Real Name: Miranda Letchford
Date of Birth: January 4th, 1986
Date of Eruption: January 16th, 2008
Nationality: England
Occupation: Filmmaker

Physical Description: Miranda Skye is a Caucasian woman with red-and-black hair (dyed) and brown eyes. Her most notable feature are the angelic wings sprouting from her back. She typically dresses in jeans, a thick leather jacket (to keep out the chill of high-altitude winds,) goggles to keep the wind out of her eyes and her "kit bag" of assorted videochips, microphones, a pair of cameras, and the other tools of her trade.

Personality: Detached. Has a laconic sense of humor. Feels out of place both amongst baselines and amongst novas; covers it up by hiding behind a camera.

Background: Born to working-class parents in London, Miranda Letchford wound up an intern at the fabled London Times, working nights at a drugstore. If she was unhappy, she didn't show it.

If it's possible to have an "unremarkable eruption," Miranda had it; after a near-accident taking down Christmas lights, she went to bed and woke up with a giant pair of wings. She took what she described as "the longest bus ride of my life" down to the Rashoud facility on the other side of London, and was immediately declared a nova.

After learning how to use her wings to fly, Miranda mused on her options. While flying was cool - if scary - Miranda was smart enough to know that such a gift wouldn't be changing the world any time soon. However, it did lend her a certain cachet of fame, and certain subjects of interest might open up more to a nova than a baseline - not to mention the ability to keep up with many of them. Once she got out of the facility, she took the nome de novus "Miranda Skye" and started shooting a portfolio with a hand-held camera, which she used to help convince the BBC to co-finance her documentary proposal "One In a Million," 13 one-hour episodes, each dedicated to a different nova in the public eye.

She finds the Teragen and the Elites interesting subjects of study, but feels little kinship. She hasn't attempted to contact any of the Directive's publicly known novas. She gets along well enough with Utopia, who trained her and helped with post-eruption sickness and stress despite her apparently being the world's least useful nova.
