History

Marina was born in San Diego to Roy and Michelle Johns. Both of her parents decided early on to hide their Nova nature and dorm down. Early in Marina's life they realized their daughter would find it much more difficult to hide her powers, so from a early age their went to great lengths to have her hide her powers. Sadly, this came to naught when Marina was six and starting school. After school one day, she started playing with her powers, thinking noone was looking. Someone tipped off the Utopians of what they saw. A few weeks later, her family was attacked at their home. Her folks put up a valiant fight, even as their home was burning around them, the screamed for her to run. The only clear thing that Marina remembers of the Motherhunters who destroyed her home was their leader, a man with a lighting bolt shaped tattoo on his right arm. As she tried to escape suddenly a man appeared before her. He took her hand and they suddenly were safe. While she never got over the apparent loss of her parents, Marina sees Traveler as a surrogate father and the rest of the crew as a (dysfunctional) family of sorts.
