Aberrant: 200X - 200X Experience Ledger and Explanation

<span style="font-style: italic">The purpose of this thread is to provide an explanation of how the experience point system here in 200X works, as well as to provide a quick reference chart for how much XP has been awarded thus far (see chart, below). I'll try to keep the chart current from month to month.</span>

<span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="text-decoration: underline">Experience Awards in 200X Explained:</span></span> Back in March of '09 we voted on whether to continue awarding a few nova points every six months - as we had originally done - or to switch to a monthly award of experience points, with the amount awarded based on posting activity on the part of the character. The thread where this was voted on can be found <a href="http://www.rpg-post.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/137773/NP_vs_XP_Place_Your_Vote_Open_.html#Post137773" target="_blank">here</a>. As should be obvious by now, the votes in favor of switching to a monthly xp-system won.

Under this new system, all 200X characters are entitled to a <span style="font-style: italic">minimum</span> of 3 experience points per month, effective as of February, 2009. You (the players of the characters here in 200X) are all entitled to these 3xp, whether or not you posted during a given month. Characters who posted during a particular month may claim another 4 experience points, in addition to the 3 automatic experience points, for a <span style="font-style: italic">maximum</span> of 7xp for that month. In the event of board-sanctioned, Moderator-run fictions, certain characters may, at the discretion of the Moderator(s), be awarded additional experience points as rewards for exceptional roleplaying. In this instance a character would earn more than 7xp in a given month.

Should other situations arise where bonus experience points can be earned/won by characters here in 200X, we (the Moderators) will be sure to let you know.

When a new character joins the forum they are entitled to an amount of Starting Experience Points. What this amount actually is will slowly increase as time moves forward. The amount of Starting Experience Points is equal to the amount of experience earned by a character who had been a member of this forum since February of 2009, but who had not posted at all since that time (so they've only been earning the minimum 3xp during that time).
