[OpNet] Hello there, everybody

Helen 'Kahroba' Grey

Recommended Posts

Since it appears to be a tradition of introducing oneself via a thread around this place, I shall do so.

My name is Helen Grey, also known as Kahroba, freelance Professor of Literature specialising in classically and medievally inspired poetry. I am not associated with Project Utopia or the Teragen in any way (philosophical differences on both sides) and if my services are required, I occasionally do work with DeVries or Novelty Consulting.

I am 26, single, born in Scotland and raised in England, educated at Oxford and in Europe. I am both a poetry lecturer and a professional poet whose influences include Imagism, Neoclassicism and Romanticism. I currently work in Europe and the United States. My favourite colours are warm tones (orange, yellow and red), my favourite music is almost anything (except for country), my favourite drink is Malibu and cola and my favourite food is chocolate.

I hope this gives everyone something in common with me so we can talk!

Seems like you've started a new trend here Helen, so I'll think I introduce myself as well.

My name is Brandon Bishop, and I recently picked up the name Crimson Dwarf during my time with Utopia.

I attended MIT university, and I specialize in engineering, and molecular science. I'm presently doing some contract work for Utopia, but mostly I do my own research. I'm 22 single and have a passion for old school rap music. Love to dance, although I'm not very good.

Although I've been reading this forum for a little while, I've never actually given an introduction, so I'll take this opportunity. My name is actually, through a twist of fate, Fae. I claim residence in London. I used to be a small-time (theatre) actress, something I hope to resume sometime in the future, but I'm not really ready for all the attention a nova on stage would bring. Currently, I work freelance at using my powers, making people's dreams come true, at least for a time, and for the right fee (my services, however, are free for novas, as I like to research what their dreams are like).

As for my tastes, I enjoy reading above all, watching theatre and, occasionally, opera coming a close second, I'm a great fan of the classics, Shakespeare above all, but I do enjoy more modern works as well, especially fantasy. Musically, I like things I can sit down, relax and possibly read with, Classical, Jazz or New Age.

Certainly do seem to be a lot of Brits around here, all of a sudden.

Helen: I'm very happy to see another Oxforder on the forums. You apparently graduated before I matriculated, but the academic record you left behind speaks for itself. I'm in a different field, of course, but it's a pleasure to know the world's greatest university is so well-represented here.

Red Dwarf: I apologize for the name confusion, sir. Please forgive a British geek-girl. I couldn't resist. Also, I hope you'll forgive me a moment of academic competitiveness when I tell you how happy I am to also see the third greatest university in the world represented here.

Fae: While I'm sure we do very different things with our powers, it seems that you and I are, in a way, in the same line of work. You seem like a charming woman, and it's good to know there's someone so accessible who is local. Perhaps we should get together for tea sometime.

Well, let me be here to tell you that you are welcome to stay here as long as you want. You are not alone and if you ever wish to talk to someone I may be willing to stop by my castle. I often play the white knight rescuing the princess. I know it is old hat but I have a real castle and a real princess, and well i dare you to say no to my sweet wife.

Well, no offense taken Regina, your lucky that I happen to have liked that show, but to call MIT third best is just crazy. Tell you what I'm already in London so let's meet up. How does that sound?

I'm surprised; someone who isn't in the American midwest at the moment? As much as I do want to get out and meet some of my fellow novas, I'm still a little hesitant about a face meeting, for reasons I can't quite go into at the moment. I'll tell you what. As long as you can be gentleman enough to stay off any subject that I feel is verboten, I'll meet you in front of Westminster on Monday.

Shall we invite someone from Cambridge along, for the purposes of equity?
