Name: Carver

Real Name: Jael "Willa" Carver

Gender: female

Height: 5'9"

Weight: 150 pounds

Age: approx. 25

Appearance: Red and green striped hair frame a thin, oval face. Gray eyes shine in nearly any light, but when she becomes emotional, they glitter like the edge of blade. She is delicate and willowy in form but moves with an unconscious confidence that she obviously doesn't feel. She prefers to appear in jeans and casual shirts but will dress up as appropriate. She is somewhat quiet and shy unless she is talking about her sculptures.

Known powers: Carver has powerful claws which can cut though almost anything; since her eruption, she has talked about sculpting with her fingers, though shies away from committing to doing so. She is tough with naturally strong skin. Whether she has any other abilities is unknown. She has not learned to fly or use any special movement powers.

Interestingly, most of her control seems to be instinctual. Carver has never experienced difficulty controlling her powers in the Facility, and claims that even the early days of her eruption, she had no loss of control. Her powers are not considered to be “flashy,” a condition which has indicated ease of control in other Novas before, so this may be a symptom of the type of powers she possesses.

Taint: Carver has shown two physical symptoms of Taint: her hair has changed from blonde to a striped red and green, and her eyes have changed from gray to silver-gray and appear to be metallic in certain situations, usually, when she is emotionally agitated. Examinations of her quantum signature indicate a higher level of Taint than she displays, which leads us to assume that she is suffering from a mental or emotional aberration. She has given no indication as to what this could be, but her counselor suspects that it is related to her fugue state (see Psychological analysis, below).

The Facility coordinators supervising her are concerned at the high level of Taint in one so new to the Nova condition. They have formally requested that she stay longer so that they may determine the extent of her aberrations, but Carver has expressed a desire to go home and is still scheduled for a 14-day release.

Note: Though Carver had passed the point where she needed Mox for the terrible headaches that accompany eruption, she was still dosed until the Facility coordinators determined that she had control over her powers.

History: Carver erupted during the tragedy at Ibiza. She was trapped in a building for several days; at some point in her ordeal, she erupted. Because of the fact that it was unwitnessed, we have yet to gain an accurate account of her eruption. She has not been able to provide us with an accurate account due to the shock and trauma.

Before her eruption, she was the oldest child of a middle-class family in Arizona. Her mother sales real estate; her father has retired from construction. She has a sister who teaches fourth graders in a private, Christian school. She had a loose circle of friends, but was particularly close with one, Shelly Collins, who died at Ibiza. Carver has a long-term relationship with a James Guhde, an agriculture student at the University of Phoenix. Carver is receiving her art degree from the same institution.

Psychological analysis: Carver is under extreme mental and emotional pressure. She has been meeting regularly with a counselor to combat feelings of depression and loss of identity. Her counselor reports that these feelings do not seem extreme, and that Carver should recover from her negative feelings in time. Counselor recommends positive interactions with other Novas.

Her counselor has also reported episodes of fugue where Carver appeared to be focusing elsewhere. Carver has adamantly denied these episodes, insisting that nothing is wrong. She shows traits of extreme stress during these episodes and subsequent denials; her counselor has recommended a deep, invasive Telepathic Reading, but her coordinators feel that it would affect her view of Novas and by extension herself adversely.

Follow-up (23JUL15): Carver has slowly come to terms with her new powers and the changes in her life. She has connected with other Novas in the community and her outlook has improved. When her counselor contacted her at her parents’ house, Carver was away in Chicago, looking for a house to purchase. According to her father, Carver intends to re-furnish the house and sell it for a profit. She has arranged for a roommate and seems very excited about the move. Her father has reported some difficulty in reincorporating her into the house, but asserts that she is still his daughter and she is accepted by her parents. No comment on the sister’s level of acceptance.

Follow-up (24AUG15): Carver was recently attacked by the Church of Michael Archangel. Members of the local Windy City Knights rallied around the girl before Team Tomorrow could get there and they seem to be drawing her into their group. Immediate recruitment efforts recommended.

Follow-up (03OCT15): Carver seems to have taken up with the XWF wrestler Mythic. She has been seen in his company several times.

Follow-up (28OCT15): Carver has been seen in public with the former body-guard Cade; apparently her relationship with Mythic is over. Recently, she has been to New Ground; rumors abound that she will be doing a piece for the Terat-run club.

Carver was also deeply involved in the crisis in Chicago on October 14, 2015. By all accounts, she nearly died; she may have been responsible for setting Wakinyan on his rampage. The Project's private investigation into this episode continues.

In the meantime, Carver has supplied the seed money to start a new organization called "The Chicago Foundation." This group's charter requires them to offer aid to the general public due to "personal disruptions in individual's lives caused by Nova presences or fights, whether these interruptions were accidental or deliberate." Investment and a position on the board of directors should be arranged through PU's public relations department as soon as possible.

Follow-up (20JAN16): Carver has successfully founded and is running the Chicago Foundation, a non-for-profit organization dedicated to helping people whose lives have been adversely affected by novas and nova-related causes. PU has a member on the board and will continue to monitor the Foundation's activities.

Personally, Carver appears to have returned to her relationship with Mythic. The two are clearly in a relationship; they are often seen together in public, and display a good deal of affection for one another.

Follow-up (29MAY16): Carver has begun preparations to move to New York City, where she will be living with Mythic. Leadership of The Chicago Foundation will be passed down to Cade and the current baseline administrative staff. Subject shows every sign of being a happy and well-balanced nova.
