Craig Thomas Preston

C.T. Preston is a police detective in Boston, MA. He comes from a family steeped in law enforcement and is proud to help defend his city in the Nova Age.

His career was pretty standard, if somewhat exemplary. He became one of the youngest detectives in Boston’s Burglary division and graduated to heading up a narcotics taskforce. By the time he was 42, he was divorced with one son. He was well on his way to become head of Narcotics in a few years.

His eruption came about when he, his partner, Larry Blondsdale, and two Homicide detectives were investigating narcotics related murders in South Boston’s train yards. We confronted a nova known as the Dark Master (aka DarkMatter) with some cultists. A firefight ensued, Larry was killed and I was wounded. One of the Homicide detectives was chopped up with an axe, but his partner, Selena Ramirez, was kicking serious ass, when DarkMatter intervened. He was about to kill Selena, when she erupted. Her eruption triggered my own. Unfortunately, DarkMatter escaped in the resulting chaos, but we were to see more of him again.

Selena and I were rushed to the Rashoud Facility and thoroughly examined. We were both offered the chance to join Utopia, but declined. We were both cops through and through. Selena and I soon became partnered and resumed our hunt for DarkMatter and his cult. They were taking over the drug underworld in our city and we were going to stop them. We finally managed to catch up with them, but DarkMatter escaped. That was the first time Utopia intervened.

Initially, we were told that DarkMatter was a Teragen member and that the Teragen was moving new designer drugs through the city. We were both new to our powers and we were the only novas Boston had, so we let Utopia help us. It wasn’t until I learned that the Triton Group was behind the drugs that things changed (1). We soon discovered that the Utopians were stonewalling us and burying evidence. Worse, they were using “undue mental influence” on the mayor and Police Commissioner. When I learned this, I really blew my stack.

Selena and I set a trap for the Utopian team coordinator and put a stop to his crap. The Utopians were told to leave and they did, for a while. Soon, we had other nova problems. The Teragen (2) began to make more inroads into Boston and we were outgunned. Boston passed a bond referendum and we hired three DeVries Elites to augment our new Nova Crime Enforcement Division. Leading the team was a relatively unknown Elite named Virgil. We couldn’t afford the services of more experienced Elites. Virgil and his team helped us turn the tide.

When we tried to find ways to lock up the novas we arrested, Utopia interfered again. They claimed that we were using unlawful technology and the Federal Government wouldn’t back us up. I am proud to say that we didn’t turn those novas over to Utopia. They were really starting to tick us off. Instead, we turned them over to the FBI and the Directive because we had evidence that they were smuggling the narcotics over state lines.

Further investigations led us to storm the Rashoud Facility and drive out the other Utopian operatives out of Boston. We hunted down their dummy corporations and fronts and learned about the Aeon Society. As usual, we didn’t get very far before we ran into Utopians stonewall of “you don’t need to know” and their legal department.

About this time, my family began to kick in. Legally, my father went before the Massachusetts Supreme Court and got them to decide that Utopian had no legal authority in the state, or in the country for that matter (yeah!). They also said that Utopia’s had no authority to restrict technological development in the state. So far, the Federal Courts have backed us up. Boston is becoming a haven for technological development on the East Coast. We are also planning to build a Nova containment facility that really works.

(1)I had a vision, which doesn’t count as evidence.

(2)Recently, we have had to re-think who these Teragen really are. Some have been real members while others have been Utopian plants using the name Teragen to cover their illicit operations. Again, we have no proof. Yet.

My Family:

My mother’s father was the Captain of Precinct 11. He came from a long line of police officers. My mother’s brothers and sisters still supply the city with several O’Neil’s in the police force.

My mother worked in the District Attorney’s Office. It was were she met my Dad. A drunk driver killed her when I was in high school.

My father has become Attorney General for the Commonwealth recently. He ran on a No Tolerance Policy toward nova crime. He has been instrumental in helping us turn the tide against Utopia. I fear for his life.

I am the oldest of four children. My oldest brother is in police forensics. My sister has graduated from Boston College and Harvard with a law degree and is now an ADA. My youngest brother just made detective sergeant over in Homicide.

My ex-wife is a real bitch and wants more ‘child support’ because I’m richer now. She has started going to the Church of Michael Archangel just to piss me off.

My son is a great guy. He has grown up real well, despite his mother. He isn’t going to be a cop and that’s okay with me. He wants to be a doctor and has summer interned with a bio-pharmaceutical company in the area.

I have started seeing my ex-partner’s daughter, Alyssa Blondsdale, which is kind of strange. She is a friend of my sons and they both are in college together.

Update: Roger, my son, has been accepted to John Hopkins to study Viral/Cell research. Basically, how to make and break viral 'factories' in the human body.

My Team:

My partner is Selena, but I sometimes call her Fred because that’s her middle name. She is younger than me (thirty-one) and the physical part of our team. She loves to get into hand to hand and she is pretty damage resistant.

Virgil is the longest running Elite with us. He has thought about coming on full-time, but so far, he hasn’t. Right now, he leads Crusader and Aguilar. The DeVries people don’t have any police powers unless a real police officer is present. Usually, they rotate through every six months.

Update: A while back, it was revealed that Selena had Telepathy. After the flak I went through with Precognition, she decided to keep it under her hat. Aguilar is leaving and no new replacement has been up to 'test' with us yet. Is DeVries up to something?

Otherwise, I am still a wimp. No mega-Dex. or Str. in my future either. Off to quantum six, as well.

Sydney Greenstreet was a computer programmer and avid visitor of Vegas. Unfortunatly, Greenstreet discovered that the safest bet is the one you fix. This led to the mob (my ST had some running around) ordering Greenstreet to hack into several banks and divert the money to their accounts. Getting caught cheating in a mafia run casino sucks. They sat him at a computer with a gun at his head. The stress was so great that he Erupted. Suddenly, the computer is doing what he whims it too and the wiseguys die horribly (Bioentropy Storm).

Greenstreet ends up working for Utopia until he decides that he wants fame and fortune. He creates a telecommunication device known as SydneyVision. It is a hologram projector that is used for entertainment and communication. In our game the Amp Room was destroyed so Greenstreet built a new club called . . . Greenstreet's. Catchy, ain't it?

His cousin is also a nova and is a financial prodigy. She created several companies that release technology invented by Greenstreet. Little did Greenstreet know that his cousin had plans for WORLD DOMINATION. Not really, but it sounds cool. She just wanted to change the world to her vision. She developed The Ministry. The Ministry is a group of mega-int novas trying to make the world a more efficient system (notice I did not say a better place). Greenstreet wants the world to be "relaxed and groovy" so is trying to guide The Ministry's goals to his dream when he is not trying to get laid or play a massive joke. The Ministry is made up of Sara Mulligan (Greenstreet's cousin), Sydney Greenstreet, Dr. Mallard (scary scientist and Teragen member), Madame Fury (mega-int 3 tactical prodigy -- do not make her mad), Dr. Thomas Godhand (medical prodigy, working on nova fetility and forcing eruptions), and Seraphim (ex-Team Tomorrow poster boy and all around goodguy, one of Greenstreet's best friends).

Right now Greenstreet is working on creating a colony in Alpha Centari called Pax Novus. Only novas without aberrations will be allowed to go and bring their baseline families if they wish. If Greenstreet can't change the world to "relaxed and groovy" than he will make one. He is also the world's greatest psychologist, which comes in handy when deciding who goes to the colony.

Name: Sydney Greenstreet
