MegaGirl quickly lost count of the demons that were storming down the stairs. They were... many, much more than she had ever seen before. Within seconds they had filled the entire stairway climbing over ond on each other some getting trampled over by those that were faster...

Hype quickly assessed the situation. The pillar the Demon was attacking held the prone and probably dying body of MegaGirl's mother. The other pillars each held another prisoner Hype knew were imprisoned in the Plutofacility. They too looked close to death. The pillars were oozing blood which in return "fed" the ritual circle in the center of the room. Just as Djane described there was something like a black hole floating in the middle of nothing right on the center mark of the circle and it was growing.

The pillar slowly gave away to their joint and persistent attacks and the blood started to spill out in jets to the sides were cracks were forming. Soon the pillar would collapse... but what would happen then? The entire ceiling of the room was held by the four pillars - if they got all destroyed the room would surely collapse, too.

Djane still felt emotionally confused although the situation quickly sobered her from whatever feelings she just had for Watchwoman. Her mind still had trouble catching up with all the new information she was aware of. The only thing she knew for sure - this was bad... really bad.

Then the big demon hit one of the pillars, and she frowned. Acting on a quick hunch, she went over to one of the pillars NOT currently under assault by a giant demon and took some detailed reading of it.

(OOC - Here's a Notice check, though some things, like checking radio freqs doesn't usually require a roll unless there's jamming or other attempts to foil it in place. Notice 14. http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2404014/ )

Echo's DRUID picked up the signal of MegaGirl's mother. Actually it was getting stronger and stronger the closer she got to the ritual circle. She also picked a second reading coming from the pile of armor that belonged to the Celestial Centurion. These were definetly friendlies.

[ooc: Echo doesn't notice anything beyond that. You are positive that MGs mom is indeed in that pillar the demon and WW are working on. There are no jamming signals or interfering frequencies]

Herak saw the demons pouring into the room and knew that their time was rapidly coming to and end, if he was to disrupt this ritual and free Megagirl's mother it needed to be done now. He jammed the massive clawed hands into the largest of the cracks and planted his feet. The clawed feet caught the stone beneath the blood and gripped until the stone itself cracked. With a mighty heave he exerted every fiber of strength this body had to tear the crack asunder and gain access to the woman within.

MegaGirl glared up the stairs. There were a lot of demons, she couldn't even count that high, and she couldn't smash that many so fast either. But she had something else she could do. Her full chest strained against her uniform as she inhaled even deeper, held her breath for a long moment, braced her hands with stone crushing force against either side of the entrance way, then exhaled.

The air rushed out of her in a shrieking gale, with the force of a category five hurricane. Frost coated the walls and stairs, then the MegaGirl-created cold front crashed into the milling Demons.

The Demon and Watchwoman were still tearing down the Pillar as Hype prepared himself to pick up MegaGirl's mother. MegaGirl's mighty breath crashed with it's full force against the hordes of approaching Demon Warriors. Within seconds the area infront of her and up the stairs got frozen by her Freezing Breeze binding the Demon Warrior's to one huge block of ice. For a short moment there was silence and then the ice slowly started to crack. It was difficult to tell how long the ice would hold.

TK concentrated on the ceiling 'grasping' and 'holding' it with her immense telekinetic powers. The ceiling cracked and dust filled the room as the pillar slowly gave way to the Demons and Watchwoman's pulling.

Droplets of sweat started to cover her face as she pushed against the mass of the ceiling - it was heavy... maybe too heavy for her alone.

Currently TK can hold the ceiling, it's hard to tell for how long. If the 3 remaining Pillars stay unharmed she could do this for a while. The more Pillars get removed the harder it gets of course. No roll necessary for now.

The huge Demon managed to rend open the pillar with Watchwoman's help. With a sickening splashing sound the contents of the pillar, obviously all blood spilled over the entire floor and some of it over the demon's legs and the entirety of Watchwoman. A heavy metallic/coppery scent filled the room and sent the demon almost into a frenzy. The creature trembled licking his lips and extending claws feeling an unknown hunger spreading from the depths of it's bowels.

On the floor lay the unconscious body of MegaGirl's mother - she bled from several wounds and her frame looked... emaciated. The woman Watchwoman knew as MegaGirl's mother was about a foot shorter than her daughter still putting her in the range of 7 1/2 feet. This woman looked barely as tall as Watchwoman herself.

Djane concentrated focusing on the next Pillar which held another victim inside that she couldn't identify. It was another woman even more scantily clad than her - at least from what she could tell concerning the bad lighting in the room and all the dust and debris that was coming down from the ceiling.

For a moment nothing happened and then a hole just large enough for the victim inside to slip through opened spilling blood all over the floor but not as much as the first Pillar did. The ceiling cracked ominiously but TK could tell that it still held most of the weight which meant she could keep pushing for a while longer without help.

The woman was severely cut with open wounds that still bled and it was hard to imagine that she was still alive. Only the rasping sound of her breath and the irratic rise and fall of her chest gave away that she was still alive and breathing.

Again an odd tingling sensation swept over Djane's skin - the familiar telltale sign of a magical source closeby. Maybe the hole in the center of the ritual circle got larger or maybe it was that strange looking woman lying on the floor.

"Nyah-Nyah!" MegaGirl taunted the frozen demons, sticking her tongue out at them, tendrils of frozen vapour issuing from her nose. Heedless of the cracking block of ice, MegaGirl smile widely with her solution to the mass of demons, then turned around to watch the backs of her friends for more demons.

MegaGirl's gold-green eyes glowed with shock at what she saw. Blood had washed out in a wave across the floor, her mother a limb and scarlet covered figure on the ground. Oh no! She's bleeding so much, she's shrinking! She so small! I didn't know that could happen! Serene was covered in red, probably from helping her mother, but the Demon-Dolt was standing there, towering over her mother, blood on its hands and legs, fierce and savage. It did this!

"YOU DID THIS TO MY MOTHER!" MegaGirl roared with furious distress. The enormous amazon ran straight at the immense demon, intending to pick it up and throw it away from her mother, to splatter against the wall or pillar, she didn't care.

In her furious distress MegaGirl failed to grapple the more than twice as large Demon who was looming over her mother's body. The creature snarled as even more blood got spilled over the floor and it's eyes lost all signs of intelligence. With a challenging roar it 'fend off' MegaGirl's futile seeming attempt and brought its wicked claws forward ready to pounce her in return.

The Demon seems to large to be picked up easily. It's a huge hulk with large muscles making MegaGirl look rather small next to it.

The situation was spiraling out of control. MegaGirl was attacking the one demon on their side while it lost control. As Hudsy tensely reported, "That is MegaGirl's mother. She is grievously wounded, and I'm not sure how she's alive."

But Watchwoman had bigger issues. "Shit! D'Jane, that's Rayven - one of the League's formidable villain!" As she spoke, she realized - she could restore the control here.

"I'm sorry," she murmured as she gave into that tingle. Immediately, the smell of vanilla filled the air in a rapidly expanding cloud.

As soon as Watchwoman apologized for her action the vanilla scent already filled everybody's nostril and the world changed, their perception changed.

MegaGirl's anger and fury against the Demon changed and an not so odd blank stare replaced her focused look in her face. She straightened herself, shoulders squared and turned around offering the Demon she was about to fight her back.

The Demon in return also lost his bloodhazed gaze and assumed a similar odd blank stare lowering it's guard. It stepped over the prone body of MegaGirl's mother and followed MegaGirl towards the stairway - towards the approaching horde of Demonwarriors.

TK joined MegaGirl and the Demon at the stairway preparing for the horde's imminent attack. The frozenbarrier would soon break and then the room would be swarmed with hundreds of Demonwarriors...

At the unusual scent, Echo frowned slightly and wondered why there'd be a fragrance like that in a place like this. She was still wondering that as her eyes glazed over and her consciousness settled into a slow spin around the paralyzing question. Meanwhile, her body acted on its own, by the will of another. She marched to a pillar and put her hand against it.

Silver 'teardrops' beaded on her skin, then flowed in complex patterns to the pillar where it started to spread over that dread structure's surface. It etched the pillar's surface like acid; started to sink into it, but so far at least the unnatural durability of its structure protected it from real damage.

It felt good, to think and have it done. It was so easy - no mess, no arguing - just people working together in concert to achieve a goal. It was better than letting people fumble about without direction while hoping her words could convince them to work together. Just flex a muscle, and suddenly, she was in control.

With effort, she pulled back from that dangerous delight and 'tensed' that muscle again. It took concentration and willpower to deny her instincts, and Serene shivered a little as she regained control. "Ma'am," Hudsy said in her ear, "you are showing unusual signs of stress. Do you need assistance?"

"No," she whispered. "I'm fine."

Straightening, she said, "Get that last pillar open! Tessa, take Dawnstar. MegaGirl, get Rayven. We are so out of here!" She pointed at the hole in the wall that was roughly demon-shaped. "Everyone, fall back to the next room!" It'd be more defensible than the stairs, even if it was a dead end. And with luck, removing the last victim from the pillar would end the ritual before something truly terrible came through.

Echo quickly finished corroding the last pillar stepping backwards just in time to avoid getting splashed by the excessive blood that was spilling out of the opening. An unexpected heatwave followed the splash of blood and she could see that the blood itself had an unusual quality, as if it was 'fighting' against the runes on the floor that absorbed it. Everywhere the blood and the runes touched sparkles jumped off the floor and she could almost feel the presence of great arcane power. To her feet the prone body of a large woman lay semi-consciously. Eyes flaring angrily but her body failing to obey her commands. Unfortunately there was too little time and Echo had to decide quickly what to do next. Watching her friends falling back through the hole in the wall she picked up the prone body of the woman shaped creature and followed them.

Karra set Rayven on the ground, gently, then was almost hopping around Tessa in anxiety. Finally, she couldn't hold it anymore. She then did exactly as she'd said she would, bending over and lowering Aina, the Dragon-Witch to the cold floor of the ritual room. The cyborg then looked at Djane and Watchwoman in that order.

"I don't know much about magic or mysticism. I do know that Aina's League records show that she's powerful and potentially dangerous, but is not openly hostile to the League."

"We need a way out," Serene said tersely. "D'jane, Echo, find a way out of here." She was glad that the fear in her heart didn't leak out into her voice. "Karra... Karra, I'm sorry, but I need you over here. I need you to get Centurion out of this cage. We need to get him out of here."

They were running out of ways to carry the injured. One problem at a time, Serene, she heard her father's voice say.

Tessa nodded, and set about also helpingget Karra back to business. "Kara, let me hold her, Serene needs you. I promise I'll take care of her. Besides you're stronger than I am, you'll have an easier time of helping our friend, and if somthing comes, I don't need my hands to defend your mother or myself."

"Be very, very, very careful with mom, Tessa," MegaGirl said somberly. The near nine foot amazon knelt down on her knees and place Dawnstar back in Tessa's arms with infinite care, her golden-green eyes glowing with a cold radiance, her tone still somber. "If you break your promise, Tessa, Imma gonna break you."

Karra climbed back to her feet and walked over to Watchwoman, glancing back over a shoulder often, to check on her mother. At her side, Serene pointed to the cage, barely visible with the darkness drinking in the light of the Celestial Centurion's armour.

With a belligerent frown, Karra's superhumanly strong fingers gripped the bars, sleek and shspely muscles tensing mightily. Then with a fierce grunt, MegaGirl heaved her arms apart, fully expecting the cage to be ripped asunder, regardless of what it was made of.
