Joe was pretty sure that Jake, Bill and him shouldn’t be here. But Bill’s brother-in-law had told them that Caramel Bath would be coming through this parking garage on her way to her hotel. Bill was boosting about she’d see him and want him, and Jake was talking about getting her autograph, but Joe wasn’t sure he was going to approach her. After all, she deserved some privacy, didn’t she? He just wanted to see if she was as pretty as she was on the opnet.

Clicking heels silenced all the men as they turned to watch her approach. There were men with her, guarding her, but Joe was blind to that. All he saw was her.

She had a full, lush body, and a beautiful sway. Her golden eyes flickered up at him, and shyly ducked away as they approached. She’s… innocent, Joe realized suddenly. Inside there is a woman who somehow has retained a purity of heart and mind. That is amazing – she must be an incredible woman.

Jake couldn’t breathe. She was so beautiful. Her mocha skin glowed even in the florescent lights, and the yellow dress she was wearing showed every curve and line. But that’s wasn’t what really caught his eye – it was the daring flash in her eyes when she glanced at him. Come and get me, was her silent message to him; even the slight curl to her lips was a silent come-on.

He took a half-step toward her, but Joe grabbed his arm. “No, you’ll ruin her,” Joe whispered, but Jake wasn’t listening. She glanced at him again, and Jake saw the coy invitation. He took another step, but Joe was pulling him back. Jake let him, but only because he didn’t have the courage to take her up on her offer.

Bill felt three-inches tall. Those golden eyes sized him up and dismissed him in one glance, leaving him shaken. She had seen into the heart of him, right into his secrets, and she had found him unworthy. In that moment, he would have done anything to be worthy; overcome any challenge, done any act, no matter how degrading. The very thought of her bending him to her will sent a fissure of pleasure up his spine.

Instinctively, he dropped his head and stepped back, taking the submissive stance. Look at me, he silently pleaded with her, his body aching for her attentions. I’d be good for you… so good. Please…

Caramel kept moving, and the three men were left behind. There was a moment of silence after her heels-clicks had fallen into silence, and then they all exhaled at the same time. “She was hot!” Jake said first, an excited grin crossing his face, “and I think she wanted me.”

With effort, Bill pulled himself together, reconstructing his ego. “Nah, she wanted me. She looked right at me!” he insisted.

“Both of you are douche bags!” Joe shouted, spinning to walk away from his friends. Confused at the unusual outburst, the other two trailed after him, bickering about Caramel among themselves.

“You guaranteed me that the path in would be clear, Steve,” Kara snapped into her phone, her melodic voice harsh. Though he couldn’t see it, her other hand was on her hip, a sure sign of her anger. “Where I come from, a man’s word is what he’s worth. Right now, you ain’t worth shit.”

Steve attempted to placate her, but Kara cut him off. “I was in Hardballs, Steve,” Kara hissed. “I had Andre Corbin compliment me on my blow-job. I’m up for a fuckin’ Adult Video News Award tonight for Best Supporting Actress in Video. I’m not some two-bit porn girl fresh off her first suck-n-blow. I’m the Caramel Bath and you need to respect that.”

She shut the phone with a snap, still seething. Almost immediately it rang again; she checked the caller id and tossed the phone behind her. She heard Dexter fumble with it and drop it, but she didn’t care. “Dex, sweetie, that’s Steve. You need to talk to him, because if I do it, I’ll say something that will get me sued.”

Part of it was nerves, she acknowledged to herself as she heard her assistant start to talk to Steve. She’d been up for a AVNA last year, and had gotten passed over. And she’d be assured of victory this year, save one little detail; her first movie as a nova was days too late to be considered for this year. It meant that she’d win next year, certainly, but she wanted to win this year, before everyone said it was just the node winning. She wanted to win, for herself.

But there was nothing to do, save to worry and wait for tonight.

A sigh of relief crossed Kara's lips as she slid into her hotel room, alone. Dexter and Rashard were in their room, and Gardenia was in hers. Kara was alone, thankfully so.

A sound in the room snapped her eyes open, and she almost slipped her skin. But the second she saw the person lounging on her bed, she relaxed. Her lips curled into a seductive smile, and she pushed off the door with a sway of her body. "Hey, look at what the cat dragged in," she murmured, crawling onto the bed.

"Hey, baby," J-Loc murmured before kissing her. His big, dark hand slipped up her arm and shoulder to cradle the back of her head. In response, Kara deepened the kiss, loving the feel and taste of her man.

"I thought you were in Mexico City today," Kara murmured as they broke their heated embrace. "Did you say you had a concert?"

"I just wanted ta surprise ya," J said, rolling onto his back and pulling her to rest on top of him.

"I am surprised," she grinned, recieving an answering smile in return. Her smile faded as she began to notice the details that had changed on her boyfriend. "Baby... what happened to yer grill? Where's the blue glacier?"

The blue diamond was J-Loc's pride and joy; the massive pale blue rock had long been the centerpiece of his most expensive and impressive mouthpiece. Now there was a simple white diamond in its place. He should have been freaking out about its loss, but he said softly, "I took it out, Kara."

"Why?" she whispered, truly confused. She had seen him check a mirror ten times in ten minutes once to make sure the blue ice was still in place; for him to remove it was setting her world on its head.

"I had somethin' more important for it," he said, pulling a black box from behind the pillow. "I'm not on my knees, but I hope you'll still consent to become my wife."

He was even talking all over-smart, like she liked; normally, she'd be smiling at the silly tone he always used during his little jokes. But today was nothing to laugh about.

"J..." her voice trailed away as she tried to talk. Tears filled her eyes as she pulled away from him. So good... what we had was so good... Why'd he have to ruin it? "I can't. You should go."

Gardenia found her sitting alone on the window seat, staring out the window. "Kara, we need to getcha... honey? What's wrong?"

Kara turned to her cousin, letting the other woman see the tears tracking down her face. "J-Loc... we broke up," the beautiful nova sobbed.

"Oh, sweetie, no! Why? You two were so good together!" Gardenia said, grabbing some tissues from her tote and rushing to Kara's side.

Kara just shook her head; she didn't want to tell Gardenia why. Her cousin was a great hair-dresser, but if Kara told her, the whole extended B'nath family would know before the end of the party tonight. "I need to focus on getting ready, 'Denia," she said, hearing a note of panic in her voice. "Just help me get ready."

Kara was a little late for the party, despite Gardenia's skilled ministrations. There just hadn't been enough time. Still, she would be forgiven; 'Denia had outdone herself this time, making an elaborate series of braids that ran back the length of her head to a ponytail at the base of her skull.

Her dress was a silver sheath; a little understated perhaps, but it showed off her lush hips and thighs to perfection. She knew her ass was one of her better features; thick and firm, with plenty of it, and she showed it off relentlessly.

But Kara shook all those considerations off; it was time to focus on the judges, to compliment them and try to win them to her side. Not all of them would be here; some did try to avoid the appearance of impropriety. No, it was the ones that didn't care about the appearance - or the reality of impropriety - that she was interested in. And with any luck, she'd find a judge she could put in her pocket.

Kara was used to trading sex for things she needed, or more rarely, on things she wanted. Technically, she wasn't a prostitute, just an entertainer. But sometimes, she wondered what the difference was.

She wiped the mirror clean with her towel, removing the condensation so that she could stare at herself. She had showered, just like she does after shoots. But this was the first time she'd had sex with a stranger without a camera there. It was strange to think of it like that, but it made her feel worse about the situation, dirtier.

"But I can live with that," she told the mirror. Straightening up, she said, "I can live with that." Tightening her robe around her, she firmly said, "I can live with that."

Kara opened her door and stepped back out into her room. She sighed and sank into her bed, feeling the last touches of soreness in her body. Almost immediately, she could smell him; J-Loc's cologne rose around her like a sweet miasma. The tears rose in her eyes, and she shoved herself off the bed. "Damn it," she whispered as loneliess slammed her like a physical thing.

She sat up, rubbing at her golden eyes. They had always been her best feature, and worth every penny she had paid for the implants. The judge - what had his name been? Charles? Rubin? - had certainly been impressed by them.

Kara didn't want to be alone. She hadn't liked it since the night she had come home to find Levi gone. God, that had hurt so much. She'd left home for him, and then he'd left her. That was two lost homes he owed her.

But she would have been happy to see him anyway. She would be happy for anyone, so long as they could keep her company.

Kara sat up a little straighter. There *was* someone who she could have keep her company. She snatched up her phone and pressed '1' on her speed dial. After four rings, the phone picked up. "Hello?" Dexter mumbled.

"Dex, I'm sorry, did I wake you?" Kara cooed, her voice falling into her honeyed tones used for getting her way.

"Yeah, that's ok, I'm supposed to be your assistant, right?" Dexter said, sounding a little more awake. "What can I get you?"

"Can you come here? I'd like to tell you in person."

"Sure," she heard him say over the sound of his sheets rustling. "Be right there."

Kara smiled as she closed her phone, smiling. Dexter wasn't her first choice for bedmates, but he would serve nicely to keep the loneliness at bay. Soon, there was a tap at her door, and Kara checked the peephole, making sure her robe was shut tight. It was Dexter, and she smiled.

"Come in," she said, holding the door open for him. When he entered, she closed the dore behind him and locked it securely. If he noticed, he didn't say anything. She turned and studied him. He was wearing a pair of dress pants and a t-shirt; he'd obviously thrown both on to come over here. It made her wonder what he had on underneath.

He was almost cute, but not anything eye-catching. He was nice-looking enough, but clearly he put too much emphasis on the brains. "Kara?" he asked, snapping her out of her musings.

"Yeah, sorry," Kara said, snapping out of it. "This is a bit weird, Dex, but you're my assistant, and when I gave you the job, I said there'd be some strange tasks I needed. And this is one of them."

She had his interest; he straightened his glasses and looked at her with more interest. "I want you to sleep with me tonight," she said, loving the shock that crossed his face. "Not sex... just... keep me company. I don't want to be alone."

It took some persuasion. He wasn't entirely comfortable with the idea, but Kara was firm. And it felt so good to curl against someone, to press against their warm form. And even better - she could feel his body's response to her proximity. He wanted her, and that was a comfort to her. With a peaceful sigh, she slipped into slumber.
