Participants: Allison, Smite, Crumble, Whisper, Rama, Glean, Kara.

Kara remains with Glean's unconscious body. She places her hangs on Glean's chest, closes her eyes, and Glean disappears. She then gets up and walks to Allison and Doc.

Even for a mega-social or rather, especially for a mega social, it is difficult to relate bad news.

"Glean is no more."

As time passes Doctor Chronos (i.e. the clone) takes his leave while Joe hangs around Allison and tries to keep a low profile. If he can get Allison alone he will ask her about the mysterious sword that was found on the "Thugs" who killed Lily, if he can get her along and he thinks he has the time he'll attempt to further examine the mysterious artifact she found. If everything stays fairly high profile he'll just stay in the background and watch things unfold.

Allison also keeps her head down...though the news about Glean hits her very hard. She'll do what she can to help Chronos, but the moment that Asche is free, she'll confer with him in private, even if it means interrupting her assistance.

<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->

A few hours later, the crowd has mostly dispersed from the arena. There are a few dozen stragglers lingering around the arena reflecting times of old or simply hanging out in the stands with friends. It is a much changed scene than it was a short couple of hours ago when the raekes were ending. The Raeke master went on and on about Rama and Baron Thomas and how these 'nova' terrans are going to be a force to be reckoned with and that it was no wonder the terrans were where they were today. He implies that novas must be behind the terran army and this causes quite a rush in the crowd.

The rest of the Raekes that were planned for today were rescheduled for tomorrow as station inspection teams came in and secured the ceiling and stands. In a short time, everything is back to normal. The station repairs itself with what appears to be nano-technology, but it does seem to need coercion from the inspection and repair teams. They are wielding small devices kin to a "tricorder" and scan areas of damage and then it begins repairing itself.

Asche has finally made himself known and exits wherever he was. He and Allison no doubt politely sequester themselves away for a few moments. When they return, the team has already been given their own private apartment as guests of honor. This originates from the fact that they are friends of Rama; when they note that you are all together, they provide him not with simply a private one bedroom apartment but with a 6000 sf domicile with 6-7 bedrooms and pool. It is rather lavish and is complete with the Indian theme that would befit Shiva their self. {[Rama, take as much or as little liberties you desire in describing this.}} You are all showed to the apartment but are in no manner required to be there; they will call for Rama and Smite when the Lords are ready to see them. Its not until 20:00 that they finally do call. It has been nearly 2 hours since you all left the arena.

Tonya and Reaa visit with Chronos (Joe) and are very polite and charming but are in no manner appearing to be 'girly-girls' as they speak of the battles they are having with the dark-wielders (Knights of Lesture) and answer questions Joe might have on the orbs. It is during this conversation that the call comes for Rama. He is invited to an audience with the Lords of StarHaven and is told he can bring his friends if he wants. It appears the Lords are interested in all they can get in learning something about Nova's and they are being as tactful as possible about getting face time with any of them.

It is with that then that we are at the beginning of the meeting with the Lords of Starhaven. Rama and his company are brought to a grand chamber deep toward the center of the Station very near the arena. They are shown to a table much like you would see in a courtroom where the counsel would sit. Then the panel of 'judges', the Lords all sit in a semi circle around them.

The chamber is very impressive with all its adornments and statues of warriors and others circling the room. The technology of the station is displayed on one wall in the forms of flat screens and holograms showing various scanner readouts and such. The room is not designed to intimidate but it also not meant to place visitors at ease.

There are 27 Lords and they are all present save for 2. Their seats are behind a heavy desk atop a 2 step high raised floor. NO names are given but they simply all bow and greet you from afar. It is not until any speak that they tell their names. Among the Lords sits human, save for the fact that standing he is well over 10 feet tall. Another of the members has a blue tinged hair and 6 digits on each hand as well as two pupils in his purple eyes. It is he who speaks first as he introduces himself as Vlaan T'Viit of the K'ta'viiri. His accent is unidentifiable but his English is perfect.

"Thanks are in order first, you Rama and to Baron Thomas of York. We are in debt for your actions and we don't take our debts lightly. And forgive us for not accommodating you in another room, this is simply the biggest area we have that has the facilities we might need. Please relax."

"But before we go on I am told that there might be some things that you and your 'kind' might be in need of, something your searching for that we might be able to help with."

He pitches the word 'kind' as a question, implying the fact that they are very interested in learning more about Novas.

Smite attempted to look sincerely across the room of Lords. IT was difficult to be both sincere and pleasant, as their need was both pressing and serious. But he managed it with a certain quiet dignity.

"Our journey here has been a perilous, and I would not ask if there was not great need. We see access to the Library of Nomikos."

Each of the Lords looks at Smite and then at Rama and whomever else is with them. ON most of them, the expression of mild surprise can be detected. Vlaan looks the least 'upset.'

"You certainly are not accidental tourists here today; you know of what you speak and you know when to ask. Your timing and circumstance is just right is it not. It is almost as if the recent activities were arranged to set you in motion for this. Amazing."

Vlaan pauses a moment and looks at a couple of members of the 25 present. Then without further hesitation he asks;
"We will need a short discussion about that as we access systems to properly define your request to those of us who are not 'in the know' of certain things."
Those words cause the majority of the 25 to falter a bit betraying how few of them are really in the know. Or perhaos they are upset that Vlaan mentioned that they dont know enough.
"But in the mean time, might we inquire as to how you have come to know that name and place?"

Rewind: Rama's composure is shocked to learn that Glean is no more. He regains it quickly but remains in a sober and introspective demeanor.

Rama kneels befor the Lords of StarHaven and bows his head all the way to the floor. Returning to seiza, he replies.

Smite follows, knowing that this was likely some sort of behind the scenes arrangement. Those were common enough in any government regardless of size. Once he had stepped in, he took a moment to consider the two standing before them and size them up so to speak. It would certainly lead to some problems if they were trying to provoke something or deal with them. That too could be called common.

"I think we can all appreciate candor. So what would you tell us?"

22:00 hours

Tuesday, December (Suruan) 14, 498 CY

Participants: Allison, Smite, Crumble, Whisper, Rama, Glean, Kara.

Teresa meets the trio in stride and getures for them to turn and walk with her and her male companion.

"Lets walk. Please. Standing still and sitting in these meetings make me much to giddy and anxious."

After everyeon is walking abreast of each other, she says;

"My name is Teresa. You can call me Ter or Teresa but no Miss or Lordess crap if you want me to take you serious. And this chunk of meat next to me here is Fier {(Fear)}. Were both what you might call life time members here and have been here since StarHaven was discovered. Thats our backgrounds anyhow and all that should be needed for you to weigh us in properly."

Coming to a corner in the hall, she gestures to turn right. The Hall ends some fifty meters ahead and there is only one visile door about two-thirds of the way down the wide hall on the right.

"I am purestrain terran. I dont know if you know what that means so I will tell you. It means that my geneology can be traced back to about the twenty-third president of the United States. That ought to be a term you're familiar with. My line, my ancestors bloodliine has and never will be tainted with genetic altering or alien hybrids and this makes me and my kind special in the terran empire. I dont say this to imply that I am a bigot or posess prejudice towards you at all, quite the opposite really. I want to help you and I am well within my power to do so. And I want to help you because of both what you all did today and for the simple fact that you are closer to my kind than most terrans today what with bionics and cybernetics and such."

She pauses her talk a moment to pull out a small PDA. She glances at the readout that displays;

::Access code is Zx678NOM-9A23-JUX. I hope this works for you Terri. Were pulling for you.

You have until 2243 to use it and it will only open for ten seconds.::

The end of the hall is approaching but she slows a little and puts the PDA back into her lether vest pocket.

"Fier here is of a House that is sympathetic to our cause as he has some special ties with the human empire. But between the two of us, we represent 40% of the people that know the way to the Library adn thats where were taking you now. Do you have any questions or concerns aside from how you are planning to leave the Library and trust issues?"

She grins for the first time as she says the word 'trust' but walks on to just before the secured door at the end of the hall. She pulls her PDA out again and begins pressing and tapping on it as she awaits a reply.

Thomas suspected that she was not being entirely forth right. Yes, a politician being less than forth right, in other news water appears to be wet. That she had brought them there meant either she hoped to win support or gain from their success, or that she was setting them up in some manner. Either way, it would get them what they needed.

"I do imagine you know the paths back from the Library, so that sharing that would be helpful. It is also less likely to cause trouble for those who have sought to aid us if there is a way to leave quietly. As for trust, I wouldn't worry about that. There is no reason not to take you at your word and there are far less painful ways of committing sucide. "

Joe has thousands of questions, but none worth delaying a visit to the library. He says,

"Benjamin Harrison served with honor and advanced the cause of his people. Six states joined in his time and the United States became stronger because of it. Ter, Fier, you follow in his footsteps."

Teresa and Fier take the last few steps toward the door. Fier places his back tot he wall next to the door as Teresa inputs some data into her PDA and transmits it to a sensor in or near the door. After a rapid series of clicks and taps, an audible click and hum are heard.

Fier and myself are not going with you. We cannot. We are just showing you the way for now and you can go there at your liesure. Just pay attention to your path there and you should be able to get back."

She places her hand down and pushes the door open and steps into the darkened room.

"Come on in." Fier steps past her and gestures you all to follow.

Teresa lets the door shut behind you all and then fiddles around on the wall in the dark looking for a switch, a button that any of you with mega perception can see in the dark. After the row of hanging lights comes on a line through this impossibly large room is illuminated. The row of hundreds of lights hanging from nothing apparently, goes on for several hundred lights placed every 50-75 feet.

"When you were in the World Serpent last time, and I am assuming thats how you got here, you might have noted that some people are there for no other reason than to be there. Their just loitering around waiting for something. Well, many people are just waiting to hear that someone has been to the Library. Keep your mouths shut when you get back into the Serpent and dont show anyone the way back that you dont trust. And while you travel to the Library on the foggy path, pay heed the lights like these above you somehwhere in the fog."

She gestures you all to the hanging lights.

"Follow these and you will come to a pair of doors. The wooden one leads to the World Serpent. The heavy iron one leads to the path just outside the fringe of the world serpent. From your perspective once you enter the door, the direction to your right will lead to the Library and the left back to the Inn. You wont be able to come back here through this door though and the hanging lights showing your way back to the right path will try to confuse you; not all of them are lit and their not perfectly lined up on the path. Illusions will hide the true path there and back and you risk never being seen again."

Teresa places her hands in her jacket pockets.

"I'd advise researching the paths while you were in the library before you leave. Apprently no one has thought about that until it was too late. SO if you are all set to go, I wish you luck. These light will only stay on another 40 minutes so if you need some preparations, do them fast. Heres a way to contact me or Fier if you need once you get back."

She hands a set of crystalline disks to Joe.

"The red one is mine."

[The party knows a way back to StarHaven through the Inn.

Allison is presently not with you.]

Library of Nomikos

Chronos, Rama, Whisper?, Allison, Smite, Rama

After notifying Allison of the update, she informs the team that she is only a few minutes away. After she arrives, and Fier and Teresa depart, the route to the Library is taken. The row of hanging lights is followed for about 10 minutes of walking time until a pair of doors is finally seen down the path in the huge ‘warehouse.’ Looking back, it appears that the lights have split into 3 paths and those paths split a few times each; the rooms seems filled now with paths of light branching here and there. None of the return paths can be determined so only the path forward through the doors seems feasible. {One with mega perception of 2+ could see the proper path and navigate back to the exit). The wooden door has as simple latch that lifts up, which Smite opens and enters first. The rest of the team follow closely behind.

At first, the room on the other side looks like nothing more than that. Another room. Chronos pulls the door shut behind the team and the white glare of reflected light fills the teams vision. The room fills with a fog and the walls fade away. Then the fog lightens allowing visibility of over 50 feet and a path can be seen flowing to the right and to the left. Following Teresas advice, the team turns to the right to begin the walk toward the Library of Nomokos. This time, the walk seems to be more than 30 minutes until grass can be see growing on the ground in sparse patches. It gets more and more dense until the grass on the sides of the rocky path seems to try to obscure the route. A rocky set of stairs down is the finality of the path. The stairs are placed in the side of a slope as if on a step hill and the bottom cannot be seen. Following the only route, the team finds their selves at the bottom of the stairs in a ring of stone boulders. Their arrangement is akin to Stonehenge but the 4 ton boulders are knocked over off their bases. Grass and vines are everywhere and the path ends here.

After a short discussion, its decided their must be a trigger of some sort to the rest of the path and the boulders must be restacked, which can be done in short order by Smite or another Mega-strong member. Once the last boulder is properly positioned atop its base a breeze kicks up and the smell of ancient parchments and wood overwhelms the teams senses. The light dims and the temperature drops drastically until it hovers around 40 degrees Fahrenheit. The light fades to near darkness and a ceiling materializes in the shadows above the team. Shelves and rows of shelves begins forming out of the darkness and the grass and vines fall back. The circle of rocks fades away and the shelves, now full of books and scrolls, are surrounding the team as far as they can see. The team is now standing in what might be the center of a vast dimly-lit library of ancient times. Walls cannot be seen in either direction, much like the World Serpent Inn. The breeze settles and the parchments settle leaving the team in a musty, near freezing room.

There is not a sound in either direction. Once one of the team moves out of the center, the light of the Library increases slightly and down various rows can be seen remnants of dead ones. Skeletons, decayed clothing and packs, even the bones of what must have been a horse are seen. In one of the skeleton gatherings, they are piled up around a fire. They seem to have gathered themselves in a larger hall at the end of a row of books and used books and scrolls to burn for warmth. This row seems to be spaced from all the rest and there is over 20 feet from the next rows where all other rows are spaced at about 8 feet apart. There are over a dozen dead ones, all well over 100 years old by Chronos’ affirmation. All seem to have been trapped here.

Further looking around reveals scrape marks on the ground where other seem to have moved the shelves around. Moving some things around near the center of the room also reveals a 2 meter diameter circle of very small and intricate runes carved into a circle of 5 circles within circles that all slide and line up with clicks. The runes are oddly in some ancient language of earth, maybe Egyptian hieroglyphics than Rama or one of the mega intelligent members can read. There is a symbol for a number of subjects followed by more subject and adjectives and it appears that the series of interlocking circles is in fact the Library directory. Once a series of clicks are done and the center of the circle stood in, an ephemeral sphere of light appears and begins moving to a particular book or scroll. The first book is on gardening and how to grow a certain hybrid rose, which Allison might have an interest in but offers nothing of real value for the teams search.

{{It will take about an hour for Rama or Chronos to ‘decode’ the interlocking Librarian. After that it will take awhile to fine tune the circles to a topic your looking for. It was originally discussed that you would look for the entrance into Ba’alt so you could go tell Ba’laans people what he’s doing. It’s theorized that his people would not agree 100% with what he’s been doing and act. There are however a numerous amount of other things you might decide to look into. You have all been away from Starhaven now for over 2 hours.}}

The first thing Joe attempts to look up is "help for using this facility" which may have pointers and warnings about using this place. Something got those dead people trapped here.

Assuming there are no warnings against it, 'Joe' tries to use his senses to determine the age of various books and the library itself. He also attempts to determine whether this is the way the library really looks or is it just how his mind interpretes it (q-scan a scroll).

Then he really bears down and gets started, looking into the paths, Ba'laan (history, weaknesses, strengths, current activities), Cin (ditto, for reference purposes).

While they work on decoding, Allison looks around a bit...staying close to the group and listening to her inner feelings, to see if she can sense dangers or whispers of the future. Once the books are accessible, she tries to find a book by visual reference...comparing them to the tome she saw in her vision.

Allison wanders the books, feelign around here and there. Occasionally she needs to step over a corpse or a pack from someone left times past. She is searching for a needle in 12 haystacks but in about 30 minutes she stops almsot with a gasp in front of a shelf of books. Most in this area are covered with a small layer of dust, the book she looks at however looks as if it ws just placed on the shelf. No layer of aging dust is on it and it even cracks when opened betraying the virgin spine.

Meanwhile, a light breeze has turned up. Very Light. But enough to turn pages if left unbound and the smell of wet earth and grass among the aroma of fresh rain wafts in. The breeze seems to be coming from the 'right' side of the Library but investigation in that direction leads only to rows and rows of books. The endless rows grow on forever and seem to go on without limit if one follows a path of shelves. Only occasionally is there cut in the path leading to the row right adjacent.

Following this path into the light breeze, also leads to another pair of lost stragglers. Long dead, their clothing is disintegrating. One of the corpses however still graps a thin tome in his lap. The books title is undiscernable and the scribbliing inside is alien. It looks like more of a log or diary than an actual book.

Smite will keep pace with the rest of the group and doing what is needed. More than anything he is concerned about them being ambushed. He believe that the others can certainly take care of any information gathering that needs to be done.

"Joe" finds some books, looks them over, and then starts reading out loud,

"First up, the Library itself..."

Quote:
A man named Antlio Nomikos used to run this Library when it was a simple library on the isle of Matan in the Krythan Continent on the planet of Kulthea. Kulthea was home to a new society, int he history of time, and was not much more advanced than ancient Greece. Antlio was fond of puzzles and pictographs and was known for creating many impossible to solve riddles and for creating reasonings about the unreasonable. Nothing was too taboo or sacred for him to delve into and this got him into trouble time and again with magistrates and various politicians. He never widely published many of his embarrassing findings but instead hid them away for any to see in his library. The books however were placed unlike any other library and only Antlio could guide one to their goal. He often took delight at visitors trying to figure out the placement pattern as they searched for days for a book that Antlio promised was there.

Then as Antlio aged and was in his early 90’s, a pair of strangers came to him and offered him, with no small discussions, the protected place where the Library now exists. He was promised eternal life and time to do all the research he ever wanted to if he would only help operate the trans dimensional library. He agreed. He was then asked to make a system in which visitors could locate books themselves for when he was not around. As was typical, he devised a puzzle like system...

Joe comments, "Not a hard system to break but also not very user friendly. Let me guess, someone who was powerful but dumb objected?"
Quote:
This system worked for a countless many years until 61 real years ago, a Nautyan (a large human-like alien species native to the galaxy where Rathiens live) named Broc Cuthalion happened upon the Library. Broc was not one of particularly strong reasoning abilities but wanted to find information on how to use Truenames. When he was unable to decipher the codes to locate the books, he used the magic of the Library against it. As books are left out or finished being used, they magically teleport themselves back to where they came from. If Nomikos was there, he placed them back on the shelves himself. Broc reasoned correctly that if there was a tragic mess of the library, the keeper would show up and begun knocking over shelves, placing entire shelves in the wrong places and even burned a few books. Nomikos showed up and warned Broc to stop and said that he had to leave but Broc was not ready, as his questions were not answered. To make a long story short, Broc was never answered and ended up damaging both the entrance and exits for the Library. Broc had used anti-matter weapons and tachyonic disruption weapons and in doing so, damaged the very fabric of the multi-dimensional location of the Library. This tear in the fabric also allowed a certain man named Ba’laan to enter this reality when that same accident made a passage between Ba’alt and our Prime.

It is said that the only way to exit the Library is to wait to be escorted out by Antlio himself, since the exits were damaged by Broc. Antlio however has sought to remove the knowledge of the Library from the passages so as to prevent any from getting accidentally trapped there. Antlio has not been seen in the Library in many years and there is no book on his doings. There is information on people trying to gain access to the Library and anchor it in real-time/space from where is once was on the island of Matan. It is reported that there is a grassy hill that the circle of stones that used to surround the large stone building of the library. ON this grassy hill on Matan, certain periods of the year reveal ghostly images and reflection into the Library of Nomikos. Many have tried to enter and few have made it never to be heard from again.

Joe pauses and comments,

"So we may need to cause a disruption in the library’s order of things to get Nomikos to show up. Let's how up to date we are, this next one is about Cin."

Quote:
Cin:

Born Lucinda Tyra McGuffy in the year 2038 to Don Thomas McGuffy and Lisa Antoinette Williams. Single child. Parent both killed in train accident. Lucinda was raised by various family members from the age of 4 to 16. When Lucinda was 17, her travels led her to come in contact with Asche Lonn, who was checking her to verify her positive “bloodline” status. Asche saw something in her and saw to it to make sure she was to erupt in a few years and even sub-programmed that she develop certain abilities (q-bolt, unaging, and verility.) Lucinda erupted at 23 when she was in a fight with some gangers and was never the same again. The 5 gang members were beaten to death without mercy and Lucinda found that she liked to have the upper hand and became what some would call and Elite, but was more or less freelance. Killing became more and more easy as her powers grew and because of Asche’s tampering, she also developed the capacity to channel her taint more efficiently and founded the philosophy called Divergence.

Her weakness although she is a cold blooded killing machine, is her friends. She hold what relationships she has as dear. She also almost never gives her all in a combat and likes to gauge her opponents before she beats them. She always tries to dodge and never uses her q-bolt until she is sure that is the only way she can hurt something. She loses much of her combat defensive ability if she is not mobile.

Her ‘records’ indicate that after the battle at StarHaven, she and her team were intercepted by Asche and placed in a stasis where they presently remain. She no longer has possession of the Incarnate of Fury and there is no record of where it went other than it was lost during the battle in the arena.

Joe comments again, "So she's on ice, good for us. Now for Big and Bad."
Quote:
Ba’laan

Little details here. Antlion places a note stating that he not to divulge too much information in print for enemies were many and friends were few. All that is noted is that Ba’laan is an Iruar Lord and comes from Ba’alt. He is the only Iruar ever to leave Ba’alt. The only reported gate to Ba’aalt is here, in the Library but has been reported to have its location mapped out by Mitchifer, the Keeper of the World Serpent Inn.

Joe says,

"Not much... but that gate to his homeworld being here is interesting. Maybe there's some details is associated subjects which got through."

Joe attempts to research "Iruar Lords", "Ba’alt", and the gate to the same, i.e. how to access it. He also attempts to research various parts of the Ban and it's enforcement to see if there is anything new there.

Joe finds the same lack of information on the "Iruar Lords" and "Ba'alt." It is as if Antlio deliberately left this information out. The information simply states that Ba'alt is where all life and all existences formed and it is run by 'uncaring' and unconcerned entities.

The information on the Ban agrees with the theory that it is now integrated into the very fabric of space/time and is considered a law akin to gravity.

Lack of information on how to access the gate is probably frustrating and might make it easier to disrupt some things.

Although Doc never grumbles, Joe does so at the lack of results. He says,

"I perceive a content filter at work here. Wait, assume that's correct..."

Lost in thought Joe continues to research, next he tries looking up how the library filters things and where that information goes, then he tries to look up what Broc was, i.e. how to use Truenames. That thought leads to the idea of researching the orbs (Joe is an old hand at this one so he could quickly decide how fruitful this is likely to be), and then 'how to contact Nomikos without trying to destroy the library'.

There are some books obviously missing, once Joe reveals the pattern in which the library is set up. The books mentioned in Brocs history, the ones on TrueNames, are no longer present. Their not in the right spot anyhow and their not revealing themselves at this time. What is foind on the orbs is quite a bit of detail not nothing really new compaed to what Joe knows. The only thing of note is a unsupported rumor that the Incarnates, once seperated from their blades, are said to imbbue their wielders with a sum of powers of quite a few Iruar. Antlio theorizes that one Incarnate is a peer in power to Ba'laan but using them in concert could lead to new masters of this reality.

Joe is deep in thought absorbing the books, as is Allison at the time that the breeze picks up and some new voices can be heard. Off in the distance comes the sounds of over a dozen voices calling for a Newton.

"Newton. Newton! Can you hear us? Are you allright?" Comes a voice from afar.

Then a lower voice; "He cannot possibly be alive anymore Rina, its been nearly 11 years for us."

The conversation continues and the various muttering and speech becomes undiscernable.

Smite however is able to find what might be determined as an 'end' to the Library. The mists similar to the edges of the World Serpent Inn is thich here and the voices seem to come from beyond the mists. In that same area, through the mists, can be barely seen the dark outline of the stonehenge-like crop of rocks that surrounded the Library.

Joe gives a long sigh and says,

"I could stay here for years. They actually have something new about the orbs. But there's definitely an upper bound on how useful this is going to be. Content filter is with us."

Joe checks up on Alison and the others to see if everyone is done and ready to move on.

(OOC: Find Weakness Roll on Disrupting the Library's operation. The plan he's considering is just running around halting time for important chunks of things.)

It will be a matter of time, frankly, until Joe and Allison are able to descramble a way out. I wanted to make sure all were set and ready and had looked at what they wanted to before we moved on.

From outside the sounds of the calling stop. Mega perception would allow the sound of astonished gasps of unbelief. The sounds of calling are coming from within the fog to one side of the library. As one ventures down a certain row, Smite has measured out about 250 yards to the end, the fog seems to dissolve the rows of books. The Library seems to be in the middle of a cloud that even mega perception cannot peer through, with its rows of books running outwards like the spokes on a wheel until they dissolve into the mists.

"No, We are outside, in the fields near the town of Dusmin. IS Newton with you or do you know of him?"

The voice returns this time certainly a female. Concern for a loved one is written on her tone.

Joe says,

(To the voices) "Describe Newton. Who or what am I looking for?"

(To Allison) "Do you think we could walk out that way? Would that leave us back in time as well?"

Joe looks around on the floor to see if he can find something to throw towards the voices (something off one of the bodies would do). If he finds something he will throw it.

"Oh no, he's not in there I just know it. If only I would ha..."

"Shhh.. dont fret about it. The nature of these things is very fickle Marna. Let me take over here."

The voices of a worried women and a wizened older man debate a moment then the man replies again, in a louder voice.

"He is dressed in some dark brown leather breeches and a red linen shirt. He ought to be rather noticeable as he is a rather tall man, standing over 18 hands. I am afraid though that were not asking the right people, can I ask you when and where you are from?"

The man he describes is one of the bodies seen earlier, dead for over 4 years. One of you would recall it. Chronos is not certain but might note that he is sensing a ripple in the time continuum as if the voices are from history. The exact amount of years is unknown.

Throwing a piece of rubbish makes it fade away into the mists in the distance but the sound of its impact is lost.

(note that this is happening just before Chronos tries to 'disturb' the Library and gain Nomikos' attention.)

Joe says back,

"Sure, I'm Joe. We're inside Nomikos' Library (Joe gives the current date). I'm pretty sure there's a temporal inversion going on. What year and location are you from?"

(Joe waits for the answer)

"Well, you should know there's someone here who matches that description, but he's been dead for a while here. That might not mean anything though. He might make it back to you before dying here. Can I do anything for you or him? What was his name?"

Allison shakes her head as she examines the foggy boundary zone.

"I think it would be incredibly dangerous to try," she says. "I'm not sure how this works, but it looks to me like it's meant to separate the Library, not act as a portal. Time travel can be risky even if you're using a device that's specifically meant to ease the passage. Walking across a temporal rift without any protection...you could wind up a smear of atoms, all shifted into different times, or be torn apart by shearing effects...or just get trapped in the rift between times forever."

She looks over at the bodies.

"Even so, these guys must have gotten here somehow. Maybe there's a stable way through."

A short length of silence passes before the wizened man replies;
"I am not familiar with that calendar date but were from Dusmin. Its a port town on the isle of Furmony. Scholars call our world Min but thats debatable. Our calendar tells us were in the 310th year, season of Winsebb. I think that's all moot though."

The woman breaks up into near hysterics. The wizened man tries to calm her a few moments until it sounds as if she is running away in the distance.
"That is what I had feared. The gate on this side is said to be one way and we warned Newton."
Another short pause.
"Well thank you Joe. You should know that it is said you cannot exit from there the same way you entered without ending up as Newton. PLease be wary. Good luck and good by."
