King Felix, described in general terms:

(All of this is player knowledge, and not character knowledge. Do you know the difference? Good. If you don't, drop me a PM and I'll explain it to you gently. Thank you.)

King Felix is fucking nuts.

King Felix is a paranoid schizophrenic and suffers from multiple personality disorder. However, instead of taking turns, the other personalities manifest as other people in his life. King Felix is the real nova, and his imaginary friends The Gnostic and Backjack sometimes accompany him.

King Felix is fairly ordinary, but (was) quite vulnerable to mental breakdowns before his eruption. He erupted in a moment of particularly great mental stress and misinterpreted the experience as a theophany-- an in-breaking of the spirit of God into the material realm which carried a divine revelation. He doesn't know why this happened to him, but he feels (incorrectly) that he now has a divine mandate to do something, but he is not sure just what it is he is supposed to do. Despite all of this, King Felix does not immediately appear to be "crazy" or "looney" to the casual observer. He functions reasonably well in society.

The Gnostic is a fragment of King Felix' personality, and manifests only to King Felix as a sort of mentor. He is a true believer in something greater than himself, and he is utterly driven to accomplish his shadowy goal. He's the one who propels King Felix onward, constantly appearing to give him a new nugget of insight to shove him even further beyond sanity. He very much has an agenda, and it will be revealed in time.

The other fragment of his personality is Backjack. (Note the spelling.) Backjack is basically Rorscach from "Watchmen," minus the bad smell and latex mask. He's authoritarian, taciturn, and embodies the violent and forceful side of King Felix. He watches over King Felix, protects him from harm, and does very rude things to people.

Everything that these three do is actually done by King Felix. He only thinks that there's these two other guys doing some of it, helping him along, and talking to him. I write all of his stories in the first person so that the reader can see what the world looks like from his delusional point of view.

How to interact with King Felix:

Everything that is done or said by King Felix, The Gnostic, or Backjack is being said or done by King Felix. The other personalities are not visible, tangible, or "real" in the commonly accepted use of the word.

In the story King Felix I, he is actually sitting alone in his kitchen. He is the one drinking the Budweiser. Outside Caroline's apartment, he is the one who beat up the homeboy.

So, if in a fic, King Felix said something to your character, and then The Gnostic said something else to your character, and then Backjack punched your character in the head, from your character's point of view, it would appear as if King Felix has said something, then said something else (in exactly the same voice), and then punched your character in the head. King Felix does not use different (or funny) voices to represent the different personas, and his manner of speech and movement remains fairly uniform. There is no particularly noticable outward sign that he suffers from this form of MPD at this time.

I realize that this may be difficult to deal with as a writer. If you're up to it, I think it'll be fun to do. Are you up to it? smile
