Aberrant: Stargate Universe - Girl's Night Out

Olivia wanted to hide herself away. She wanted to never talk about this night again, or have to think about it. But that too-smart part of her that didn't stop thinking was telling her that her tear-stained face and torn shirt would make a great impact on the military men. "We have to report," she murmured, even as she cringed at the thought. But another idea came to her. "Let's tell Cam," she whispered. "He'll help us."

With a sigh, Aradia started to lead her up the hall, toward the elevators. At this time of night, most people wouldn't be up, but Cam was one of those specialists who needed little sleep. There was no hesitation as Aradia, still with one arm around Livy, reached up to tap on the door. After a muffled, "Come in," the four women entered the room.

Three of them looked angry, while Olivia was huddled against Aradia, her face hidden against her shoulder. She was holding her jacket tightly closed, and Cam could tell she was shaking.

Cam's protective instinct flared to instant white hot flames. Something bad had happened and it had happened to his people. Not too bad, he didn't see any physical trauma, but judging just on the sight of Livy it must have been harsh. He knew from her files and from talking to Damien that she had some history and after the whole Hatchin's thing he could guess that someone had assaulted the brainy specialist.

"Come in. Is everyone alright? Physically I mean... should I summon doc Frasier... but no Yseult could handle that." He ushered the angry women into his quarters. He gestured to the couch and chairs. "Please have a seat and tell me what happened." He sat in a chair opposite the couch so as not to be standing above them.

While Aradia sat down on the couch with Olivia beside her, Yseult stayed standing, pacing, rubbing her shoulders. Her hyper-active mind spun out scenario after scenario of what their actions could portend, well aware that there were getting ever more unlikely, but unable to stop.

"Physically... no, we are quite alright... The others however..." Yseult began. She sat down, crossing her legs, then crossing them the other way, before continuing. "The girls, we were having a night out, yes? At the bar, all was well, until Olivie, she was going to the salle de- the bathroom." Yseult paused, looking at the distressed, dark-skinned woman with sympathy.

"En route, she is being... accosted by a group of men. The actions we took in her defense, they are being precipitous, perhaps. Two of the men, they are suffering injuries of a severe nature, that I was being able to mitigate. One received a broken nose, and another was inflicted with some manner of mental trauma. Evidence of paranormal abilities, they may have been noted, though Kyria, she was trying to suppress that."

Cam looked over to Kyria, "Good thinking." He looked over the ladies not in disapproval but in understanding. "Tell me all about it in detail please. I'll have to take this to the general, but we'll do what we can."

After hearing the full story from each of the ladies as much as they were able or willing to share at least, he thought he had a good idea of what had happened. "You all can take Livy back to her quarters and see that she gets some rest. I'll take this to the General and we'll see what the fallout from this will be."

"No," Olivia said softly. "Please, I was supposed to go see Vinny after we were done, at his apartment. I know it's a long drive back to town, but could someone please take me there?" She looked at her friends, her eyes pleading. "I know it's a long drive..."

Olivia realized she was repeating herself and stopped. Her shivering had stilled, but she still clutched her top closed with white knuckles. No one would question that she was still very rattled.

Yseult shared a looked with the two other women, giving them a barely perceptible nod, then stood up and stepped to Olivia's side to give her heartfelt, one-armed hug and a consoling squeeze on shoulder. She didn't see what Olivia saw in Vinny, but she could understand the feeling of not wanting to be alone.

"It is not so far as that." With gentle urging from both her and Aradia on her other side, they got Olivia to her feet and began leading her to the motorpool once more. "Come, it is no trouble, Olivie."

Though she wanted to show her support for Olivia too, Kyria thought the other two women were sufficient. She sent Olivia a reassuring thought, then went to find Dec. She wanted to speak with him, see what he thought.

At Olivia's side, Aradia was quivering with her barely suppressed fury. When they made it back to the blue Jaguar, she tersely handed the keys to Yseult. "Here. You drive, I'm too... You drive. I'll sit with Olivia, okay Yse?"

"Of course, I am understanding." Yseult gave Olivia another sympathetic pat on the arm, then slid behind wheel while Aradia settled Olivia in the back. She glanced in the rearview, seeing Aradia hug Olivia to her shoulder and when Aradia gave her nod, the blond doctor put the sports car in gear and headed back to Colorado Springs.

Listening to Olivia's murmured directions, Yseult drove with a controlled speed, wanting to accede to dusky librarian's request without seeming frantic. Though admittedly, the Jaguar was a far more powerful car than she was used to and she found herself going faster than she intended.

In a drive that somehow felt both too long and too short, the women found themselves coming to a stop in front of Vinny's apartment building. "We are being here, Olivie. See, not so long."

"Thank you," Olivia murmured, but the two women weren't done. Together, they walked her up to the door and waited while she knocked. After a moment, the door swung open, and Vinny had a bright smile on his face. The moment he took in the entire tableau, his smile disappeared and became a scowl. "Darlin'?" he asked, his dark eyes raking over them; his face reddened when he spotted the damage to Olivia's clothing. "What the fuck!?"

Olivia stepped up to him and put her arms around his waist; his enclosed her shoulders as Olivia said, "These men... at the club... they tried..." She broke off and added, "But I'm okay, really." She didn't sound okay, at all.

Vinny looked at the other two. "You there for it?"

"Yeah. Sadly, they lived."

The words came out with cold seriousness, and there was nothing fake about the murderous glint in the normally carefree acrobat's expression. There was enough barely-suppressed rage in her response to win even Vinny's approval, though she shrugged apologetically and tried to look calmer when Livy and Yse glanced in her direction.

"We fucked 'em up a bit, but Yse made sure I didn't kill anyone and Kyria made sure they don't remember nothin'. We already briefed Cam, so Livy asked to see you next."
