Sakurako Hino
I think I'm about to be sick! First they auction off an artifact of Geryon's murderous rampage. Then they auction off autopsy records of the first Houston Tornado?!? Not to mention a peice of the Galatea?!? Damn them to hell. I hope their spirits and their ancestors haunt them to their graves![ 06-17-2002: Message edited by: Endeavor ]
Guest
You have a lot to learn about what makes the world go round little girl. Money is everything in this world unfortunately, and nothing loosens a tightwad's grip on his cash like the exploitation of another person's pain and misery. If it really bothers you that much, do something about it.
Sakurako Hino
Yeah, as if I could just BARGE on in and bust up the place. How primative.

Guest
There are more subtle ways of mucking with the auction if you put your mind to it Endeavor. For instance, all monetary transactions are going to be electronic. If you know how, you can make sure they never get through. Or how about intercepting the delivery of the auctioned items? Those are just two more of the most obvious choices and they don't involve jumping in and busting heads. If this auction is really that bothersome to you, I'm sure you can come up with something more creative and remember, there are probably others who think the same way about the whole thing. Find them and solicit there help, there is strength in numbers.
Jager
For all this and numerous other reasons not to mess with the auction, refer to the Elite thread. One, they will have security. While I have little doubt mainframe could muck up the e-bidding, I am not all that sure he could get away with it. MF, they have used Bug before to uncover such 'nastiness', so don't be arrogant.A physical altercation would be even dumber, as well as criminal. If we are going to break the law, lets at least be more constructive in our actions, okay?Granpappy Jager will now return to his rocker.
Sakurako Hino
Perhaps if I can get a protest set up outside the place they're having this auction, then maybe the press could have at these parasites. Unless this is an online auction, then the plan is FUBAR. There is something to be said about public relations.[ 06-17-2002: Message edited by: Endeavor ]

Guest
Why are they selling them? Because each of these items has been in touch with power and death. People will buy them because they wish to associate/be associated with the mythological power of these items. It's an old and deep instinct - the belief of sympathetic magic: that the power of these items will rub off onto the new owners. There's no accounting for class. I assumed (wrongly) that Sotheby's would be above this kind of sensationalism. However, that they are selling these pieces (some of extremely questionable taste) gives strength to the rumor that Sotheby's is once again in financial trouble. This controversy will generate business. It will be interesting watching Sotheby's answer the accusations. If it's a typical PR flack, then Sotheby's is fine. If they read a statement from the President/CEO, or if Ruprecht answers the accusations directly, then Sotheby's is in trouble.
Sakurako Hino
I still think the rubble involved in the Geryon incident should be sent to some shinto shrine here in Japan. So that we can give the spirits sent away from this earth can rest in peace. T2M as well should do the right thing and turn their artifacts over to the Japanese Government. As for the Houston Tornado's autopsy materials, Those should be archived for a criminal trial, not slobbered over by some snuff fanatic. (Not to say you are one, Vile Bill, I don't think you're capable of such things.) I don't see how these people can sleep well at night.

That amature couldn't hack his way out of a clear plastic bag!You see, the big problem with all these "my mind is one with the Opnet" types is that they convert their minds (and sometimes their bodies) into either energy or electronic data. Do you have any idea how easy it is to screw with someone in that state? Here's a hint, mention my name to Bug the next time you see him.As for the auction, I was only trying to tell Miss E that whining and complaining about it won't do anything constructive either. Perhaps I should have told her the most obvious solution. Buy the stuff that's got her panties in a bunch and then donate them to whoever she wants. Is that more socially palatable? Sakurako Hino
I wouldn't give those @$$-pirates my money. I did think of that, but those jerks don't DESERVE my money. I am sending $100,000 to a charity founded in the Houston Tornado's name though. That litle thing will set my free spending back a bit. Hopefully that charity could take on the autopsy thing.
