[Character] Hugin

Hugin

Recommended Posts

Adjusted for recent developments.

Name: James Meehan III

Gender: Male?

Sex: Hermaphrodite

Height: 6'0"

Weight: 215lb

Appearence: Hugin's features are androgynous and frighteningly beautiful. Light brown skin that is without flaw and facial features that seem to incorporate the finest of all ethnicities. Hugin's body has obviously changed since his return, "he" possesses aspects of both genders with obvious (albiet small) breast and a slight feminine curve to his hips and waist. Still muscular but no longer as bulky and far more shapely. Visitors to New Ground in possessio of superhuman olfactory senses confirm that Hugin gives off both female and male scent markers.

Since his return Hugin's wardrobe seems less garish. He tends towards robes and loose, flowing garments of soft, cool colors. The glasses and cane that were his constant companions are no longer evident.

Powers: His genius is widely know and undisputed. Utopian records show a wider access at altering quantum fields but he left prior to them being properly tested. There are rumors that he has the ability to call up reactions in people that hinder their ability to act. With a motion as if he is plucking a string he supposedly can bring forth muscle cramps, overwhelming nasuea, sexual climax or momentary blindness. It is also said that he can shut off quantum powers, though there are no witnesses to this. While his near-paranoia is well known he does seem hard to suprise, even by other Novas. With the exception of his physical appearance and brute strength (both of which still rival the greatest baseline potential) all of Prodigy's physical, mental, and social abilities have broached into the low to middle ranges of Nova ability. Those that have seen him in social situations with Novas known for their overwhelming presence have noted that Prodigy seems, while not unaffected, more capable of keeping his wits about him than most.

Known Facts: Born to wealthy parents Prodigy suffered from Down's Syndrome and as a result focused most of his energy in the realm of sports. When his parents died he inherited their fortune but remained under the care of a guardian. Enamored of Novas he managed to throw some funding towards a small group of Novas who desired to be Denver's municiple defenders. His eruption has never been verified or publically accounted for but is believed to have resulted from the presence of those Novas he supported.

Upon his eruption he joined Project Utopia as a member of Team Tommorow. He was touted as 'The Best There is at What You Do', something he was greatly embarassed by. His short tenure with Project Utopia ended peacefully enough with the departure of Prodigy and three of his closest friends; Morganna and Nimue Barrows and Jay 'The Saint' Prince. They founded a Nova-centric corporation, NextStep, with divisions in both entertainment and research and development of new technologies. Jay Prince was the public face of the corporation and the star of their musical offerings while Prodigy headed R&D for NextStep. Prodigy's career as scientist was marred by several heated and ultimately unsuccessful fights with Utopia's Technology Oversite Division and finally out of frustration Prodigy closed NextSteps scientific division. He has since come out in opposition to the release of any Nova generated technology to the baseline public regardless of it's value.

Since his leaving of NextStep he has remained slightly below the public radar. He opened and runs a Nova only cafe/social club in Tokyo by the name of NewGrounds and has been seen several times at the Blackburn in New York, supporting the his claim to being affiliated with the Teragen. He was publicly linked with Nimue Barrows for over a year but she disappeared some time ago and it was after her disappearence Prodigy first appeared with the glowing eye aberration that matched Nimue's. Rumor has it she was killed but nothing has been verified.

It is known he is extremely wealthy, but that can easily be explained given his family fortune. He also seems to get around the world quite easily despite lacking any known ability to bend space. It is thought he expends a great deal of cash in the hiring of spatial manipulators to allow him safe and quick travel. As any Nova possessing his intellect and/or fortune would be he is the subject of constant survaillence by a number of agencies but has never been accused of any crime. This despite the fact that he has been seen socializing with known organized crime members.

His one openly acknowledge endeavor is owenership and management of New Ground, a nova only establishment dedicated to socialization, the presentation of art and the creation of a nova identity. It is located in three floors of a Tokyo highrise.

Hugin returned from hiding in October of 2015 after nearly 10 months absence. No one has come forward to state knowledge of his whereabouts. Upon his return he announced he would no longer go by either James Meehan or Prodigy, choosing the name Hugin. He has taken over management duties at New Ground again though he has retained the services of some Devries agents to serve in an administrative capacity or as security for New Ground.

This is only for Sphinxes

Prodigy is a high ranking member of The Game, a competition among Sphinxes using nations or transnational entities as pieces. He has laid claim to Japan and wages a silent war against other players. While his public demeanor is genial if not a bit arrogant those playing The Game are aware he is capable of instigating great violence and misery to achieve his goals. He is a formidable player and a rutheless adversary. His goals seem colored by more than just advancing Japan as his chosen pawn though. Some perceptive Sphinxes have noted there is a long term goal Hugin works towards.

Updates

Re: The Game

Hugin has dropped out of The Game with his return from Chrysalis. Players of the game are well aware he broke the rules by brutally murdering Devon Barnes, a Viasoft employee and secret nova.

Secret communiques sent by an unknown third party during his disappearence made clear to the other players of the game that Meehan made no intention of repeating the violence but would happily do so if interfered with. His reputation for a bloodthirsty style of play made his threat all too believable. He has since been granted a minor degree of "immunity" to the machination of the players.

Re: The Teragen

Since his re-emergence from Chrysalis, Hugin has taken on a much more active role as a Terat. He no longer plays games with favors but rather directly helps member of Nova Vigilance with no expectation of reciprocation.

His closest allies in the group are:

Mako-A sharkman powerhouse who has terrorized Chinese shipping and Eastern Soma trade. Mako just recently exited from Chrysalis as well, but for the second time since his eruption in 2004. His physical might and resiliency are highly respected.

Gutter-A trash and filth producing waif of a girl. She is Mako's lover and a powerhouse in her own right. She has been through Chrysalis once.

Ape-A shapeshifter of midling power but great loyalty to Mako.

Hugin is openly opposed to both the Companions and the Cult of Mal. He vastly distrusts both Tarik and Delormier and refuses to be in either of their company.

NPCs of note in Hugin's life:

Mako-Extremely powerful member of Nova Vigilance. Has distrusted Hugin in the past, considering him nothing more than a favor-trading merchant but has come around to appreciate Hugin is more interested in actively participating in the struggle. His massive frame is most shark-like and his power is all the more amazing after his recent Chrysalis. Lover to Gutter.

Gutter-Soft spoken young woman who is constantly surrounded by refuse. Her powers over trash, dirt and the detrius of the urban landscape make her powerful in the right setting. Also has been through one Chrysalis.

Pong-High ranking player of the Game. Seems completely unintersted in anything other than scoring points and attaining supremacy for the sake of the game and game along. India. Almost completely unknown except among Sphinxes.
