What is commonly known about Cole is that he appeared at a nova brawl in Los Angles a few months ago were he appearance broke up the fight, if only temporarily. Cole was badly beaten and ended up at a local hospital. He gave his name a Hero and the name has stuck. (What isn’t generally known is that he said his name was Aero, but his jaw was so messed up that it came out as Hero.)Since then Hero has been a “street” hero, fighting for the homeless and working poor. His major newsworthy contribution has been to put out some fires. He is not rich and he turns down most endorsement deals. He prefers to keep his personal appearances for the causes that matter to him.Still, he had gained some rewards for minor acts of heroism and other people donate to him as if he was a charity himself – seeing as he has no visible means of support and that the city lacks a Municipal Defender at the moment. Beyond that, he has made allies out of three of the novas who he initially battled and they now give him some valuable support, advice, and training. He also finds himself with more that a bit of free time on his hands and usually can be found patrolling the streets of Southwest Los Angeles, Inglewood, Hawthorne, and Torrance.The truth about Hero/Cole is that he has been a failure and disappointment most of his short life. His parents, both elites, always expected great things from him. Cole was a gentle child and horrified by his parent’s aggressiveness. He was even more horrified as first his Mother, and then his Father succumbed to taint-induced madness. By the age of fourteen, Cole was a nova, on his own and living on the streets.In a way, Cole is driven to do good, because of his parents’ violent careers. He wants to make lives better because of the lives they took and ruined. He never talks about this, preferring to think that all novas should use their powers to make the world a better place. Sometimes he even believes he is as totally selfless as he wants to be.
