notsoangrydave
in my trinity game (which is still in solo mode), i'm recruiting a new player who wants to be from Nippon. i had originally wanted an all-psion game (if the characters so chose), but i may have him play a nihonjin superior, being from nippon.what issues might this bring up, with a game that spans a decent number of years?any thoughts, suggestions or ideas would be helpful.i'll probably reread parts of AsAs before replying. Finbar
The Top Three are: 1) His cybernetics against Electrokinesis: I would advise on making a ruling on this one ASAP. Basically, does the EK have to worry about the part's Failosafe rating or the character's Willpower? Also, will Vitakinesis ignore the parts, or treat them as foreign objects? Since I ruled that cybernetics were part of the noetic signature, I was "Willpower" and "no", respective, but your ruling may be different.2) As superiors can buy Merits with XP, how many points does it take to buy a Merit? I think I ended up ruling that it was 3xpoints (a one-shot purchase that's slightly better than an ability, but not as good as an equivalent dot in a psi-ability). Also, keep in mind those knacks....3) Also, don't forget that Nippon doesn't have the greatest of relations with the orders, Aeon, and several nations (including China and the FSA). That alone should make it interesting to be a superior....FR
notsoangrydave
Also, keep in mind those knacks....actually, i'm going to either give him merits or knacks - the merits are just a way to simulate the advantages that knacks confer, in my opinion.3) Also, don't forget that Nippon doesn't have the greatest of relations with the orders, Aeon, and several nations (including China and the FSA). That alone should make it interesting to be a superior....this was, to be perfectly honest, the kind of response i was hoping for. i do appreciate your input as far as systems go, but what i really wanted were ideas for the story and interaction parts of the game, which, so far, have been far more common than any rulings.oh, and thanks for the input. Finbar
No sweat....BTW, we picked up our superior when the Nipponese colony came under attack by some abbies, and the character was a major in the local force. It helped that one of the other characters had an interest in hard tech...It just got interesting when our teleporter (with his bioVARG) kept having to get permission to use his bioVARG...FR
Sprocket
One thing you might consider is that the Superior will likely have standing orders from his or her bosses not to use any special abilities in front of the psions that couldn't be explained away by cyborg implants. Looking over Asia Ascendant, it seems clear that while the Aeon Council knows the Nihonjin Superiors for what they really are, the government of Nihon isn't eager to let the cat out of the bag to anyone else if they can help it. ::ninja
