Name: Sandra Murphy, a.k.a. Andi

Alias: Gloom

Appearance: When not combined with Darkness or when suppressing the extra-dimensional creature, Andi is a hard-looking woman in her late twenties. She has strawberry blond hair and green eyes; her Nordic heritage is softened with other European features. She tends toward casual clothes when off-duty, and most people wouldn’t guess that the young woman is a Knight.

Since her merge with Darkness, there have been some changes. Her skin has taken on a shadowed tone, even when standing in full light. Her hair is black and falls straight in an almost listless manner. Her eyes are now black, with no differentiation between her pupil and iris. Most shocking is her second set of arm, connect just below her first. Darkness’ species is a six-limbed race, and this is another sign of Darkness’ presence within Andi.

Personality: Andi has always been a little dour, but that’s not unusual in the Order’s oppressed world. Her tenure in the Knights has brought forth a bit more of the bully in her but she’s still a basically good person. Her loyalty to those she’s granted it to is unquestionable, and since she has seen the evil of the Order, her former loyalty to them has been turned on its head.

Background: Andi grew up in Seattle, having a mostly normal life. The only note that marked her life as different was the hostage situation. Her mother and her were robbed at home and taken hostage along with several neighbors. The Knights rescued them; all Andi really remembers is the moment when the Knights arrived, bursting into the room. From that moment on, she was entranced by them.

It was a natural choice for her to go into the Knights’ Academy, and she excelled in her classes. After her graduation, she was put on a street beat. Her career with the Knights was stellar, but not too stellar. She heeded the advice of her mentor who told her the way to succeed was to not stand out; the wily old veteran knew what happened to Knights who were too good at their jobs. In the Order’s regime, it was never good to excel or catch someone’s eye.

Being a Knight wasn’t what Andi expected. The Academy had been full of the rhetoric and honor of what they were doing, but the reality was more about beating up old women and terrorizing the citizenry. This wasn’t what she had wanted, but she wasn’t sure how to leave it. The dream of being the stalwart defender wouldn’t leave her, no matter how much the Knights tried to beat it out of her.
