Sitting in his room at the Washington Plaza Siyu stared at his phone expectantly. The TV played a random news channel. He wasn't paying attention in the least as the fingered the metal mask that sat on the bed next to him. Soft light entered the room through the gently parted window dressing.

Siyu sighed as he rose from the bed. He walked to the closet mask in hand and looked to his the rest of his costume. The mask was heavy in his hand. With his free hand he examined the material the long black coat he wore over his gear. As he looked from one to the other he couldn't help but smile at how well they complimented one another. Another look to the phone. Siyu was only in town for a few days and he wanted to get his work done quickly...whatever it was. His superiors had been rather vague.

Siyu brushed an errant strand of hair from his face before tossing the mask to the bed. He made his way to the minibar and made a drink before returning to the bed himself. Another look to the phone. Sipping lightly on the cognac Siyu settled in to wait.

A knocking sounded on the door. For a moment, Siyu paused. Then the knocking grew louded. "Siyu," a voice called from outside, "don't keep Jerry Hursch waiting!" At the mention of the name, Siyu started for the door immediately. Jeremiah Hursch was one of the famous infiltrators of Novus, and it was not a good idea to keep him waiting.

Jerry Hursch?! Siyu all but ran for the door. He sat his drink down on the counter along the way. It was about time. Boredom didn't begin to explain what he was feeling. He hadn't expected this at all. He peered through the peephole excitement building within him. Time to get this party underway. Siyu opened the door and stepped aside as Mr. Hursch entered.

"Sir," Siyu offered and nodded as he closed the door.

"Of course," Siyu hurried to the bar and poured another drink. He carried both drinks to Mr. Hursch handing him one.

"Enjoy," Siyu raised his glass before taking a sip. He motioned toward a seat and then took his own. Finally he was going to figure out what he was supposed to be doing here. The sooner he knew the sooner he could complete the job and be on his way.

"Let me say it's a pleasure Mr. Hursch," Siyu sipped his drink again, "shall we begin?"

Siyu sat on the edge of his seat listening attentively. Special recruitment. He had suspected as much. And only he the tip of the iceberg he. It appeared he may be here longer than he thought...unfortunately.

"I've heard whispers," he took another pull from the glass. The ice clinked against the side of said glass as it was lowered. "I see how he could beneficial to our cause if what I've heard is true. He possesses quite the gift" the operative answered.

Siyu leaned back in his chair crossing his legs, "so how do we proceed," he asked.

Hursch quietly smiled. "Go to this address." he slipped a piece of paper with a street address and a phone number on it. "Aeon's office is there, so I suggest you head out after I leave. Go quietly, and talk him into joining. If he won't be convinced, knock him out, and call the number on here. Got it?"

Listening intently Siyu took the slip of paper from Hursch. He opened it and examined the address and phone number. Already he was formulating a plan for how he would go about this. He inserted the paper into the inside pocket of his suit jacket.

"And if he agrees," he probed further. Hopefully he would. Siyu wasn't all too keen on carrying him. He took another sip as he concentrated on the subtle burn in his throat from the cognac.

"At any rate," Siyu gestured with his glass "where will I be taking him after?"

  • 3 weeks later...

Downing the remainder of his drink in a single pull Siyu prepared himself mentally. The glass he left on the bar along with his mask. Siyu removed his gear from the closet and laid it out on the bed. His sword he leaned against the chair. It had been in his family for sometime and he treated it as such. His attention returning to the TV news he changed clothes quickly. Humans what laughable creatures. If only they knew their time was quickly coming to a close.

The transformation nearly complete he rolled and loosened his neck as he conversely tightened the straps about his torso. His sword he fitted to his hip beneath his black trench coat. Next he pulled on his gloves flexing his fingers as they reached their destinations inside the black leather. Helmet tucked under his arm Siyu headed for the ground level.

Outside a car awaited him. Siyu slid into the back removing his sword and sitting it next to him in one deft motion. The driver knew where to go and evidenced as much when he pulled away without so much as a glance to the backseat.

The final touch. Siyu lifted his mask above his head eyes closed and gently lowered it onto his head. He opened his eyes his ritual finally complete. He was no longer Siyu, he was now Graviton. He lifted his sword and spun it deftly end over end before laying it across his lap and returning to his meditation. It wasn't long before they arrived at the clinic.
