Malckuss
Alrighty...I was on the Trinity Forum over at WWs site, and Chill said I should bring this thread here, too. BTW, the thread has the same name there, so feel free to stop there and read what was said earlier and the continuing discussion. Now, for those who might not know, Andrew Bates has confirmed that next year after the end of the current WoD, there will be new releases for the Aeon continuum, but as of yet, no details. Word has it, though, that the Powers that be are already trying to ship that project to Arthouse, where as we all know is where they send things to die. I don't know about you but I'm not gonna let my favorite RPG die twice. So instead of whining and bitching I am gonna do something about it, and anybody who wants to help can too. The idea is simple: Get new people into Aeon, by whatever means is nescessary. I have been running games for newbies here locally, I even gave out a copy of Abberant hardcover I found for $12 bucks away as swag at one. We need to garner more support for the game, for WW sees more support as more $. We need to get people interested in the game and tell them to empty WWs warehouse of all Aeon products so whatever warehouse monkey takes note can say"hey...we are running out of stuff...make more stuff" It was suggested we have a slogan, and a mantra, and try to get as many of the people who love this game together as possible. I postulate we call orselves the Aeon Society's League of Extaordinary Gamers: Hope Sacrifice Unity. Our mission is simple: Save Aeon. Feedback? SnakeEyes
I notice you've posted twice. Don't you hate it when that happens?Yes. More Web coverage would help... That reminds me, I really ought to use my geocities memberships...I don't want to see it die again either. Not now I'm really into it...We need ideas. Lots of ideas. and None should include the irony of Rocket Propelled Grenades! ::heheOk... Lets see... k. I'm out of ideas. For now. Other than web coverage, any other ideas?Slogan... how 'bout "Aegis of Aeon"? *gets ready to duck*EDIT--I'm a rather late bloomer on the RPG front (only been at it for about 1 and 1/2 years now...). This is because no-one (and I mean no-one) at my school or around my street played... I'd been looking for an excuse (and a ST) to play for years. But didn't get one until a short while ago (from across the atlantic. My DM, player, ST came from Brazil...). Maybe the same is happening everywhere?(An ST bus? Go around like a mobile library... No? Ok... I'll be serious) We don't need more players, we need more STs! There must be hundreds of people out there who simply haven't had anyone to break them into RPGs... Malckuss
Actually, you may think I've gone insane but I don't think the ST bus is a half-baked idea at all. It would have to be kinda limited to an area, but I think it could work if a few of us hit whatever local conventions and game shops that were, say, within like a 50 mile radius? Get on the web or grab a phone book and find all your local gaming stores and ask em if you could run a demo game. Better, make the webpage for the group look super-spiffy professional and let game stores have the addy, where they could request game demos by local ASLXGrs. I'm not advocating singular effort here...you probably wanna recruit your gaming buds...in fact they can help you show newbies the ropes, by setting examples of what can be done and what you should never do with a box of processed cheese, two geese, and a box of disposable hotpants(don't ask). ::unsure *mimicking Poo* think, think....think think think. Yes. We need a Website. And clowns. Ooooh!!!! And an Evil Overlord to hurl our mighty minions at so as to build moral in taking down Bill Gates Evil Plan!!!! It just! Might! Work! MWOOAHAHAHAHAHahahahahahaaaaa.....Ahem. We now return you to your regularly scheduled forum. ::blink
SnakeEyes
"Mr SakeEyes?""Yes?""We're from the local psychiatric hospital. We have a warrant for your incarceration due to your madness becoming strangely infectious. One individual has been infected already, and we intend to stop further spread. Would you like to go quietly, or kicking and screaming?""ooohh... kicking and screaming please!"*gets dragged of by two huge guards*"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! YOU FOOLS! YOU BLIND FOOLS!"Ahem... yes. You're right. an ST bus wasn't such a bad idea after all, now you've put it that way. A 50 mile radius is a nice range. 'Cept for the fact you can't be sure if you'll find anyone even remotely interested. I like advertising. Advertise for players in local newspapers. Advertise for STs. k. now I really am out of ideas. Obsidian Shade
i just infected my RPG group with the Aberrant virus. seems to me, there is no cure for them. hope i can taint their brains further ::devilangel
Nullifier
I've yet to meet a gamer who doesn't think the idea of Aberrant is cool. ::bigsmile Most of 'em are just too poor to want to invest in a book without a game to play in. ::crazy
Obsidian Shade
if it were easier to get the Corebook, one or two of my players would have it by now. they are crazy bastards like me ::rolleyes hopefully i can play Aberrant as a player someday (i don't like my job as ST, i'm a born player)
Nullifier
Not that I wanna give the Prof more work... ::halo ::lookaround ::wink But you might wanna check out the QZ and QZ - Elites threads if you wanna play Aberrant, and then PM the Prof with a character. Erm. At least, that's if he's still accepting new characters. It couldn't hurt to ask him, though, I suppose.

Malckuss
Hmmmm...Advertising. I kinda like it, but it also has the potential to be expensive...'course, if you just asked the local game store if you could put up fliers that might work. khj94
Again, this is a random idea for promoting the gameline. When I was playing in my last Mage game, I was so enthralled with the story the ST was telling that I started a journal. It was written only from my charcater's perspective. Numerous times my girl-friend has asked me to, at the very least, post the journal so others on the internet could read it. My question is this, could we do something like that here? Could we have an independent forum comprised of on-going games, written as a pulp serial? It could provide ideas for other gamers as to what the game line is like. And, I don't know how it works exactly, but wouldn't it also create more hits on a search engine. We could use the search engine as an advertising tool?KurtP.S. Have we given up on a advertising slogan?
Nullifier
Someone did that on here a while back, I think. Check any stuff about the Dynasty on EON... It's here somewhere, but it's been a while since I've looked at it. ::unsure At any rate, it's not a bad idea, but it'd take a substantial time investment on someone's part. Malckuss
Oh, Kurt, I feel that was a FABULOUS idea! wow, that sounded gay. Not that I have a problem w/ the gay community, but I'm not inclined that way...I digress. I really like that idea. And no, we haven't given up on the slogan...still pending
madcat82
You know what the strange thing is?? I have never met a player/ST who I have shared the knowledge of what Trinity is (or adventure/abberant) and hade a respons other than: I WANNT TO PLAY THAT, (to me:) STORYTELL THAT YOU BUNGELING MORON!!! (well, perhaps they did not scream it, or tell me it that way, but you get the ide...)Strange, I think, that WoD sells better...
khj94
Here, let me help get the ball rolling with some slogans.1. Aeon Prevails! (yes, this is someone's tag line)2. Got Trinity? (shameless rip-off)3. Ask me about the best RPG White Wolf ever produced.4. Want to feel "Inspired"?5. Aeon Trinity: SF never looked so good.Kurt

Pax's_Pimp
On the topic of them bringing back the Aeonverse line. I am well aware that I risk evoking the ire of this entire board with this comment but I almost don't want the line revived... *flinches awaiting the inevitable backlash* Here is my reasoning. I am well aware that they are bring back Bates, Baugh, and Blackwelder for this but my opinion is that the Aeonverse doesn't need anything else. When I first heard about it I thought YAY! and such but as I thought about it I realized that I don't think anything is missing right now. I think that if WW turns its attention to Aeonverse games only then the result be an over saturation of material and it will be all to easy for conversations to dissolve into arguments about which canon is better canon since there will eventually be contradictions. I dunno maybe I am just being paranoid but I can see the potential for the whole revival to have a bad influence on the games...-Pax's PimpP.S. Nullifier just a quick FYI I am actually one of those players who doesn't like Abberrant. So now you can say that you have met one matey. ::smokin

VictorHFrost KSC
see, i'm kinda with pax on that sentiment actually. though i think there are one, maybe two holes left in aberrant or trinity, anything past those (by which i mean the original run that never got finished) i'm not sure is really necessary. to clarify though, even given a revival i'm kinda doubting that white-wolf is going to really focus a lot of time and attention on aeon. to be frank the only reason i can fathom for them to start pushing aeon like they did, say, vampire is if this time of judgement thing tanks their sales completely and nobody picks up on their new setting. not that this isn't a possibility, but there are a lot of vamp fans out there that still think of the aeonverse as the redheaded stepchild of whitewolf. also on the aberrant note, also with pax, not to say that i haven't played aberrant and liked it, or that i don't utilize the system (because if anything i use it more now in my trinity games than i ever did before) but in general i'd rather play or run the other two.victor
Malckuss
*pulling myself out of the doggpile on Pax's Pimp* ::wacko boy, that was fun. IMHO, I beleive the only way the revival would be a bad thing is if Baugh, Bates and co WEREN't on the project. With them at the helm, we will not see another Mage fiasco. I will elaborate for those not familiar: Amidst WW's WoD:Revised strategem to inject new life into that gameline, the ripped the person who would put out the dreck of a book that Mage, revised was away from the place he was happy, a developer for Vampire. It was well known he HATED mage, yet they put him on the project thinking he would be more "detached" and fix what was wrong...It was the biggest POS I have ever read. ::angry If I ever get a chancve to meet him and the person who made the decsision to put him on the book in a dark alleyway, neither one of them will walk out. ::ninja I think that is what you fear will happen to the Aeonvers...I don't believe it will happen. Besides, you comment about contridictions, look at the contridictions that are already present, yet the game works just fine. I am involved in a large (8 people) Trinity era game that takes place after process 418: we have three novas, three psions, and two daredevils/specials. It rocks, and the only problem we have is which night can we all play on, and how do we get one player to stop making twinkie jokes. ::biggrin PS:I'm the guy with the Twinkie jokes
Nullifier
The only good thing they did in revised was what they did with the prime sphere. Just about everything else pissed me off. Especially the Avatar Storm, which basically makes one of the most versatile, interesting, and pivitol spheres almost useless. Bah I say to that. At any rate, I'm glad they're bringing the Aeonverse lines back anyhow, 'cause I doubt they could screw 'em up nearly as badly as that. Besides, I think WW did a really good job on the source material for all three lines, and I'd love to see more.

Malckuss
It has been suggested there might very well be a PG for Adventure, an ST book w/ more meat on the timeline and metaplot, and perhaps and EQ/Stuff manual for it since not alot of people new what was and wasn't commonly available during the time period. I can't exactly remember if it was Andrew or Bruce, but he stoped by the Forums at WW's website to let us know there was going to be new stuff for each of the three game lines, but that there wasn't anything concrete yet, and that w/ the whole ToJ thing going on, which is appearently eating up a TON of manpower, there really wouldn't be a statement made until that was nearly wrapped up. I am trying to speak w/ the Powers that Be at WW, trying to ascertain if our coarse of action is helping or not...if I get the green light we will soon have a flyer and perhaps some T-shirts to help w/ the cause. ::smile
notsoangrydave
i have to agree with victorhfrost and pax's pimp and others: i only want a couple more things for each line:Babel Dossier - the plot info linking up the three games, mostly on what happens to important players between timelines, and the evolution of the Aeon Society, as well as specifics on what happens to cause the great changes in the world.trinity: the other setting books - India (although i have high hopes for InUn), Africa, a book on aliens, and Aberrants in Exile.aberrant: mega books. i would like aberrant to get a rehaul, mostly to more properly scale powers. i was thinking of each level of power (1-10) having that quantum for minimum, plain and simple. claws - lvl 1, q-min 1. universe creation - lvl 10, q-min 10.adventure!: a super-science book, more knacks, and, well, with the Babel Dossier book, that's it.i think that would flesh each line out nicely.
