Session 131 – "After meeting briefly with Nameless to determine the proper statements to make at the festival, the party spends some time assembling and preparing a formal gift for White Crane. Once the festival begins, Hermes leads the party in pledging support to White Crane, and observe as the leader of the Yagyu indirectly asks for Serekh and Ao Ping to be given to him."

Session 132 – "Artemis breaks off to track a suspicious individual, while the rest of the party mingles. After this, a brief discussion on ways to liven up celebrations ensues, before the party ends. Afterwards, the group changes into practical clothing, and further pursues the suspicious individual. . ."

Session 133 – "While Hermes hides nearby, Artemis and Quetzcoatl politely confront the musician. Rapidly revealed as a spy, the group nonetheless lets her go when it becomes apparent she isn’t Yagyu, and shows no sign of hostility. After returning, debriefing with Nameless, and beginning some research, the party deploys into White Crane’s territory, setting up a plan to seek out raiders via precognition. Finding a village that will be so struck, they ready to wait in ambush. . ."

Session 134- "The ambush is executed, but unfortunately fails to produce surprise. While Hermes is incapacitated briefly, ultimately the melee breaks down into each side inflicting debilitating effects on the other, until only Hermes and the gate making raider are still free. After Hermes knocks out the raider with his ultimate attack, the party calls in backup to take custody of the prisoners, and starts repairing the village. Total innocent bystander casualties: zero."

Session 135 – "After rebuilding the village, and spending a month on patrol, the party returns to Chengdu. There, they find that Ao Qin has let forth a horrid rumor about Ao Kuang, to justify unleashing an army of monstrosity on his brother’s territory. White Crane plans to stop him, and solicits suggestions from the party, much to Nameless’ dismay. Later, the party returns to their quarters to plan and rest, and Hermes speaks with Artemis for a bit."

Heh, glad its appreciated, but this isn't my game, or setting. Pendaran, an occasional poster, is the GM and setting designer. I'm, relatively speaking, a newbie GM, the only campaign I've run is a BESM supers game, Vanguard. Its fairly standard bronze age superheroics, if well done.

The Characters and Session Logs can be found here, if your curious.

Further commentary or questions about the dozens of sessions of Ancient Aberrant yet posted are still appreciated, though.

This is indeed the campaign I've been running for a few years now. It's been a lot of fun. There've been a few more sessions since the last posted that meta should be putting up, and he's taken up the insane task of also creating a reference database for every character that has shown up and been named so far.

Session 137 – "The party ponders numerous means to get out of the White Void. A minor experiment on Hermes’ part leads to the entire group being chased by distortion ghosts, though Artemis manages to carry the party along ahead of their pursuers."

Session 137b – "The party pursues various means of getting out of the White Void, resulting in a fairly lengthy telepathic conversation between Quetzlcoatl and his own future self. Eventually, the party decides to try throwing themselves through time towards the battle over the fate of the universe in the future. However, Quetzlcoatl’s first attempt fizzles ineffectively."

Note: technically two separate sessions. However, due to close continuity and the fact that they are only separate due to AIM interruption, I keep them together.

Session 138 – "Still chased by distortion ghosts, the second attempt Quetzlcoatl makes succeeds, and the party is cast into the future. Surviving a passage through near-utter dissolution, the party arrives before the battle has entered its full fury. While conflicted, Hermes has the team hide some distance away, and wait for the battle to end, before attempting to contact Rory Kincaid for assistance. After some uncomfortable conversation, Justinian Dragos sends a young Colin and his companion Bachiel to provide assistance. On talking with Colin, however, Hermes makes a horrifying realization about the nature of the universe."

Note: I hate AIM.

Session 139 – "Bachiel interrupts a half mad Hermes’ efforts to disrupt fate by knocking unconscious his companion, leaving the party to talk with him briefly ( and unhelpfully ). Colin returns the favor via time stopping, and in the time available, gives the party help finding a new and hopefully more useful temporal coordinate to send themselves. Conversation generally breaks down, and the party casts themselves through time again, this time, to the moon, circa the early 1980s. . . the fall of the last great age of heroism, and the victory of the Seven Thunders. Arriving halfway through the battle, the party decides to gamble on their ability to turn the tides, and change the course of the future."

Note: Yep, this is a biggy. One of the greatest forces of evil in all time, and us PCs are about to throw ourselves headfirst against it. Maybe, just maybe, we can take a few of them out. . .

Session 140 – "When the party sees Dr Seeker trap the Corruptor in a high tech metal sphere, they split up. Hermes rushes ahead to meet with Jon and Seeker, and finds Quetzlcoatl’s plan to time freeze the trap into immutability would probably not work. Meanwhile, Artemis and Quetzlcoatl follow along, healing the still-living amongst the falling, reviving four before a Cumberland clone attacks. Rejoining the others, Hermes batters the thing enormously, while Artemis tries to bear it down and Quetzlcoatl strikes its mind, yet it still stands. . ."

Note: despite the ominous description, things are actually going pretty well. The clone will probably fall first thing next session, and we've got a few tricks up our sleeves. . .

( like seeing what happens if you use Information Manipulation to fake orders to will-less clones :) )

Session 141 – "Eventually, the Cumberland clone falls, with the party and their new compatriots still alive. They rush into the battle further, while the party ultimately decides to scour the field for dying to save. Artemis exerts her power to the utmost, and actually heals everyone on the entire battlefield, turning the tide of the fight and drawing the Grey Man’s direct attention. However, David Dragos arrives shortly after the Corruptor freed himself, and proceeds to perform the most insane negotiation ever. Ultimately, the Seven allow the remaining heroes to leave into extradimensional banishment, which they reluctantly accept. . . and David is left mortal. The party, after Artemis asks a shocking question of Hermes, flees to Mars, instead, to arrange return to their own time."

Session 142 – "The party spends some time resting on Mars, and talking about what has just happened, before Artemis activates the time beacon David gave her. This draws to their location. . . Darius, from in between the times they met him. After much snarkiness, he ultimately takes everyone back home in exchange for the beacon. Once returned, the party reports their continued survival to White Crane, and returns once again to working upon the problem of Ao Qin’s monster army."

Session 145 – "The eve of battle arrives. Hermes delivers the armaments, while Nameless delivers an inspiring (?) speech to his army. Quetzlcoatl views the future, foreseeing some elements of a long, hard battle, but no clear usages of superweapons. On reporting everything to White Crane, the party takes its position on the lines of battle."

Session 149 – "Hermes finally finishes off his opponent, while Quetzlcoatl and Artemis continue devastating the enemy onrush. The battle continues, with Nameless’ battle plan progressing, while a giant creature battles the general himself. However, on noticing energy distortions around White Crane, the party acts to try and save her, a half second too late. Metal rings from the sky surround her, and a beam of spatial distortion attempts to drag her into space, in pieces. Hermes thus puts a desperate plan into effect, and tries to smash the focusing rings. . ."

Session 150 – "A great explosion ensues, leaving the approaching enemy forces blinded, White Crane near death lying in a crater of glass. . . and Hermes entirely vaporized. He proceeds to receive a visit from the Winter King, and they talk about various matters while they travel into the lands beyond death. Ultimately, Hermes challenges him to a race. Meanwhile, Artemis enters a near berserk state while Quetzlcoatl attempts to keep the near dead White Crane from being finished off. After successfully talking Artemis into a calmer state, he gates her to White Crane, where she heals her into a more stable state."

Session 151 – "While Artemis is stuck inside the force bubble an almost-unconscious White Crane erected, Quetzlcoatl engages in mental and physical sniping with the enemy Chosen, in an attempt to speed the end of the battle. And indeed, the battle concludes, with Ao Qin’s forces obliterated, and most of White Crane’s army dead. Ao Kuang arrives, to try and exploit this weakness. . . and then retreats, when his army refuses to march upon those who just sacrificed their lives to save their own home land. A tearful White Crane creates a monument to those who died on the field of battle."

Session 152 – "White Crane’s army ( what is left of it ) returns to their territory, to hunker down in the wake of the devastation. While doing so, Quetzlcoatl examines the site of the explosion, and more or less confirms Hermes’ death. Artemis and Quetzlcoatl return to Thera, to report this event to the Champion of Ra, who gives them a days leave before they must return to the Jade Empire. Quetzlcoatl catches up on the state of the Compact, while Artemis wanders through some of Hermes’ old rooms, and mourns. Later, after returning, Artemis speaks with White Crane a bit about loss."

Session 153 – "Assisting in what ways they may, Artemis and Quetzlcoatl are present at court when an envoy from Si Ma Yi arrives, and delivers an invitation to a grand diplomatic gathering in two weeks time at the capital. While White Crane requests their presence at the event, a new figure arrives: Mereneptah of Thera, sent by Xenos to reinforce the Theran contingent present. After making his introductions, he retires with Artemis and Quetzlcoatl to discuss the situation."
