Distinguishing Marks: Josh is a paraplegic, and thus is always seen in a wheelchair or power chair.

Distinguishing Characteristics: Since Josh's accident happened before his hormones started rushing, and left him paralyzed and unresponsive (and without feeling) below the waist, his sex drive got stuck in park.

Josh’s birth mother is a RN at a local doctor’s office, and his birth father is a mid-level manager at an information agency. He had an older brother (18) who is (currently) a freshman at NYSU, and a younger sister (14) who is a freshman in high school.

Josh got along well enough with his siblings. They had their share of spats, but there was plenty of love; they would always stand up for each other when anything happened… including with their parents.

Of course, all that changed September 23rd, 2005. He was on his way home after a science club meeting, walking to the bus stop, when he was in a car accident as he crossed the street. The mayor of New York City was driving his sports car, ran a red light, and hit him. Josh's powers manifested, specifically his control over momentum, but did so in a relatively destructive way; they transferred the momentum of the car into Josh, sending him flying off into the distance. Based on the speed of the car, Josh was going well over 500mph after the impact, flying a total of 1.5 miles from the point of impact. His control over kinetic energy shielded him enough that he didn't die, but he sustained enough blunt force trauma to his head, neck and back that he was left a paraplegic.

Josh’s parents, initially grateful that Josh was alive, figured out that Josh was a mutant after several days of piecing together the information about the accident. That’s when they stopped visiting him. They also pursued legal recourse against Josh; they didn’t want a mutant as a son, and did everything legally possible to get rid of him. Even the hospital was about to put him out onto the streets, before he had had a chance to heal, but that’s when The Lawrence Hunt Academy stepped in, took him in, and finished his rehabilitation.

Now, Josh is a junior, permanently in a wheel chair (except when he gathers up the nerve to use his control of kinetic forces on himself and flies), and the school has legal custody of him.

During his time with the academy, Josh has shown an aptitude for science, particularly physics. For this reason, plus the fact that his biological parents abandoned him, as well as personal reasons, the physics teacher, Prof. Myrna Jensen has taken young Josh under her wing. Being a mutant that is interested in science as well, the two really hit it off. In fact, Josh spends almost as much of his free time in the science lab as he does anywhere else, so though he’s been at LHA for nearly 3 years, most people have only heard or know of him.

I’ve left out how his siblings felt about his turning mutant. I’ll leave that up to the ST’s, in case they want to use it, one way or the other.
