First Plunge of the Knife

Timeslip

Recommended Posts

OK, campers, the basic idea behind this one is two-fold:

1. Personal repercussions on Long (Nova Vigilance member, former Elite) and Timeslip (Casablanca member) for their removal of Shen-Khan (Harvester member and Elite) from the timestream. See Returning to the Past , The Final Quiet Before the Storm and Freedom and Justice

2. The last stages of the festering, and the preliminary moves, before the Night of the Long Knives.

Certain high-level Harvesters have learned, via various means, that Long and Timeslip set out to remove Shen-Khan from the picture, that both Terat and non-Terat novas joined in the battle, and that Timeslip removed Shen-Khan from this timeline to another. This, along with word of Long's repudiation of his previous path as a Monster and mentorship under Blackout (an NV Marvel) and the increasing tensions between the Harvesters and Primacy and the Casablancas & NV, has led them to the conclusion that Shen-Khan was the first step in a gradual purge of Harvester Monsters, either by Long & Timeslip personally or possibly coordinated by the Casablancas & NV.

It was decided that, at a minimum, Long & Timeslip should be removed, with Timeslip taken out first -- both to keep her from retreating to another timeline (and thus becoming an effectively untouchable threat) and because she was the easier of the two targets. Harvester sharpshooter Rimfire was selected for the task, and equipped with a rifle that had a paper trail leading to a certain Casablanca assassin, hoping to turn that faction on itself. The action was not coordinated with the highest levels of the Harvesters; it was the decision of a handful of relatively highly-positioned members of said faction.

That is where the story starts. This is a place to discuss where it should go from there.

One of the things will that will come up is going to be the involvement of Preston in all of this.

Is this an internal terat thing, or ...

can terat novas, being free-thinking beings, involve whomever they want?

Some terats have developed extensive non-terat ties. Why would they ignore these in their hour of need?

Not to state the obvious, but the Mathematician (a Casablanca if anything) had a pretty good idea what was going to happen. Which makes me wonder just how big this will bloom because while Timeslip and Long are Terats (and fighting with other Terats might be something you don't want to do openly) the rest of the people involved aren't Terats, making them much easier and appropriate targets (they're outsiders, they lack support from an organized group, it's highly likely the rest of the Teragen won't care, etc etc).

Long has already made a call off camera to Count Orzaiz informing him of the shooting. He has asked the Count for assistance in finding those responsible. He has already set two Elites that specialize in capture and interrogation to find the actual shooter Rimfire. He does not no Rimfire so his instructions were simple enough to them. Search the area for a lead, and then follow it. Their success is hampered however by the Range of the shot. They lose time until they find lead. by the time Long, Chaos, and Preston arrive they have been gone only about ten minutes.

Long is very upset, but he's also very focused at the moment on finding whoever did this. He'd make a deal with the devil (as a matter of fact he feels he already has by actually asking Chaos for help) to find those responsible and make them pay.

As for Long asking Preston for assistance he has seen evidence that Preston has abilities that can help bring the truth to light, and when it comes time to bring those responsible to justice, Preston prings a certain legitimacy to it. Long has come to realize that killing those who did this is not wise, but he does want to see justice done.
