Captether
This is an idea that I have been kicking around for awhile. I have always been a fan of the "full-conversion" cyborg idea, especially in an environment such as Trinity's. The super soldier programs mentioned in Aurira Australius (spelling?) seemed to be a good way to bring in 'borgs'.CyborgThe pursuit to develop super soldiers to both help combat the aberrant threat and to compete with those governments with psion agents, has been an avid concern for many governments. One avenue of development popular in the FSA and Russia is the Cyborg. The process involves removing a subjects brain, internal organs and many nerves (typically taken from disabled combat vets or subjects whose bodies were destroyed by aberrant attacks and/or taint disease) and “wired” into a robot body. The robot body is very similar in internal design to many VARG though it is the size of a large/tall human, resembling a bulky “chromed” human (sex is usually indeterminate – players perogative). The body is designed to be very adaptable. The borg body has the equivalent of the Implant Radio, and a built-in computer allowing the character to access the Opnet at will. This computer has a fail-safe of 7 and a Performance of 5, and can hold up to 30 points of Abilities, none of which can exceed a skill level of four. Because this computer is connected directly to the user's brain, the user is at -1 Difficulty (minimum of 0) for all rolls involving computer use (including hacking). The borg is completely sealed from vacuum and hostile environments. The subject becomes an “extra” in regards to health levels (all damage being considered lethal as well) and cannot survive outside of her new body. The characters Strength is replaced with the ‘borgs’ strength effect, she uses her Wits instead of Dexterity, and Pilot (BORG) instead of Athletics (Borgs can use Martial Arts). Otherwise the characters new body acts the same as the original through full emersion VR interface. As with a VARG, a borg uses Vehicle Structural Levels rather than Health Levels and is only vulnerable to Lethal Damage.VT: CyborgTech: [Hard]CS: 40/km/hTS: 80 km/hrHandling: +2Mass: 0.27Cost: Restricted (available as a 5 dot Device, with 5 dot FSA or Russian Backing)Armor: 2 [5]Weapons: Any held weapon.Strength Effect: 4d10 [2]LSensor Bonus: 2 (IR and UV)Life Support: 2 days (this represents how long the suit can support its “pilot” with stored nutrients as well as how much stored oxygen and power the borg has).Note: It is very unlikely that psion characters would be used to create a cyborg. This is largely because of the rarety of psions who would have the clearance necessary in the FSA or Russia.,,Cyborg OptionsTypically, a cyborg body can accept any upgrade available to a scout VARG except for weapons. Bio-mechanical Appearance: The borg has been integrated with force-grown tissue and remodeling of its chassis, these alterations and additions make the borg physically identical to a human. Tech: [Hard], Cost: 6 dots.‘Jump’ Jets: A series of mini-thrusters housed on the cyborgs legs and back (as well as reinforcement of various stress points in the borgs body) and small directional fins, allow the cyborg to “leap” great distances, and move quite quickly with a series of controlled leaps. Tech: [Hard], CS: 150 (mini-leaps), TS: 250 (big Jumps), VS: 1, Handling: 0, Mass: 10kg Cost: 5 dots (refueling costs 2 dots).
Finbar
Looks good, especially differentiating between the subject and the body. For further inspiration, have you checked out the AsAs rules? It may not be a full-conversion borg, but....Also, as far as straight super-soldiers go, check out my Spartan posting in the Greeks in Space thread...FR
Sprocket
What you came up with does look good, Captether. ::cool For a game that supposedly reflects the Earth of the 22nd Century, too little has been done to clue us in on how pervasive cyborg technology may be in that setting. It may be fairly common in Nippon, but what about the rest of human-occupied space? Are cybernetics/bionics more complex than simple corrective implants limited to the uber-wealthy and/or well-connected, or can some dedicated technologists manage to manufacture (if not outright invent) these devices without a patron to finance his/her efforts? ::confused And yes, I realize that no one's going to be performing full-body cyborg conversions in their garage... unless you like the possibility of having a "Cat-Girl Nuku Nuku" scenario popping up in one's Trinity campaign! ::hehe

Sprocket
::blink Well, I suppose it couldn't be worse than having a multi-million dollar full-conversion combat cyborg chasing after mice and getting bombed out of her mind on catnip gas... ::heheBTW, welcome to Eon, Captether! ::smiley5
Ayre el KaBeer
and is only vulnerable to Lethal DamageThe Borg outdoes a VARG then, all vehicles are susceptible to bashing damage, it's just unlikely the bashing is going to take them out without alot of work. SnakeEyes
have you had a look at the World of Darkness- Mage The Ascension rules for cyborgs? I only have the info from the core rule book, but I'm sure they'll be more on the web. Those rules might help.Other than that...me likey!
Sprocket
Hey there, SnakeEyes!- ::smiley5 Yeah, I've seen the MAGE rules for cyborg technology- they're fairly neat, but the flavor of the tech doesn't mesh very well with Trinity. In keeping with the problems of WoD hypertech in general, technocracy (and tradition) cyborg tech tends to be somewhat less than reliable due to Paradox. If ordinary (if wealthy) citizens are using this stuff in their everyday lives, you can bet that many bugs will have been worked out prior to their relase into the marketplace. But hey, at least we have the rules and gizmos from _Asia Ascendant_ to help us out! ::laugh
