Aberrant: Infinite Earth - Infinite Earth: Setting Info and Rules

Infinite Earth Setting Premise:

On every alternate Earth there is a permanent gateway where anyone can step through to one of the infinite possible versions of Earth.

Baselines can only move through to Earth's so very nearly exact that the traveler cannot tell the difference.

Through concentration and an effort of will Nova's and Psions can move to more distant alternate realities. These realities are still very similar to the one they originated from but with some noticeable differences.

Nova's with Cross Time Travel will find that their ability is greatly amplified allowing them to travel to very distant possible Earth's where vast changes have occurred even to the point of seeming to be fantasy worlds.

This gateway is located in Stonehenge. The gateway itself isn't physical, Stonehenge was simply created in the spot where the gateway exists because the ancient people recognized it as a special place.

Those with CTT can also (with enough successes) open a warp to the alternate Earth's instead of merely shifting themselves and what they can attune.

Some nova travellers have begun to realize that at some time (or times) in the past the gateway must have opened to allow traffic through more easily. Every Earth has stories, legends and myths about gods, wizards, monsters, elves, dwarves, magic, etc. These beings exist on the alternate Earths and the stories bear a striking resemblence to the reality leading the travellers to believe there must have been an exchange of peoples at some time.

It is even possible that the gateway opens periodically at intervals of approximately every 1000 years.

Current Earths:

1) Terra:

Date: 2011

Terra is on an Earth in which she is a major player within the Tergen movement. Currently that is the only way in which that Earth has diverged from Canon.

2) Elspeth:

Date: 2030

Elspeth is on a Canon Earth in the year 2026. There are no ways in which her Earth currently diverges from canon. Elspeth is currently hopping between universes exploring the diversity of the possible Earths. Her nation is being governed by a permanent clone of herself.

3) Earth Prime:

Date: 2011

Sonja, Daniel, Asche, Charlie Cole and Joe Smith all occupy Earth Prime. It is a straight canon world set in 2011.

4) Earth WarJournal:

Sgt. Lorelai Yevtushenko occupies this Earth, it is set during the height of the Aberrant war.

5) Nova House Earth:

Date: 2011

Nova Houses, both legal and informal groups, dominate the world, many holding political power, others economically or what ever means they use.

Project Utopia does not exist at all, nor does Proteus or the Teragen for that matter.

The Directive does exist in a similar fashion to the canon one, except it is weaker, the only real resistance to nova domination, and is more open to the novas who do side with it.

There are no third generation novas as we know it. Furthermore 2nd generation novas are born human and must erupt as their progenitors did, but the process is adeptly and easily controlled by the Houses. The young eruptees do tend to boast higher power levels compared to their parents, and reduced maximum taint levels, but they have no Apotheosis.

6) Britannia Earth

Date: 2011

The Teragen only have the Marvel and Portents, lead by Orzaiz from Mal's notes after his death.

Project Utopia does not exist at all, nor does Proteus or the UN for that matter. The world government is the British Empire.

The Ministry of Powers is the most world-spanning organization on Brittania Earth. It's 20,000 strong Nova cadre handles everything from citizen security to massive engineering projects.

7) Warworld Earth

Date: 2029

*Aberrant War broke out in 2018 under pressure from a more millitant Terragen and a more expanded revelation of the sterility plot

*Death of Director Thetis at the hands of a band of Novas in 2020

*May or may not be a smoking Max Maxesque hellscape by now

8) Stagnation Earth

Date: 2011

Due to the effects of a 'device' most of the Earth was held in a state where creativity and progress was arrested, except for England and it's colonies. For more than 100 years this continued with England eventually conquering the world. As more nations were brought under British rule the device was put under a greater strain until it finally exploded releasing a massive wave of chaos across the world.

* 20 percent of the population erupted as novas, 50 percent died instantly, and another 20 percent partially erupted gaining one or two powers but without the ability to gain more or accrue taint. The remaining population were baselines who were assumed to have non-visible abilities, even the animals changed.

Creation Rules:

Q6 max starting Quantum.

Higher quantum can be purchased as experience is earned.

Starting Nova Points: 100

Characters may be considered for higher than 100NP starting, but will require Mod approval, and if it significantly goes over 100NPs it will require approval of a majority of the current players.

Second and Third Gen novas are permitted without restriction.

You may use the Strengths and weakness, however, as with all characters submissions, I do reserve the right to veto anything that I do not feel works.

It is not necessary to post your characters publicly, but you must submit characters to me for approval before you are allowed to join the game.

Thread Rules:

• Any world thread can set specific rules that apply within that world alone. See Cosmos Nova universe for an example.
  
• No character can join someone else's thread/setting without their permission (or the group's permission if it is a group thread).
  
• You must abide by the rules set forth within that thread/setting.
  
• If you create a character with rules set up for a specific thread that differ from the general Infinite Earth rules, then you require permission from the thread creators of the new thread you wish to travel to, or permission from the IE moderator (Mr Fox), before jumping out into the main IE game setting. This is because some rules may be very different from the IE general creation rules. Cosmos Nova for example uses an alternate set of rules that would make interaction between 'normal' IE characters and CN characters to be potentially difficult.
  
  
  Experience awards:
  
  25 XP per month of participation.
  5 XP per completed story of upto 10,000 words
  15 xp per completed story between 10k and 20k words
  30 xp per completed story between 20k and 30k words
  45 xp per completed story between 30k and 40k words
  etc.
  
  Note: The xp awards for word counts are for your contribution to the thread, not the overall word count from all authors in the thread. In other words, take your posts from the thread and drop them into Word or other program in order to derive an accurate word count.
  
  
  Special gifts of XP:
  • Each July 1st everyone receives 25xp in honor of the games anniversary.
    
  • Birthday gift - on your birthday each year you may take 25xp
    
  • 2010 holiday season those in the game at that time were gifted with 25xp.
    
  • Writers can be nominated for bonus XP for any reason, but this requires the agreement of the majority of the players in the setting (or lack of any objections).
    

  It is up to you to track your XP. Either in your character's Profile thread or via a running PM to me, however you choose do it, please track your XP awards and expenditures

  Character Profiles:

  Please post a [Character Profile]: Name thread that includes a brief description of your character and their background like you would in any game.

  However, Please also include the following:

  Date: Make this the basic year that your character is based in. This is important for example: Elspeth is in the year 2026 and Terra is in 2010, therefore they can't interact unless something occurs to bring them together in a common timeline.

  Timeline: Give basic info on what timeline your character is in. Ie, is this a regular Canon world? What is different from canon? It would be important for people to know for instance that in your timeline, Divis Mal was killed by a coalition of T2M and Elites hired by the UN.

  Please keep this up to date since things change over time as a result of fics that you participate in or due to changes occurring in the timeline. This will help both me as the Mod/ST and other players who might wish to interact with you.

  Important events: Like the timeline, please make a bullet point list of important events in your character's history so that others wishing to interact with you will have a decent understanding of who your character is and what they have experienced. This is especially important since this is a multiverse game in which each character is capable of experiencing completely different histories.

  Example: (Elspeth)

  Keeping this up to date will help others who might want to interact with you to know what plots you have open and what is complete. It will also help me to assist you better.
