Guest
I want to be sort of informal here, so I've dropped the title of Dr. for now.I hope my daughter, Sakurako hasn't been a bother for you all. I've been trying to encourage her in as many ways possible. I think I'll let her discover her own way to do things, but I'm unsure if I should back off at this time. I'm suprised that I see a new facet to her with this "Lovely Nova Senshi" gimmick that she's developed, and hell, if she joins the XWF I won't really care. Hell, I'll root her on. But please, don't let her get hurt out here.Thank you for your time and patience.-Ms. Hitomi Hino.-Doctor of Engineering & Programming.
Teknokat
I wouldn't worry about it. Most of us here enjoy a little new blood every now and then.Tastes quite good on beef...Just kidding (although someone as smart as you could've figured that out). So, you're the famous Doctor Hino. I've been meaning to meet you at one of those ComSci conferences they have, but I can just never find the time (OK I lie - Most of the speakers there have serious public-speaking deficiency problems...)[ 06-13-2002: Message edited by: Teknokat ]
Jager
Actually, Doc, or would you prefer Mrs. Hitomi?Anyway, I'm just pleased to see that someone got a catipellar drive to work. Much of the work on magnetics gets ignored and I'm hoping more emphasis gets placed there.I am curious how you handled the fluctuations caused by nuetrinos in your polarization arrays? If that isn't a trade secret or anything? You did use Benzinger's equations, right? As for your daughter, I don't think you need to worry (as much). We actually have people fighting here to make sure nothing and no one harmful befalls her. If she wants trouble, she's going to have to go out and find it.Don't forget that she is only going to be this young once (we hope) and these times should be enjoyed for all the hope and promise they bring. Have a nice vacation.
Guest
Actually, I've managed to get my ship up to 50kts before neutrinos become a problem. I have figured out how to bleed them off with out using someone else's work. But always at about 50kts, the neutrinos begin heating the magnetic arrays that are part of the engine, and I have to reduce power or risk overheating the system.TK: I haven't been to that convention. It seems that every node spark with an IQ over 150 can get into that one. Most of it is just showing off their quantum and not having pure scientific fact backing them up. Quantum energy can't get you everywhere. That's why most of their projects fail. When they learn how to build things that a baselane can use, then talk to me.I'm sure you guys take up most of the trouble so that Sakurako can't find it. Violette 'V' D'Aronique
I know that I kinda poked fun at our resident Terats' (not certain if Wizard is a Terat, but a lot of what she says sounds like she might be) point-of-view on the Elites thread, but in all seriousness, do you think it's a good idea to encourage your daughter like this?Life isn't an anime, and despite Jager's claims to the contrary (we all remember what happened to Angel Teen, whom he and Avenger pledged to protect), I'm really afraid she's going to end up hurt.P.S. You actually named your daughter Sakura? You were a really big anime otaku before she was born, weren't you?
Guest
Actually, she made the coice of clothing. I obliged. Trust me, the front she's putting up here is just a ruse. Besides, I probably bet she's playing mind games with you guys and is taking advantage of the brew-ha-ha.As for her name, she was born during the blooming of the cherry blossoms in Japan, so I felt it was a sign.; and yes... I was a helpless otaku when I was younger. I'll admit it. But you should see little Endeavor's collection.
Guest
P.S.: I am trying to steer her away from the anime thing, but the more I push, the deeper she goes. I am genuinely concerned, but then again, she likes to AVOID trouble. The last fight we were in, she spent more time staying behind me than anyone. So trust me, I know most of what I'm doing. It's not easy being a Nova keeping watch on their Nova daughter.

Guest
So little miss "Lovely Nova" Learn your lesson? Yet again I have to belittle myself to keep you from completely shooting yourself in the foot. Just call yourself Endeavor for now, and try not to snap at me again?
Jager
V, big difference is that Endeavor is surrounded by security and two or three other novas are keeping an eye on her as well. Also, as far as I know, no known psychopath is stalking her.I know I screwed up on that one. No way around it. How it came down is something I am still dealing with.On the otherhand, she is going to High school and there is no protecting her from that. Better yet, she is going to be the 'new girl' in an all-girls nova academy.,,Are you implying that we should extract her for her own safety? We both know how school uniforms make school girls into vicious killers. Socially, anyway. As the comedian said, "Does it hurt?"The Reply, "Only when I laugh." Sakurako Hino
At least you have it easy, mom. You don't feel like a total tr011 right now. ; I'm sorry guys. I've been really jazzed up about my new powers and all. I guess too exuberant. *sigh*I'll try to be a little calmer from now on.Just give me my space and I'll do just fine.[ 06-13-2002: Message edited by: Endeavor ]
Guest
See, there's nothing wrong with taking a step back and looking at the big picture. Now, let's just take this conversation off line dear. I don't think our dirty laundry is for public perusal right now.
Violette 'V' D'Aronique
Did I read that correctly????? All-girls Nova academy????? I wasn't aware there were enough teen-eruptees to fill a school, much less a gender specific school.
Sakurako Hino
That's why I'm going. I'm checking it out if it's on the up and up.There are only 10 novas there, operating in a normal environment. Consider it the "gifted" class at a baseline school. All the novas there have international origins. I'm one of two Japanese students.[ 06-14-2002: Message edited by: Endeavor ]

Who is supporting it?Sorry to pepper you with questions, I'd simply use my normal connections to get the answers directly, however much of my system power is being taken up with trying to duplicate some of tech in a virtual environment and it's a bit more system intensive than I first thought. Never mind that however. An all Nova school. About time to be honest. Hope their at least doing a proper job of it.
Violette 'V' D'Aronique
Nonononono! This is not happening to me! I erupted on the day of my high school graduation, and now you're telling me there are academies for Nova girls???? Life is definitely not fair sometimes. Guest
Interesting. Is this school government-funded or private? ,,Quote: Are the instructor's Novas? What is the curriculum like? Who is supporting it?I'd like to second Mr. Meehan's request. Also a school like this would be an immense draw to a certain demographic on the N! entertainment channel. Why haven't they heard of it yet? Either the shcool has very good security or this is a very new institution. Why does it not surprise me that Japan is the nation doing this?If this is the real thing . . . then this could be an excellent opportunity for you, especially if there are nova instructors and areas set aside for honing your abilities. Quite interesting.Endeavor, and Ms. Hino, I think you have piqued the intrest of a lot of people. I expect the school's OpNet site to be rather heavily hit this coming week, and I believe that several influential novas will begin investigating that school. You've just put them under the spotlight.Just for a head start - what is the name of the institution?
Guest
Now, just before you think this is some "school for gifted nodesparks" you're WRONG. The "school" is actually a nationwide program. The 10 students involved all go to their "home" schools and periodically check in at a centralized location to review progress with a "counsellor" within nova society. It's called the Nippon Nova Education Enhancement Program. These 10 candidates come from all walks of life all over Japan and exchange students from all over the planet to test out this program. They're not trying to develop a "Teen Tommorrow" or some junk like that. If you have questions, talk to the education comissioner in Tokyo. The incentive of this program is a full scholarship to the college or university of their choice. If they so desire. And no, it's no longer a girls' only program. Hate to crush Sakura-Chan's hopes. Let's just hope my daughter dosen't start up a "superhero" club. That sort of thing will get her suspended for sure.
Sakurako Hino
heheh... sorry guys, got a little carried away. ;I guess that shoots to peices what little credibility I have left... Damn.
Guest
It's still an interesting concept that will bear watching. If this program is successful, it could have an impact on other industrial nations' education systems.Best of luck to you.
