Drain-based power

My brain has formulated an idealing (it's a smaller kind of idea, Lester*) in regards to running powers in the Aeonverse.

Cutting all the fancy words, I'm looking for a way to integrate Shadowrun's Drain-based magic system into the Trinity games as an additional option on power usage.

Anyone ever try something along these lines before? Got any ideas on how it might be accomplished?

It's been a while since I played Shadowrun, so I hope I can remember some, at least... ::lookaround

Basically, have a power do a base bashing damage of (level+rating)d10. This can only be soaked by the character's quantum. Thus, a Q-Bolt 5 from a character with Q6 would do ((2+5)-6)=(7-6)=1d10 levels bashing. Thus a smart ::rolleyes would keep his powers to a manageable level, and Mega-Sta would have no effect on the drain itself, thus effectively negating it.

Another option would be take it from the quantum pool, so instead of bashing levels it drains QP. However, this option is only if you want people to last a long, long time.

And another option would be to allow a person to shunt the drain straight to Temp. Taint, if desired, thus creating a definite need for Dormancy and Chrysalis...
