Grand Opening

Bandwidth's lab had now been finished according to all of his design specifications. Tonight was the first night he had in his fully functioning computer, electronic, and surveillance lab.

From the doorway you couldn't see very much of the room, but you could tell it was large, supported by thick columns every 10 meters. The walls and the ceiling was a dark metallic material made to absorb heat and recover it back into a useable energy source.

Bandwidth stands at the edge of the door, laying his hand on the key card scanner. He has easier methods of entering then the usage of a key card. The door slides open. He steps inside, the only light source being provided at the moment is from the set of circuit breakers on the wall, each of them still needing to be closed.

Bandwidth walks to the panel and starts closing them, each of them activating a crucial system in the lab. First the lights, the room starts as a dull brightness, but the tops of each column luminesces and the room grows brighter. Next is the cooling system running beneath the floors, there to keep the room at a bearable temperature even with all the computer systems stored beneath his floor space. The final breaker he closes powers up powerful server farm he is the sole proprietor of. As far as he knows, he is now the Systems Administrator of one of the most powerful super computers and server farms in existence in this day in age. Everything was built to his personal design specs, and this is something he has been waiting his entire life to do.

With the final breaker, his main workspace powers up as well. It's as if it was something seen out of a sci-fi movie back in the 90's. A padded chair sits in the corner. Above the chair is a set of large holographic display panels arranged in a hemispherical pattern. A holographic patterned keyboard seems to hover in front of the chair.

In the far corner of the lab, is a cot, and a small refrigerator, just like his old workspace with his ISP. The rest of the room is filled with surveillance screens, electronics equipment, spare parts, and workspace tables.

To some the room may look plain and empty, but to Bandwidth this is his new home. For tonight, he had opened it up to anybody that wished to visit it. He even decided he could tolerate Greg for tonight. He was elated enough that his portion of the headquarters was finally finished.

Programming Sessions

J.C. sat down in front of the wall display in his room and laid his hands on the arms of his chair. A holographic visor formed in front of his eyes. Code began screaming past his eyes, faster then most could comprehend, but that did not matter to him. He didn't need to read the code, he understood it and it did what he told it to do.

In a matter of a few hours Gigabytes of code had been completed, debugged, and tested for integrity. J.C. was working on his latest masterpiece. Now it was a simple list of uncompiled code, but soon it would be a subroutine in a much more complex program.

Bandwidth was simply using his downtime the way he knew best. The Windy City Knights were taking much longer to get off the ground than anybody had anticipated. He was using his lonesome nights in his lab to create a helper program for himself.

Bandwidth's job on the team is information control, computer intelligence, and routing, among a few other things. With the assistance of his new program, he could be much more efficient. It would only take a few more months of intensive coding.

At the end of his night, J.C. snuck up to kitchen grabbed a few bites out of the kitchen, and returned to his bed, wondering what the next day would bring.
