Trinity Universe: Unexplored Frontiers, Dr A's new game!

Here's the plot background.

Atlantis exploration, a firm that specializes in space exploration and technology, is starting a project to deploy survey drones on several planets and moons in the solar system for mining surveying purposes. The ship that will be transporting them will have approximately 30 people aboard.

The characters are aboard this ship and are assisting in the mission.

Here are the requirements for participation.

1. you must be able to post at least 2 times a week. I prefer more but I'll probably be lenient depending on how things work out.

2. Your character should be made using the rules from the core book. If you want to use something else, I need to be told ahead of time AND I need to know what the rules concerning the additions are.

3. Help me out. I've never done a Trinity game before so give me a break if things don't work out.

4. Maybe more if I think of something :-)

Right now I need

a 1-paragraph (more or less is ok) description of the character you're thinking of using. I don't need a bunch of details yet so give yourself some time to make them.

I'd prefer if your characters are independent, mostly because of the flexibility it gives me. Also, I don't plan on having a big emphasis on Psi-Powers.

So far we have

Asbjørn- a clear

Phoenix- a Norça

ezekiel - a neutral (how many extra bonus points does everyone think will make up for lack of psi-powers?)

harlequin- upeo/clear (still waiting for info on the upeo)

And that's it so far. This is enough people for me to get the game going. I can handle a few more but if no one else posts that they might be interested by... Wednesday, I'll start final stages of preparation.

There will be opportunites for more people to join in later.

I also have a clarification on my policies regarding backgrounds and equipment. A piece of equipment does not need to be a device if it is reasonable for an average person having the other backgrounds the same.

Example: an enhanced agent would be a 1 point device normally. But if you had high resources or a hight status in Orgotek, it would not be neccesary to spend the point.

Let's see some character sheets. I'm really looking foward to seeing them. if you have ANY questions let me know.

ezekiel - a neutral (how many extra bonus points does everyone think will make up for lack of psi-powers?)

The Players Guide suggests the following:

Attributes: 6/4/3

Abilities: 12(ability group)/15(others) - can go up to 4

Advantages: Psi 1, Willpower 3

Bonus Points: 21

I think that everyone who wants to participate has contacted me. The only person who I am waiting for a character sheet is Harlequin.

By the way, if, once the story gets going, one of you has an idea for the story, let me know. I'll even give a experience point or two if it's good.

I'm going to start another message thread. use this thread for OOC and the new one for IC only.

Once I get Harlequins sheet I think we'll be in business.

Well, Here's the RULES for everone. IC only on the other board. OOC is ok here. I'm using the Trinity Core + Asia Ascendant info

Rules: mostly by the book.

Disclaimer. I've never ST'd a Trinity story so if I completely violate any of these guidelines you've been forewarned.

Any questions.

By now everyone should have recieved a PM from me except for Harlequin, As soon as I get a character sheet you will get one too.

Also, I'm bad at making up names. If they all start to sound alike or if I mix them up, let me know.

Umm, I really don't know about the ship. I've been trying to figure out the following:

1. What should the ship look like and what features does it need?

The only thing really special about the ship is that it has a good amount of non mainstream equipment being that they are a technology firm (custom AI, custom high acceleration engines...)

2. How many people need to be aboard?

3. How long should the trip take?

There are 5 moons that need to be surveyed. They are

Phobos (Mars), Callisto (Jupiter), Titan (Saturn), Oberon (Uranus), Proteus (Neptune). The ones that are further out don't need to be visited directly as a probe can be shot to intercept the orbit. I think that an eliptical path from Earth to Jupiter and back would be a good plan.

I'm offering experience points for each of these. If you're interested let me know

if no one wants to design the ship then:

The ship looks like the one in the middle of the page on the cover of Trinity. There are 30-50 people on board. The mission will take 3 months at the most.

These are all totally arbitrary numbers that are independent of the constraints of reality.

I'm really busy figuring out other aspects of the plot and I figured that most of you probably have creativity to spare.

I have a remark: an elliptical path wouldn't neccessarily take us past all the proposed moons. See, the planets aren't ever in a straight line, such as they are usually seen on pictures of the solar system. While Mars is close enough to the Earth for a short trip, Jupiter may well be on the other side of the sun.  So an ellipse may not cut it.

Actually, though, that could be a good plot hook to have the group waiting around on a planet longer than expected: we have to wait for Neptune (or Mars or whatever) to close in on whatever planet we're on.

My two cents.

4-5 months? More? Less? Dunno...

I was thinking of a ship like in the first Alien...a tug pulling a km wide, not aerodynamic at all, freighter full of equipment...the ship itself is quite small though. Course it all depends on scale...ship in 2001 is pretty good too. Depends if you're going for a gritty, we live in a sub, feel or light Star Trek TNG Enterprise feel.

30 people is good.

Great input. I think that halfway between the alien ship and the 2001 ship would be a nice balance. Not too cramped but still lots of places to hide things. There only thing is that the ship has some non essential additions to make it more appealing to the eye. The Atlantis people expected to get at least a little media attention and want the ship to look good.

OK, so basically it's a pretty sexy vessel from the outside, and has above average crew quarters and control rooms. But there might be more than a few narrow crawlways and claustrophobic cargo areas in places not available to the media...

We're talking about a freighter, right? No atmosphere flying, and docking at orbital stations only? In that case we need some info on the shuttle(s) too.

Sounds great. There are 2 sub ships. 1 cargo shuttle that is capable of making planetside landings. there is also a fighter that is designed to make attacks by abberants a little more tricky.

The cargo shuttle must be large enough that it can hold 3 or 4 important characters if the main craft infested with little aliens that pop out of people's chests. ::rolleyes

I think that the best thing for me to do is make a list of important rooms that action will take place in:

Engine room

Cockpit

Mess Hall

Barracks

Cargo bays (for the probes)

Meeting room

Security office

(maybe more later)

Do you need more info?

:D But then what are the chances of that, huh?

I have a few questions. So far, all of our job descriptions start with "head". Does this mean that we have underlings to abuse? ::devil

Also, where exactly are we as of the beginning of the storyline?

  • 1 month later...

Depends. I haven't seen hide nor hair of Dr. Arbitrary in a good long time, and I know he was planning on ending the story by January 20th. I think the game might've had it.

On the offchance that it does go back up, I think he was looking for another character..

Sorry everyone!

due to bad planning and the threads going down I ended up unable to access the internet for about two months!! (Jan 28-Apr 5) I apologize for this error on my behalf, I was planning on wrapping things up by the 28th.

If everyone is still interested in continuing I'll try to continue the story.
