Has anyone included Divis Mal in their Trinity-campaign, and in that case - how?

I'm thinking about including him, probably like the force behind Eden, but I'm not sure how I should do it. I am trying to tie him in with the rest of the campaign, as the "power behind the throne" - maybe even collaborating with someone (in this case, probably Otha Herzog) to bring about a great change to the universe. What do people think?

Is there any information about what Mal does after he leaves Earth, or that is something that has been totally left out for speculation?

I think that offically Mal went off to "Mal-land" where life is beautiful all the time. I've never really liked this idea, but that's waht they say. I've never used him in any of my games, but I've always felt like he should come back for one final hurah with Max.

As far as his being behind Eden, or working with Otha, I don't know that I'd take that road, but hey, it's your game

Concerning Max - I would love to include him in my games, but I can't find any tangible information about him (except a passing reference in Player's Guide, IIRC). I know - it's my game, I can do what I like with him, but I would love to have more information about what he is doing and why.

My plan for Divis was for him and Otha to work towards a final catalyst - the final battle between Aberrants and humanity. I'm planning for my campaign to end with the destruction of Eden, and a host of Aberrants rising to end the war once and for all (the campaign would not include this final battle - i'm planning an Aberrant-campaign and an Adventure!-campaign before ending the entire thing). If I could fit Max in there somewhere it would be great.

Help? Point me towards information about Max, please. ::confused

Phoenix - he is, as far as i can tell, the resident wise old man. But I changed my plans quite a bit - if you check out my "alternate subplot"-posting, you can see how I ended up.

I don't like the idea of Divis Mal being evil. I don't want to use him as a great archenemy of the players, but so distanced from the rest of the world and humanity that his true goals are hard to understand.

Man, I hope datsun doesn't read this.... ::rolleyes

Actually, somethings to consider re: Mal are 1) the guy is "invisible" to normal scans re: taint, and that 2) he has, by 2008, undergone three distnct identies, each one testing the limits of his abilities and pushing those of others. Basically, if you look at Mercer as being the father figure, Mal is the trickster...

Instead of doing the obvious, and putting Mal in as a heavyweight, why not have him show up on Eden as some sort of human companion to a well-known nova, possibly even Scripture (if he's still around), ideally just after the heroes have failed big at something. Then, he interacts with the players on a one-to-one level, and gets them to re-try it, succeeding this time. Afterwards, you can deal with the "Was that---?" reaction.

Another is to have him push the characters into something, have them worry about it, then prevail. They then find out that Mal wanted to see if they could do it, and how well. I mean, wouldn't you be curious as to how powerful someone is when they are pushed to it? And, with Mal, you know it's going to be hard if it's a test, even if it's just across the street.... ::wink

I just don't like the idea of Mal being behind Eden. They left right as the War was breaking out, not at the end. They were the hippies that fled to Canada to escape the draft, or back draft as the case may have been. I guess for me the logic just doesn't follow.

I've thought about Mal as a character for a while, but I always fall short of being able to put my thoughts into words. I think that this is in part to the almost conflicting images of him we are given.

I like to keep mal in the vein of his Primoris incarnation. Driven for perfection, like Magneto on speed. I don't think he ever does anything for malicious reasons (tho that puts his character at odds with his name). He wants prefection in himself and humanity. I see him as actually getting real angry with the more anarchistic Terragen memebers ( I think that's who he'd really turn on in teh night of long knives).

I figure he's looking for the path to elevate all of humanity to the "enlightened" level he and other novas have reached. But, when the Aberrant War comes he is forced to realize that he even his more evolved bretheren don't live up to his high ideals. I know that this is kindof at odds with the your legacy speech, but I say somewhere where someone had the idea that, that message was ment specificlly for Max...I kind of like that idea.

Anyway, I almost see Mal's return as one of the Earth's protector. Teh only problems here are that A) cannon intended to write him out, and B) he's so over powered he'd be too much of a scene stealer.

I also like the idea of some sort of final confrontation between Max and Primoris, though I cna never decide how this should play out with in the meta plot.
