Aberrant: Mutant High - Cold as Ice [Complete]

Winter, for Diana it was a time she was a bit more isolated then she was during the hot summer season. Sense she was constantly cold and the air around her got colder, and her skin was so cold that it almost felt like it was burning, folks might seek her company out during the host summer, but quickly moved to avoiding her during the winter.

Actually, that suited her just fine, with one or two exceptions, she hadn't really been all that friendly to folks at the school. Daniel had gotten to her, but few others, though just thinking about Hotstreak almost made her smile.

At the moment, she was standing out on a balcony, as the snow fell, in nothing more then a nightgown, and she really didn't feel the cold, as her hands gripped the rail, thinking.

With a slow deliberation, she considered the yard in front of her, covered in ice and snow, and things began to change. She had decided to try something new with her powers over cold, and she turned her will to a form of ice scupture.

Shapes rose out of the snow, a dozen different geometric shapes in various sizes, creating a bit of a cold analytical spot out in front of the balcony. Then she paused a moment, looking them over, and turned her attention to a spot where a lot of students went in and out, and several snowmen, even a pair of snow forts complete with snowball ammunition rose out of the snow.

Something for the younger kids to play with, she thought to herself, almost sadly, considering her family, all of whom were dead. She was feeling a bit melancoly at the moment, a mode she knew Daniel might break her out of, but few others she could think of might.

Her thoughts drifted back a year or so ago, back to the cruise ship, the fun her family was having, then to the ski trip near the end of the cruise. The ski trip that had ended in disaster, and cut her off from the rest of the human race like a knife slicing though butter.

She could still remember the avalanch, the snow covering them all, and how she somehow reacted to protect herself, even as her parents and little sister, were instantly killed under the wieght of the snow and ice, and it somehow slide around her. And the blame, bad enough that she had been suddenly orphaned, but after she came out of the avalanch looking the way she did, they wanted to blame her, and her mutant gene for the accident.

So she had simply left, walked off into the artic, until one of the school teachers here found her and convinced her to come here.

She glanced out to the snow to shake off the depressing thoughts, and noticed a few folks were outside playing now. In fact, some of the kids had taken up playing in the forts she'd set up, throwing snow balls at one another, and she chuckled softly, then turned to go back inside.

Going back to her room, she got dressed, and when anyone else would dress for the cold, she didn't really bother. After all, she was immune to the effects of cold, for the most part.

Still, she had some sense of style, and so she began to go though her cloths to find something she found acceptable for the day.

Cold, Ice, that was her world now, even when she wished otherwise, it was impossible to take a warm shower, even when she wanted one. She had tried a time or two, even scalding hot, it was at least cool by the time the water touched her, fortunately she was mostly immune to cold, but a girl liked a hot shower now and again.

She had liked to feel warm, but she didn't feel warmth much anymore, her life was mostly about cold. Except around Daniel, a thought that brought a bit of a smile to her lips, for a moment.

Picking out a pair of jeans, a white blouse, and a pair of tennis shoes, she headed out, tired of the introspection for the time being. For anyone else, in the middle of winter, it would have been under dressed, but for her, it was enough.

<<Finished>>
