Appearance: Damien is a magnificently handsome man with sandy brown hair and crystal green eyes, kind of like a cat’s. He keeps himself immaculately dressed when on duty – which is most of the time, but doesn’t expect the same from others. He can most often be found reading something, though the subjects vary. Off-duty … well no one has seen him off-duty so far.

Background: There have been a Caine fighting for the United States since before there was a United States. Caine’s fought in the French and Indian Wars in the Virginia militia, in the Revolution, the War of 1812, and the Mexican War. In the Civil War (were they fought for their native Virginia), but made up for it the Spanish American War. In the First World War, the first Caine to graduate West Point fought and his son fought in the Second World War. The Caine’s have been graduating from West Point ever since and Damien Caine is no exception.

Caine grew up idolizing his father, a Colonel in the 82nd Airborne. Damien and his mother were never close and when she divorced his father when Damien was in High School, Damien stayed with his father. They haven’t spoken sense. At West Point, Damien excelled at sports as well as his studies, graduating 14th in his class. With his Dad’s connections, he applied for Special Forces School as soon as he was able, again doing well.

Special Forces was a lot of training people to fight in other countries, especially in the Middle East and it was something he was good at, but not something he loved. All that changed when Afghanistan happened. Declan was in on Day One. He was the resident Arabic specialist and went on many missions to capture key Al Qaeda suspects. It was during this time he came into contact with various Intelligence sorts. His skill, élan, and loyalty were noted.

Then came the opportunity to join SGC. At first Damien was hesitant. He had made Captain and was due to rotate back to combat with the members of his team, but his nation called and he went. Once inside, Damien grasped the depth of the conflict surprisingly well. Not only his nation, but his plant’s survival was at stake.

Captain Caine excelled at the small unit tactics the SG teams necessitated. He was also well skilled in operating with the non-military specialist thanks to his history working with people outside the normal military hierarchy. Though he was only chosen for the second officer slot, he was recorded for his resourcefulness and his bravery. Then came RL – 1137.

What happened on RL-1137 is classified, what is known is that Caine was the only survivor of two SG teams that went to the world. When he came back, he spent several weeks in medical, being prodded by various scientific and medical personnel. In a whirlwind of sudden activity, Damien was put back on active duty and assigned his first SG team, along with the promotion that came with it. Now as a Major, this young man has his first real chance at independent command.
