conceivably spawn another. . .

Session 178 – "Quetzlcoatl has a brief conversation with Amon and Imhotep, in which he tries to avoid telling them about the future. This does not work with Amon, who eventually takes him to see the Oracle of Time. Meanwhile, Hermes is interrogated by Justinian about the Seven Thunders, and then dropped to Earth near Addis Ababa. An attempt to find shelter and information in the city fails spectacularly, and he flees from a T2M officer. Looking for shelter several hundred miles away, he enters a rather large forest, and his shortly confronted by a somewhat angry forest god named Antaeus. . ."

Session 179 – "Artemis enters the gates through a crack newly formed, and meets the figure creating the storms. He is most displeased, and throws her back down the mountain, again. Meanwhile, Adrian leads a group of mortal pirates in blocking the boarding party of Baal’s troops. . ."

Session 180 – "Hermes flees from the angry nature god, finds a large lake, and sleeps on the bottom. After recovering, he makes his way to Scotland, dodges a T2M squad that gated to his position, and reached the Silver Templar’s old base. Hermes enters, sends a message to Michael Ballard, and watches N! until Ballard arrives. After Ballard arrives, Hermes tells about his predicament and asks for help, which ultimately leads to the revelation of what happened to Michael Donighal. . ."
